The best AI agent for your team is usually the one that fits the system where its work and records already live—not a universal winner. Microsoft Copilot agents suit Microsoft 365-centered work, Agentforce is built around Salesforce workflows, ServiceNow AI Agents target service and operational processes, and agents in Slack bring interactions into team collaboration. The four are different kinds of fit, and available documentation does not establish a head-to-head winner or prove which one teams will adopt most.
How to choose an AI agent your team will use
Start with the work, not the product label. An agent that can act on relevant company information and appear in the team’s normal workflow is easier to evaluate than one chosen for a broad promise of autonomy. Before shortlisting, answer these questions:
- Where does the work happen? Identify the system that holds the records and processes the agent would need, as well as where employees would want to interact with it.
- What recurring job should it do? Define a concrete workflow—such as responding to a service request or helping with a CRM task—rather than asking for a general-purpose assistant.
- Who will build and administer it? Establish whether the team can use in-context or natural-language creation, or needs administrators to configure, govern, and maintain the agent.
- What can it access, and where does a person step in? Check data access, the point where an employee can inspect or interact with the agent, and how the proposed workflow will be tested and controlled.
- What will deployment cost in your environment? Confirm edition, add-ons, metered use, and prerequisites with the relevant administrator. These products do not have a supported like-for-like price comparison here.
These checks matter because vendor feature descriptions establish what a product says it offers, not comparative accuracy, safety, productivity gains, or real-world adoption. The documentation for the products below was checked on October 3, 2026; availability and licensing can change.
Four AI-agent options by work ecosystem
| Option | Most natural fit | Where people encounter it |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Copilot agents | Microsoft 365 and Copilot-centered teams | Copilot Chat |
| Salesforce Agentforce | Teams whose workflows and records are in Salesforce | Salesforce employee and customer-facing contexts |
| ServiceNow AI Agents | IT, customer service, HR, and enterprise operations running through ServiceNow | ServiceNow workflows and orchestration |
| Agents in Slack | Teams that want to work with agents during collaboration | Channels, direct messages, and threads |
This is a fit guide, not a ranking. Choose based on the workflow and platform your team already uses, then verify the setup and commercial terms for the specific agent you plan to deploy.

1. Microsoft Copilot agents: for Microsoft 365-centered work
Microsoft describes agents as spanning prompt-and-response tools through more autonomous agents, working alongside or on behalf of a person, team, or organization. That range makes Copilot agents a candidate for teams that want agent experiences within the Microsoft environment, but it also means “Copilot agent” does not describe one fixed capability or cost model. Microsoft Learn’s overview of agents for Microsoft Copilot Chat explains the range.
Building and administering
Users can create agents from Copilot Chat with Agent Builder; Microsoft positions Copilot Studio as the broader experience for more advanced scenarios. Administrators can manage access and capacity through Microsoft admin centers. A team should decide who owns agent creation and ongoing access management before broadening a pilot.

Data access and cost to check
Microsoft describes declarative agents grounded in instructions and public websites as available at no additional cost. Agents that access shared tenant data, such as SharePoint or Graph Connector content, are billed by metered consumption. The no-additional-cost description applies to that stated declarative-agent case; it is not a blanket statement about all agent scenarios or the full cost of an organization’s Microsoft software. Confirm the intended data connections and consumption model with your Microsoft administrator.
2. Salesforce Agentforce: for CRM-centered workflows
Agentforce is Salesforce’s agent-driven layer for work across areas including sales, service, marketing, commerce, and Slack. It is a natural shortlist candidate when the workflow depends on Salesforce records and platform processes. Salesforce’s Design and Implement Agents documentation describes planning, building, testing, deploying, and monitoring agents.

Check edition and agent-specific licensing
Salesforce documentation lists Lightning Experience and Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions, but add-on license requirements vary by agent type. Being on one of those editions does not establish that every kind of agent is included. Ask a Salesforce administrator to verify the target agent’s requirements, along with the organization’s edition and any add-ons.
Check whether an existing agent is legacy
Salesforce’s Agentforce considerations page flags support and migration considerations for legacy Agentforce (Default) agents. The current documentation uses “subagents” where older references may say “topics,” and Salesforce says the functionality is unchanged. If you are extending an existing setup, confirm which terminology and agent state apply to it before planning changes.

3. ServiceNow AI Agents: for service and operational workflows
ServiceNow presents AI agents for IT, customer service, HR, and broader enterprise work. This is a strong ecosystem fit to investigate when important service or operational processes already run on ServiceNow, rather than a general recommendation for teams whose work lives elsewhere. Its AI Agents product page describes the offering.
Creation, testing, and coordination
The product page describes out-of-the-box agents, natural-language agent creation in AI Agent Studio, testing against real data, orchestration, and ways to connect and control third-party agents. For a proposed workflow, establish how testing will use the organization’s data, who controls connected agents, and where employees can review the resulting work.

These are vendor descriptions of capabilities, not independent evidence of performance or a comparison of implementation costs. The page does not establish that orchestration will produce a particular outcome for a given organization.
4. Agents in Slack: for collaboration in channels and conversations
Slack is best understood here as a place people interact with agents, not necessarily as the product that builds or supplies the underlying agent. Slack describes agents in channels, direct messages, and threads; its AI Agents product page also describes Agentforce suggesting and taking action in the flow of work.
How teams can use them in conversation
Slack’s help documentation says a user can start a one-on-one conversation with an agent or add an agent or app to a channel. Custom Agentforce agents can be created in Salesforce and added to Slack. That can suit a team that wants to ask an agent questions or include it in a discussion without moving the conversation out of its collaboration space. The agent’s provider and underlying platform still matter when you assess its data access, administration, and licensing. See Slack’s instructions for working with AI agents in Slack.
What to verify before you deploy
Choose one recurring task for an initial evaluation and make the deployment decision against that task, not against a vendor’s broadest description of its platform. Use the relevant product administrator to confirm the practical details:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Specify the task and its boundaries. Record what information the agent needs, what action it may take, and which cases should remain with a person.
- Confirm access and governance. Check which company data the agent can use, who can create or change it, and how access will be administered.
- Test the actual workflow. Use representative scenarios and determine how an employee can inspect, correct, or take over the work. A feature description alone does not establish how the workflow performs.
- Validate the commercial setup. Confirm the required edition, agent-specific add-ons, metered consumption, and any other applicable prerequisites. In particular, Salesforce says add-on requirements vary by agent type, while Microsoft describes metered consumption for some agents that access shared tenant data.
- Decide what counts as a successful fit. Agree on task-specific criteria with the people who will use the agent. Do not treat a vendor capability statement as proof of adoption, accuracy, or productivity improvement.
Because these products overlap but are rooted in different ecosystems, a fair comparison should use the same proposed task and operating requirements wherever possible. The available vendor documentation does not supply a common benchmark across all four.
