Choose Select if the lower-priced entry configuration gives you the battery, drivetrain and everyday equipment you want; choose Premium if its heated and ventilated front seats, B&O audio or a specific range-oriented configuration justify the extra cost. Ford’s 2026 model overview shows a $2,800 starting-price difference, but its Build & Price page lists both trims $495 higher. And Premium’s advertised 320-mile range applies to a particular configuration, not every Premium. This is a US-market trim comparison based on Ford’s published information, not a road test.
2026 Mach-E Select vs. Premium: what is the real price difference?
Ford’s US model overview lists the 2026 Select at a starting MSRP of $37,795 and Premium at $40,595, a $2,800 difference. Ford’s live model overview and its Build & Price selector do not show the same absolute starting figures: the selector lists $38,290 for Select and $41,090 for Premium. That is $495 more per trim on the selector, while the displayed gap remains $2,800. Ford does not explain the discrepancy on the reviewed pages, so do not assume what accounts for it.

Compare the same battery and drivetrain before judging value
Select and Premium are both available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or electric all-wheel drive (eAWD), but battery availability differs. Ford’s 2026 order guide lists a 73 kWh usable-capacity standard-range battery for Select; Select’s 88 kWh usable-capacity extended-range battery is listed with eAWD. Premium can be ordered with either the 73 kWh standard-range or 88 kWh extended-range battery, with RWD or eAWD. Those capacities are Ford’s usable-capacity labels, not independent measurements.

Ford advertises headline EPA-estimated ranges of 300 miles for Select and 320 miles for Premium on the 2026 model overview. The 320-mile Premium figure is associated with RWD and the available extended-range battery; it should not be read as the range of every Premium build. Ford says actual range varies with external conditions, vehicle use, maintenance, battery age and state of health. These are manufacturer-published estimates, not independently verified results.
Ford’s configuration-level performance figures also vary by battery and drivetrain. They are Ford claims, not independent test results:

Specifications are from Ford’s Select and Premium pages and its 2026 order guide. For a fair trim comparison, line up battery and drivetrain first, then compare the resulting configured price, range and equipment. Comparing a base Select RWD price with an extended-range Premium eAWD build would mix trim differences with configuration differences.
What Premium adds—and what Select already includes
Ford highlights Premium’s heated and ventilated front seats and B&O sound system as trim differentiators. Those are the clearest reasons to pay more if they matter in daily use. Select’s listed equipment already includes a 10.2-inch instrument-cluster display, a 15.5-inch center display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and Phone As A Key; Ford does not present those items as Premium-only on its model overview.

- Limited edition. Brand new box. Real rubber tires. Detailed exterior. True-to-scale detail. Comes in a blister pack. Officially licensed product. Die-cast metal body and chassis. Manufacturer's original unopened packaging. Dimensions approximately L-2.75 inches long.
For a buyer who does not need Premium’s comfort and audio additions, Select may be the better value—provided the chosen Select battery and drivetrain meet their needs. If the Premium features would otherwise be a meaningful upgrade, compare the price of the exact builds rather than deciding by trim name alone.

For 2026, Ford says the Technology Package is optional on Select and Premium and required to activate BlueCruise. Ford also moved the 360-degree camera, front parking sensors and Reverse Brake Assist into that package rather than leaving them standard on these trims. Buyers who want any of those features should include the package’s cost in both sides of the comparison. See Ford’s 2026 change notice and order guide for package details.

Ford’s order guide also records other 2026 equipment and service changes that can affect what you need to buy or subscribe to:
- Connected navigation is part of the Ford Connectivity Package; the included period changed from three years to one.
- The frunk, NACS fast-charging adapter and tire inflator/sealant kit are optional rather than standard. Check the exact vehicle’s equipment before buying an accessory.
- On Premium, the wireless charging pad and universal garage door opener are included in the Technology Package rather than standard equipment.
Ford describes a one-year Ford Connectivity Package period for services including connected navigation, streaming and Wi-Fi hotspot access. Ongoing renewal pricing is not established here; check Ford’s current terms if continued access matters to your decision.
Quick Recap
How to decide between Select and Premium
- Build equivalent vehicles. Choose the same drivetrain and, where both trims offer it, the same battery. Record the range Ford gives for that exact configuration rather than relying on a trim-level headline.
- Compare current configured prices. Ford’s overview and Build & Price figures differ by $495 per trim. Use the live configuration and a current dealer quote; separate MSRP, incentives, fees and negotiated price.
- Price the equipment you actually need. Add the Technology Package on either trim if you want BlueCruise activation, the 360-degree camera, front parking sensors or Reverse Brake Assist.
- Value Premium’s comfort and audio additions. Decide whether heated and ventilated front seats and B&O audio warrant the price difference for your use.
- Check charging needs and included accessories. Ford lists the NACS fast-charging adapter as optional. Confirm compatibility with the precise vehicle and the charging network you expect to use; check what charging cord and other equipment are already supplied before purchasing anything.
Who should choose each trim?
Select makes more sense when…
- You want the lower-priced entry point and the Select’s available configuration meets your range and drivetrain needs.
- You do not place enough value on Premium’s heated and ventilated front seats or B&O sound system to justify the added cost.
- You have accounted for any Technology Package or optional charging equipment required for your preferred setup.
Premium makes more sense when…
- You want its heated and ventilated front seats or B&O audio.
- You are considering the extended-range RWD configuration associated with Ford’s 320-mile headline estimate and have confirmed the range for your exact build.
- After matching battery, drivetrain and required packages, its configured quote is worth the equipment to you.
