For travel, choose a Bluetooth tracker that fits your phone’s finding network and attaches securely to the bag or item you want to locate. Apple AirTag is the straightforward fit for Apple Find My users; Pebblebee Clip 5 and Chipolo LOOP offer rechargeable designs that can be configured for either Apple Find My or Google Find Hub. These are researched options, not a hands-on ranking, and none is a continuous GPS beacon.

Prices, availability, current model details and included accessories can change, so check the live product listing before buying. For AirTag in particular, factor in the holder you need to secure it to a bag; the tracker itself does not provide the same built-in clip or loop described for the other two options.

How to choose the right one
Start with your phone and finding network
AirTag uses Apple Find My. Pebblebee Clip 5 and Chipolo LOOP can be set up for Apple Find My or Google Find Hub, but each tracker uses just one of those networks at a time. Choose the network you can access and use, and check the manufacturer’s current compatibility and minimum operating-system requirements before purchase.

A tracker is only useful if it stays attached. The Clip 5 is designed to clip on, and LOOP’s flexible silicone loop can be fastened around a suitable strap or handle. For AirTag, choose an appropriate holder for the luggage, backpack or key ring rather than assuming one comes in the box.

Decide how you want to handle battery power
Both Pebblebee and Chipolo describe their trackers as rechargeable. Pebblebee claims up to 12 months per charge for Clip 5; Chipolo claims up to one year per full charge for LOOP. These are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured travel results. AirTag’s current battery details should be checked on Apple’s live product page.
Can a Bluetooth tracker help find lost luggage?
Yes, it can help you locate a bag, but it is not a GPS tracker that continuously reports its position. A nearby phone can find a tag over Bluetooth. When the bag is far away, a compatible device in the relevant finding network must detect the tracker for its location to be updated; internet access is needed to show network location on a map. Chipolo explains this distinction in its luggage-tracking guidance.

In practice, a location may be delayed or unavailable if no compatible device passes near the tracker, such as in a quiet or sparsely populated area. The tracker is a useful extra way to check for a bag, not a promise of continuous updates or recovery.
Will it work with my iPhone or Android phone?
AirTag is for Apple Find My. Clip 5 and LOOP offer a choice of Apple Find My or Google Find Hub, but not simultaneous operation on both. Confirm that the version you buy is compatible with your phone, the relevant app and operating-system requirements, and that the network service is available where you plan to use it. Google said in 2024 that its Find My Device network would harness “over a billion Android devices across the world”; that is a dated company statement, not an independently verified current device count. Google also wrote, “Most importantly, the Find My Device network was built with user privacy as a key priority.” See Google’s 2024 announcement.

Does a luggage tracker update in real time?
No. Nearby Bluetooth finding and distant network-assisted location are different functions: a distant update depends on another compatible device detecting the tracker and relaying its location. A tracker may not refresh promptly when no such device is nearby. None of the three product descriptions in this shortlist establishes real-time, continuous location reporting.

Chipolo says its devices are safe in carry-on and checked bags and do not interfere with aircraft systems; that is the manufacturer’s guidance, not an independent airline or regulator determination. Check current airline or regulator rules for your route if you need authoritative advice about permitted devices or batteries.

Use trackers to keep track of your belongings, not to follow a person without consent. Google says Android unknown-tracker alerts cover AirTags and trackers compatible with its network; the alert tools can show a map and play a sound. Those protections are useful, but they do not eliminate every unwanted-tracking risk.
