Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe best Airtable alternative depends on what Airtable does for you: choose Baserow or NocoDB for database-first work and hosting control, Notion for documents alongside structured information, ClickUp or monday.com for project tracking, and Google Sheets for straightforward tabular work. These tools overlap, but a project tracker or spreadsheet will not necessarily preserve Airtable’s linked-record structure, formulas, or rollups.
The options below serve different jobs, so compare the workflow fit and free-plan limits before moving data. Pricing and plan limits cited here were checked on official vendor pages on October 7, 2026, and can change.

| monday.com | Board-based work and project management | The pricing page showed a free tier capped at two seats and three boards in the accessed euro-localized view | Board-centered work management; verify the local currency and seat rules for your market |
| Smartsheet | Spreadsheet-native work management, including enterprise-style workflows | Current free-plan limits: not stated in the official source material available for this comparison | Spreadsheet-oriented work management; verify current features and plan terms with the vendor |
| SmartSuite | Operations workflows that need structured records | Current free-plan limits: not stated in the official source material available for this comparison | Database-oriented operations alternative; verify its relational behavior against your use case |
| Grist | Calculation-heavy work in tables | Current free-plan limits: not stated in the official source material available for this comparison | Consider it for calculations, but confirm how its data model handles your linked-record needs |
| Google Sheets | Lightweight tracking, collaboration, or a migration staging sheet | Current free-plan limits: not stated in the official source material available for this comparison | Familiar spreadsheet, not a full relational Airtable replacement |
| Microsoft Lists | Teams looking for a list-based tracker in their Microsoft environment | Current free-plan limits: not stated in the official source material available for this comparison | Evaluate as a list tool; confirm licensing, integrations, and relationship support for your environment |

For Smartsheet, SmartSuite, Grist, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Lists, confirm current capabilities and limits with the vendor before choosing; no specific current pricing or free allowance is established here.
Which Airtable alternative fits your workflow?
For open-source or self-hosted database work: Baserow or NocoDB
Start with these two if you need tables and forms but also want a path away from a vendor-hosted workspace. Baserow’s free cloud tier lists 3,000 rows per workspace and 2 GB storage; Premium lists 50,000 rows per workspace, 20 GB storage, and 100,000 automation credits at $10 per user/month billed yearly or $12 monthly. Its pricing page also presents self-hosting options. Check Baserow’s current plans.
#1 Best Overall
NocoDB’s pricing page lists Community as free forever, self-deployed, with unlimited records, storage, and seats. It lists Plus at $12 per seat/month billed annually, with a stated 50,000-record limit and 20 GB storage; the page contains distinct plan details, so confirm the exact edition and limits before comparing. Check NocoDB’s current pricing and edition details.
Self-hosting shifts operational responsibility to your team: deployment, updates, backups, and uptime do not disappear just because software is self-deployed. Choose on the basis of who will maintain it, not only the record count.
For documents and databases in one workspace: Notion
Notion makes sense when the underlying information belongs beside project notes, internal documentation, or a wiki. It is not automatically a like-for-like database replacement. Map the linked records, formulas, and rollups you rely on, then test whether your proposed Notion setup can represent and use them as needed.

Notion’s pricing page describes Free as intended for individuals and Plus as aimed at small teams and professionals. The accessed page showed Korean-won prices, so a US-dollar amount is not established here. It also notes a block limit for multi-member Free workspaces and tier-specific file-upload and history limits. Check the local pricing view and applicable plan terms before committing. View Notion’s current pricing.
For project tracking: ClickUp or monday.com
These are more compelling when Airtable is functioning as a task and project tracker than when your priority is reproducing a relational schema. ClickUp Free Forever lists unlimited tasks and free-plan members, but also 60 MB storage and one form. Its Unlimited plan is listed at $7 per user/month billed yearly, or $10 monthly. Check ClickUp’s current plans.
monday.com’s accessed pricing view displayed a free tier at €0, capped at two seats and three boards. Because that view was localized in euros, it does not establish the applicable currency or paid-seat rules for every market. Check monday.com’s pricing for your region.

For spreadsheet-native or operations work: Smartsheet, SmartSuite, or Grist
Smartsheet is a candidate when spreadsheet-native work management is the priority; SmartSuite is positioned for operations and structured workflows; Grist is worth considering for calculation-heavy tables. These are use-case distinctions, not verified claims that any one will reproduce your Airtable setup. Check official feature and plan pages, then test your own data model.
For simpler tabular tracking: Google Sheets
A spreadsheet can be enough for a lightweight tracker, shared list, or temporary staging area during a migration. It should not be treated as a fully relational Airtable clone: linked records and database-style behavior may need to be redesigned rather than transferred directly.
For list-based tracking: Microsoft Lists
Microsoft Lists belongs on the shortlist if your team wants to organize work as lists in its Microsoft environment. Confirm the applicable licensing and whether the list relationships and calculations you use in Airtable can be represented in your intended setup.
Rank #4
What to compare before switching
- Relational depth: List linked records, formulas, and rollups that your workflows actually use. Confirm that the candidate supports them, not merely that it offers tables.
- Free-plan capacity: Compare records or rows, storage, seats, views, forms, and automation allowances. A free label alone says little about whether your team can run its workflow.
- Hosting and administration: Compare vendor-hosted and self-hosted editions separately. Include the time and responsibility for deployment, maintenance, backups, and availability in the decision.
- Real seat mix and billing: Compare the number of editors and the billing cadence you expect to use, rather than multiplying a headline price without checking its terms.
Airtable provides a useful baseline for this calculation. Its Free plan is described as suitable for individuals, very small teams, or lightweight needs. Team is listed at $20 per user/month and Business at $45 per user/month, both billed annually. On those paid tiers, Airtable charges for people with edit permissions on at least one base; read-only collaborators, form submissions, and share links are not charged. If a plan limit is reached, users can continue using bases but cannot add records or attachments until upgrading; automation and API usage are capped at the applicable plan limit. Check Airtable’s current plan terms.
How to migrate without losing the structure
Do not assume that an export and import will preserve the way an Airtable base works. A CSV carries values, but may not carry the model that connects them. Test a representative slice before moving a live workflow.
- Inventory the base. Record tables, linked records, formulas, rollups, automations, permissions, and attachments. Identify which elements are essential and which can be simplified.
- Map the destination model. Decide how each table and relationship will be represented in the new tool. Flag features that need a redesign instead of a direct transfer.
- Export and import a representative sample. Include records with linked values, formula results, attachments, and edge cases. Avoid basing the migration decision on a simple table with no relationships.
- Verify the result. Check record counts, field values, linked-record relationships, formula behavior, attachment access, permissions, and any rebuilt automations.
- Run both workflows before cutover. Have the people who use the base test real tasks in the destination. Switch only after the sample behaves as expected and you have a recovery plan for the original data.
How to make the shortlist
If you need an open-source, database-first option, compare Baserow and NocoDB editions and decide who will administer a self-hosted deployment. If documents are as important as structured information, assess Notion’s database behavior against your actual relationships. If Airtable mostly holds tasks and project boards, test ClickUp or monday.com against your team’s workflow and free-tier constraints. For a simple table, start with Google Sheets rather than paying for complexity you do not need.
Before selecting any plan, recheck its current limits, regional pricing, and billing terms on the vendor’s page. The figures above are live commercial terms observed October 7, 2026, not durable guarantees.
