These 26 motion designer and animator portfolios are a curated inspiration list, not a formally tested ranking. They span 2D and 3D animation, title design, character work, product motion, direction and mixed practices. Use them to compare how artists present their work—and how clearly they show their role in it.
What to look for in a motion design portfolio
- A reel that is quick to find: Colorlib’s 2026 roundup recommends placing the reel first or within one click. Its examples commonly use reels close to a minute; treat that as an observation from this collection, not a universal hiring rule.
- Motion visible while browsing: Short looping previews help visitors see the work without opening every project. Longer films can live on individual project pages.
- Context beyond the finished clip: Stills, process material and case-study notes can explain how a project developed and what the artist contributed.
- Clear credits: When work is collaborative, identify the artist’s role alongside the client, agency and collaborators. A reel breakdown can make individual contributions easier to understand.
Portfolios worth studying
Oliver Latta (Extraweg): title sequences and authorship
Colorlib highlights Latta’s title-sequence work for both seasons of Severance as project case studies. The pages separate the film, stills and credits, and place his role alongside collaborators. This is a useful model for showing not just the finished sequence but also who did what.

Mike Labrow: a reel with shot-by-shot credits
Labrow’s reel breakdown is described as timestamped, with client, agency and role identified. His project pages repeat credit information, helping viewers connect specific shots to his contribution rather than assume the entire reel was solo work.

How to compare the 26 examples
Colorlib’s roundup includes 2D and 3D motion designers, motion directors, title designers, in-house product motion designers and students. Compare sites with your own intended work in mind rather than treating every specialty as interchangeable. Useful questions include whether the reel is immediately visible, whether project pages show process and credits, and how the site handles moving previews.

Building a portfolio around the work
Wix’s own portfolio guidance recommends a strong reel and a handful of complete projects. It suggests presenting projects through video, stills or GIFs, and including process material such as storyboards, character designs, style frames and rough animation. This is platform-vendor guidance, not an independent standard, but it offers a practical checklist for deciding what a project page might contain.
A separate discovery directory, Motion Folios, also curates motion design portfolios. Use directories to find more examples, then open the individual sites to assess their current work and presentation directly.
