Bij een cellular-model moet je daarnaast het mobiele abonnement apart laten stopzetten.
Ontkoppel de Watch met de gekoppelde iPhone
Dit is Apples aanbevolen manier om een Watch klaar te maken voor verkoop, weggeven of inruilen. Houd de iPhone en Watch dicht bij elkaar en volg deze stappen op de iPhone:

- Open de app Apple Watch.
- Tik op Mijn Watch en vervolgens op Alle watches.
- Tik op de infoknop naast de Watch die je wilt overdragen.
- Tik op Koppel Apple Watch los en bevestig je keuze.
- Voer het wachtwoord van je Apple Account in als daarom wordt gevraagd. Dat is nodig om het activeringsslot uit te schakelen.
De Watch wordt gewist en teruggezet naar de fabrieksinstellingen. Tijdens het ontkoppelen probeert de iPhone ook een reservekopie van de Watch te maken. Die kan van pas komen als je later een andere Apple Watch configureert.
Heb je een cellular-model? Regel het abonnement apart
Als je de Watch verkoopt of weggeeft, verwijder je het mobiele abonnement tijdens het ontkoppelen. Neem daarna zelf contact op met je provider om het abonnement op te zeggen. Het verwijderen van het abonnement van de Watch beëindigt de facturering niet automatisch; de provider kan hiervoor kosten rekenen.

Wat wordt gewist en wat blijft in iCloud staan?
Het wissen verwijdert lokale gegevens en instellingen van de Watch, waaronder Apple Pay-kaarten, foto’s, contacten, muziek en apps. Diensten zoals iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime en Game Center worden op de Watch uitgeschakeld. Je gegevens worden hierdoor niet uit iCloud verwijderd.
Geen toegang tot de gekoppelde iPhone?
Je kunt de Watch zelf wissen via Instellingen → Algemeen → Stel opnieuw in → Wis alle inhoud en instellingen. Dat zet de Watch terug naar de fabrieksinstellingen, maar verwijdert het activeringsslot niet. De nieuwe eigenaar kan daardoor nog steeds het activeringsslot tegenkomen en heeft dan het Apple Account en wachtwoord nodig dat aan de Watch gekoppeld is.

Kun je de gekoppelde iPhone later alsnog gebruiken, kies dan bij voorkeur de ontkoppelstappen hierboven. Apple waarschuwt ook dat de Watch geen simkaartsleuf of resetknop heeft; steek geen voorwerpen in openingen van de behuizing.
De Watch al overgedragen?
Je kunt de Watch op afstand wissen via Zoek mijn op iCloud.com en hem daarna uit je account verwijderen. Volg daarbij Apples actuele aanwijzingen op het scherm; de precieze benamingen en stappen kunnen veranderen. Als de Watch offline is, begint het wissen op afstand zodra het apparaat weer verbinding maakt.
