This calendar shows the New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter events in UTC. The months are arranged by the calendar month in which each event occurs, so some New Moon entries fall in the preceding month relative to the row’s other dates.

How to read the UTC dates in your time zone
The listed times use Universal Time, not your local clock. The Naval Observatory explains: “In the output table, the date indicates the day, hour, minute, respectively, of Universal Time.” Convert each date and time to your time zone; westward time-zone differences, especially near the International Date Line, can place the local event on the previous calendar date. When to look for the Moon
A full moon is an exact astronomical phase instant. It does not guarantee the Moon is above the horizon at that moment, and the phase time is not the time the Moon rises where you live. Moonrise and moonset depend on location; clouds and other viewing conditions affect whether you can see it. For local rise, set and viewing times, consult a location-specific Sun and Moon service.
NASA JPL gives broad teaching guidance that a full Moon rises in the east at about 6 p.m. and sets in the west at about 6 a.m. Those approximate times are not a forecast for a particular place. JPL notes that its printed calendar activity uses Pacific Time dates and is designed for the Northern Hemisphere. Its free Moon Phases Calendar and Calculator activity includes a printable and calls for heavy paper or cardstock and a brass fastener.

NASA’s SKYCAL – Sky Events Calendar describes generating a sky-event calendar for a selected time zone and year, but the page is marked archival and no longer updated. For the 2026 phase schedule above, the current U.S. Naval Observatory table is the source used.
