Daikin owners troubleshooting weak heating or cooling, unexpected shutdowns or indoor water leaks can start with a few safe checks: verify the remote settings, inspect filters and airflow, and check the drain hose. These are three recognizable problem groups in Daikin’s troubleshooting guidance, not a measured ranking of the most frequent faults. Exact procedures and error meanings vary by model and region, so use the manual for your indoor unit and contact a qualified installer when basic checks do not resolve the issue.
The air conditioner does not cool or heat the room well
Before assuming the unit needs repair, check the settings and airflow. Daikin recommends confirming the remote’s operating mode and temperature setting, cleaning the air filters as directed in the correct owner’s manual, and making sure objects are not blocking the indoor or outdoor unit’s air inlets and outlets. - Confirm that the remote is set to the intended mode—cooling or heating—and that the temperature setting is appropriate.
- Inspect and clean the indoor air filter following the manual’s instructions for your exact model.
- Clear objects that obstruct airflow at the indoor or outdoor unit. Do not dismantle the equipment to reach internal components.
- If performance remains poor, contact the installer or Daikin support rather than trying to diagnose or adjust refrigerant charge from symptoms alone.
If you need a replacement filter, match it to the exact indoor-unit model; “Daikin mini split” by itself is not enough to establish compatibility. Daikin lists parts and consumables through its after-sales service information, but availability and parts can vary by market.
Operation stops unexpectedly, or a lamp flashes or code appears
When operation stops and the operation lamp flashes, Daikin’s owner guidance recommends checking whether the filter is dirty and whether an air inlet or outlet is obstructed. Clean the filter and clear the obstruction if present. If the problem persists, contact the place of purchase or a Daikin representative.

Record the exact displayed error code and give it to the installer, along with the unit’s model details. Code meanings can differ by model. Daikin says its general Error Codes Search is intended for dealers experienced in repair, so a code found online should not be treated as a complete diagnosis. For example, Daikin India lists U0 as refrigerant shortage in its regional error-code table; that regional example does not establish what U0 means for every model or market.
Water leaks from the indoor unit
For water from the indoor unit, Daikin advises checking whether water is leaving through the drain hose outside. Look at the hose end for an obstruction and check for an obvious bend in the drainage path; either can interfere with drainage. Daikin also notes that a dirty indoor air filter can contribute to condensate forming and leaking from the air outlet. Follow the unit’s manual for filter cleaning. If the leak continues, contact the installer or Daikin rather than opening or dismantling the unit.

When to stop troubleshooting and call for service
Basic checks do not include electrical diagnosis, refrigerant handling, disassembly or repair of persistent error codes. Leave those tasks to qualified service personnel. A model-specific Daikin installation manual warns users to stop operation and shut off power if unusual conditions such as a burning smell occur, because continued operation can risk equipment damage, electric shock or fire. It also directs service for repeated safety-device or breaker activation and water leakage. - If you smell burning, stop operation and shut off power if it is safe to do so; seek qualified service.
- If a breaker trips repeatedly or a safety device activates again, do not keep restarting the unit. Daikin cautions against resetting a tripped breaker without first checking for insulation problems.
- If water leakage continues or an error persists after the basic checks, arrange service and provide the exact model and displayed code.
