34pciurd.dll is a 32-bit Philips 34PCIurd component used by older PCI TV-tuner and video-capture software. If Windows says 34pciurd.dll is missing or cannot load, the safest fix is to identify the associated capture card and reinstall its complete driver and application package, not download the DLL by itself.
This file is not a Windows system DLL, Microsoft runtime, DirectX component, or .NET component. It is commonly found in older Philips, SAA7130, and SAA7134 driver bundles, including rebranded cards sold by manufacturers such as Medion, Mecer, AOpen, Compro, Magic Pro, and Encore.

Fix 1: Identify the capture card before reinstalling anything
Time needed: 5 to 15 minutes
The filename alone is not enough to select a driver. Several historical packages contain similarly named Philips components, and the DLL variants are not necessarily interchangeable.

Check Device Manager
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand each of these sections:
- Sound, video and game controllers
- Imaging devices
- Other devices
- Unknown devices
- Look for a TV tuner, video capture device, multimedia controller, Philips device, or SAA713x device.
- Right-click the likely device and choose Properties.
- Open the Details tab.
- Select Hardware Ids from the Property list.
- Copy the first hardware ID.
The hardware ID may identify the card more reliably than its retail name. Search that exact ID together with the card brand or model, using the original computer manufacturer, card manufacturer, or a legitimate archived driver package as the source.

If no capture card appears
A card may be:
- Disconnected or disabled in firmware
- Listed under Unknown devices
- Missing its driver
- Removed while the old viewing application remains installed
- No longer present in the computer
If the hardware is no longer installed, do not keep replacing DLLs. The remaining application may be an orphaned TV utility that still launches at startup or through a shortcut.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall the complete application
Time needed: 10 to 30 minutes
If the TV application is still installed, try its built-in repair option first.
Repair a Windows app
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps.
- Find the TV, capture, tuner, or video utility.
- Select its three-dot menu.
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows and open the application again.
If Repair does not solve the error, return to the same screen and try Reset, if available. Reset may remove the application’s stored settings.
Traditional desktop programs may use a different path:
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs > Programs and Features.
- Select the capture-card application.
- Look for Repair, Change, or Modify.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows.
Microsoft documents these repair paths for installed programs and apps in its repair apps and programs guidance.
If repair is unavailable, uninstall the old capture application and reinstall it from the matching driver or installation package. Reinstall the driver and the viewing or recording software together when both are supplied in the same package.
What success looks like
The program should open without requesting 34pciurd.dll, and the capture device should appear in the application’s input or source list.

If the application still fails, do not copy a replacement DLL into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64. Continue with hardware and package identification instead.
Fix 3: Reinstall the matching driver through Device Manager
Time needed: 15 to 30 minutes
Use this approach when Device Manager shows the card but the driver is missing, damaged, or incorrect.

- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Find the capture card.
- Right-click it and choose Uninstall device.
- If Windows offers Attempt to remove the driver for this device, select it only when you are sure the package is broken and you already have the correct replacement package.
- Select Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the original driver installer as administrator, or install the correct INF package supplied for the card.
- Restart Windows again.
- Reopen Device Manager and confirm that the device has no warning icon.
Do not force a driver intended for a different SAA713x card just because its package contains 34pciurd.dll. The complete package may also contain files such as CAP7134.SYS, PhTVTune.SYS, 34API.DLL, 34COM.DLL, and Prop7134.DLL. These components work as a driver stack, not as unrelated files that can safely be mixed.
Windows Update can sometimes provide a compatible device driver, but it is not a dependable source for every old Philips or SAA713x card. To check manually:

- In Windows 11, select Windows Update.
- In Windows 10, select Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install applicable driver updates.
- Restart the computer.

Driver hunting is often the slowest part because the same capture chipset appeared in multiple rebranded cards. Fix 4: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Time needed: 5 to 15 minutes
Security software may remove an old DLL because legacy driver packages can be unsigned, obsolete, or difficult to verify. Do not immediately restore the file just because its name matches the error.
- Open Start.
- Search for Windows Security and open it.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review detections related to the TV application, capture-card folder, or
34pciurd.dll. - Open the detection details.
- Note the detected file path and threat name.
Before restoring anything, verify:
- The file came from the original capture-card installer or a trusted backup.
- The associated hardware is actually installed.
- The file is in the expected application or driver directory.
- The package has not been modified or repacked.
- The detection is not identifying the file as malware.
If the file is genuinely malicious or its origin cannot be verified, leave it quarantined and remove the obsolete application. Microsoft explains quarantine and restoration behavior in its Protection History guidance.

