Consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies make everyday products people buy and use regularly, from snacks and bread to skincare and razors. Built In’s May 19, 2026 article profiles ten companies across those categories. It does not rank them by sales, market share, or another shared measure, so the list is best read as a cross-section of the industry—not a top-ten ranking.
What counts as a consumer packaged goods company?
CPG describes businesses that make packaged items for routine consumption or use. Food and drinks are familiar examples, but the category also includes personal-care products, cosmetics, skincare, household care, wellness products, and pet food. That breadth distinguishes CPG from durable goods such as cars and home appliances, which are generally purchased less often and used over a longer period.

How to interpret the list
Built In’s article has ten company profile sections, but a separate summary bullet list names only five: Amalgamated Sugar, Anheuser-Busch, Dr. Squatch, King’s Hawaiian, and Mondelēz International. The ten profiles are the complete scope of the article. The mismatch is a reason not to treat the five-name summary as the full list.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Nor does the article provide a consistent metric for ranking the companies. It does not compare their sales, market shares, or product quality. The useful comparison is categorical: it shows how CPG spans snacks, baked goods, sugar, alcoholic and other beverages, pet food, cosmetics, skincare, shaving, and grooming.
CPG’s reported economic footprint
The Consumer Brands Association reports that CPG supported 22.3 million jobs—10.5% of U.S. employment—and contributed $1.5 trillion in labor income and $2.5 trillion to U.S. GDP. These are modeled estimates based on 2022 data, not counts of direct CPG-company employees or a current-year measurement. The association commissioned PwC to estimate national, state, and congressional-district economic effects using government data and the IMPLAN input-output model; the estimates include direct and wider economic effects.
