ZuckOff Can Flag Nearby Camera Glasses—but It Cannot Tell If They’re Recording

ZuckOff can alert you to Bluetooth signals it associates with selected camera-equipped smart glasses. It cannot confirm that someone is recording, identify the glasses’ exact location or direction, or guarantee that no recording device is nearby. Treat it as a limited proximity alert—not proof that you are, or are not, being secretly recorded.

What ZuckOff detects

The app listens for Bluetooth signals associated with selected camera-glasses models. Its developer says the app can flag signals from examples including Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, and Snap Spectacles, show evidence behind a flag, log Bluetooth devices, and send background alerts on iPhone. Those are the developer’s descriptions; independent detection-performance results are not established. ZuckOff’s official site says the app is independent and unaffiliated with the device makers it names.

What an alert means—and what it cannot tell you

An alert means the app heard a Bluetooth signature it associates with a supported device. It does not show that the device is actively recording or that its wearer intends to record. The developer says signal strength can suggest rough proximity, but does not provide exact distance or direction. TechJuice’s account likewise cautions that detection cannot establish recording activity or pinpoint location.

The app is not a general hidden-camera detector and cannot identify a person. The reviewed sources do not provide an independently measured detection rate or false-positive rate, so its accuracy across devices and environments is not established.

  • 【Wide-Area Wireless Scan】Think your meeting is private? In larger meeting rooms or hotel spaces, scanning for hidden devices often takes time as you walk around until a signal becomes clear. As your camera detector spy camera finder, its extendable antenna helps steady RF pickup, giving a better sense of direction in wide areas. With adjustable sensitivity, you can avoid missing WiFi cameras. And for non-WiFi pin-hole cameras, the infrared scan reveals disguised tools like a prepared privacy pen.
  • 【Infrared Scan】Ever wonder what’s watching you in a new hotel room? Tiny pin-hole cameras can hide in smoke detectors, clothing hooks, chargers, or fixtures you’d never notice. In a completely dark room, the infrared scan in this camera finder hidden camera detector makes hidden lenses reflect as a bright spot—revealing what the eye can’t see. Sweep mirrors, vents, picture frames, chargers, and wall fixtures; it also works as a hidden bug and camera detector to give you peace of mind before you settle in.
  • 【Anti-Theft Alarm Mode】Don’t Let Danger Catch You Off Guard. While you’re asleep in a hotel room, hang this anti spy detector on the door handle—any attempt to open the door triggers an instant alert, waking you before someone gets close. And when you’re out and your luggage isn’t always in sight, attaching it to your suitcase adds protection; even slight movement sets off a loud alarm to alert you to theft. Paired with your hidden camera finder, it keeps you aware and protected wherever you go.
  • 【Anti-GPS Tracking Scan】Is your car truly safe? GPS trackers can cling to your car with magnets and quietly send out your location. As your gps tracker detector, this device detects the magnetic fields where a tracker is attached and the signals its rf detector picks up when your location is shared. Sweep hiding spots—under seats, along bumpers, near the inside edge of tires. Before you drive, this spy camera detector helps you catch hidden trackers early and avoid someone following you.
  • 【Pocket-Size & Long Battery Life】Every hotel room and office you enter should feel safe. With up to 25 hours of battery life and a true pocket-size build, this device stays ready all day—no hunting for outlets during trips or long workdays. Use it as your bug detector & camera finder, recording device detector, or privacy pen hidden camera detector. Slip it into your pocket for hidden camera detectors for travel, quick hotel scans, or fast checks of unfamiliar offices—giving you steady peace of mind wherever you go.

Why no alert is not a privacy guarantee

ZuckOff’s supported-device list is selective, and its developer notes that some standalone models may remain silent. A device may also go undetected if it does not emit a signature the app recognizes. As a result, no alert cannot establish that nobody nearby is recording or that a space is free of recording devices.

How to tell if someone is filming you with smart glasses

Visual cues may help you notice camera glasses, but they cannot reliably establish whether recording is happening. PCMag reporting reproduced by Yahoo Tech describes camera lenses and indicator LEDs on Meta smart glasses, while noting that an indicator can be obscured. A California Senate committee analysis also discusses how wearable devices can resemble ordinary eyewear and how indicator lights may be subtle or disabled. The Yahoo Tech report and the committee analysis provide context, not a dependable visual test for recording.

What to do if you have a privacy concern

  • Use an alert as a prompt to pay attention, not as confirmation of recording. The app does not provide exact location or recording status.
  • If you can do so safely, ask the person whether they are recording and request that they stop or leave a private area. Do not assume a device or its wearer is acting improperly based on an alert alone.
  • If the concern involves a workplace, business, or private space, raise it with the responsible property manager or another appropriate authority.
  • Check local rules before making legal claims or taking action. Recording laws depend on location and circumstances.

What the California bill analysis does—and does not—establish

The California Senate Committee on Health analysis discusses proposed provisions in SB 1130 concerning wearable recording devices in certain business areas where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy, as well as recording indicators. It is an analysis of a bill, not proof that those proposals became law. It summarizes California-specific material and cannot establish the rules that apply in another jurisdiction. Consult current local law or a qualified legal professional for guidance.