Fix 5: Check 32-bit and 64-bit compatibility
Time needed: 5 to 20 minutes
Available file records identify 34pciurd.dll as a Win32, 32-bit DLL. A 64-bit process cannot load a 32-bit DLL, and a 32-bit process cannot load a 64-bit DLL.
Many 32-bit applications can run on 64-bit Windows through WOW64. That does not mean an old 32-bit kernel driver will work on modern 64-bit Windows.
Check your Windows architecture:
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select System > About.
- Read System type.
- Note whether Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Also check the application:
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Select the Details tab.
- Start the capture application if possible.
- Look for its executable.
- On some Windows versions, a 32-bit process may be marked with a suffix such as
(32 bit).
A 32-bit application can potentially load this DLL on 64-bit Windows, provided its other dependencies and driver components are compatible. A 64-bit application cannot use this 32-bit DLL without a compatible 64-bit replacement.

If the card relies on an old kernel driver, compatibility mode cannot make an unsupported driver safe or functional. Check whether the card manufacturer provides a driver for your Windows release. If not, use the card in a supported older Windows environment or replace it with a modern capture device.
Fix 6: Check for a missing dependency
Time needed: 10 to 30 minutes
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that 34pciurd.dll itself is absent. Windows may be reporting that the DLL exists but one of its dependent modules cannot be loaded.
This can happen when:
- The application folder contains only part of the driver package.
- Another Philips component was deleted.
- The wrong version of the package was installed.
- A required runtime or system component is damaged.
- The application is loading a copy from a different directory.
First, check the application’s original installation folder. If 34pciurd.dll is present, compare the surrounding files with the original package and reinstall the package rather than adding random files.
A trusted dependency-analysis utility or Process Monitor can help identify the missing module. Use that information to repair the original package. Do not search for every reported dependency on DLL download sites.
Fix 7: Run Windows repair commands as a secondary check
Time needed: 15 to 45 minutes
SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components. They generally do not restore a third-party DLL installed by a TV-card driver, so they are secondary checks rather than the primary solution.
Open an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
Run DISM first:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows after both commands complete and test the capture application again.
Microsoft recommends this DISM-then-SFC order in its System File Checker instructions.
Repeating these commands will not recreate a missing Philips driver package. If both commands report that Windows is healthy but the DLL error remains, return to the capture-card driver and application.

Fix 8: Use System Restore after a recent change
Time needed: 20 to 60 minutes
System Restore is appropriate when the error began immediately after a driver installation, application removal, Windows change, or security cleanup.

- Open Start.
- Search for Create a restore point.
- Open the result.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point created before the error began.
- Review the affected programs and drivers.
- Confirm the restore.
System Restore normally preserves personal files, but it can remove applications and drivers installed after the selected restore point. Microsoft describes this behavior in its Windows recovery options.
If the error appeared after uninstalling the TV software, reinstalling the complete package is usually cleaner than restoring the entire system.
Do not register this DLL blindly
regsvr32 is not a general-purpose DLL repair command. It applies to DLLs or OCX files that provide the registration entry points expected by COM or ActiveX.
There is no verified basis for assuming that 34pciurd.dll is a self-registering COM server. Running this command:
regsvr32 34pciurd.dll
may produce an entry-point or module-load error and will not rebuild the capture-card driver stack.
Only register the file if the original vendor installer or INF explicitly instructs you to do so. Otherwise, reinstall the complete driver and application package. Microsoft explains the registration context for ActiveX controls in its ActiveX registration documentation.
Why downloading the DLL alone is risky
Avoid downloading 34pciurd.dll from random DLL websites and copying it into a Windows system folder. That approach can fail because:
- The file may contain malware or have been modified.
- Historical packages contain different variants and sizes.
- The downloaded file may have the wrong architecture.
- A dependent DLL may still be missing.
- The driver INF, services, registry entries, and device setup remain absent.
- The file may belong to a different capture card.
- It can hide the fact that the old kernel driver is unsupported.
A controlled copy is reasonable only when restoring a verified file from the original installer, a trusted backup, or a known-good package for the same card and version. Even then, reinstalling the complete package is preferable.
Do not place the file indiscriminately in System32 or SysWOW64.

What causes the error
The usual causes are:

| Unsupported modern Windows installation | Use a supported environment or replace the card |
Philips Semiconductors later became associated with NXP Semiconductors, so old records may use either publisher name. That corporate history does not mean a current NXP download for this exact DLL is available.

Stop forcing old drivers when:
- The installer fails signature or compatibility checks.
- Device Manager reports that Windows cannot start the device.
- The card requires an old 32-bit kernel driver.
- The manufacturer provides no driver for your Windows release.
- The application works only under an older operating system.
- Antivirus flags the package and its origin cannot be verified.
Compatibility mode may help an old application installer run, but it does not make an unsigned or incompatible kernel driver work. Your practical choices are a supported older Windows environment, a compatible replacement capture card, or a newer capture application that supports the available hardware.

Is 34pciurd.dll part of Windows?
No evidence indicates that it ships with Windows. It is associated with Philips 34PCIurd and old PCI TV-tuner or video-capture software.
