For a delivery, clear the drop area of people, pets, and obstacles, stay at least six feet away until the handoff is complete, and do not touch the package or Delivery Zip while it is descending or before the hardware has cleared the area.

Can Zipline deliver to my address?
There is no single nationwide address map that answers this for every customer. Zipline’s app is the practical authority: enter your delivery address, then review the stores, products, and time slots shown for that location. The catalog and eligibility can change as a market expands, so an address that is unavailable today may be added later, while a launch promotion may have a fixed enrollment cap.

Zipline’s October 2026 Austin announcement describes a “First Flight” early-access launch beginning in Round Rock and expanding over time as availability grows through Austin. The announcement says the initial access group is the first 5,000 residents who register in the app. That is a dated launch snapshot, not a guarantee that every Austin address is eligible or that the 5,000-person offer remains open.

Houston access
A separate Houston First Flight announcement describes access for select eligible residents, with initial enrollment limited to the first 5,000 eligible Houstonians. Eligibility and remaining capacity can change, so use the current in-app registration flow rather than relying on the original announcement.
Dallas–Fort Worth footprint
In the Houston announcement, Zipline said it had been operating in more than 20 municipalities across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex during the preceding year. That company-reported figure describes operations at that time; it does not identify every currently served street or promise service to a particular suburb.
What an FAA proposal means
The FAA environmental-review page contains proposed operations and draft material for Seattle and Texas metropolitan areas, along with completed reviews. A proposal or draft environmental assessment is not proof that customers can place orders there. For a real delivery decision, check your address in the app and look for a current market launch notice.
What can you order, and how much can a Zipline drone carry?
Zipline says customers order through its app from a changing local catalog. Depending on the market, that can include restaurant meals, groceries, retail goods, or healthcare items. The exact products, substitutions, minimums, and order constraints are presented during checkout and may differ between neighboring delivery zones.

Aircraft payload is not the same as your order limit
Zipline’s Platform 2 fact sheet lists an aircraft payload of 8 pounds, a 10-mile service radius, and tethered delivery from as high as 300 feet above ground. Those are system specifications. They describe what the aircraft and mission can be designed to carry, not a promise that a customer can place an 8-pound order or that every item under that weight is eligible.
A 2023 Platform 2 announcement describes a 6–8-pound payload for out-and-back missions from one dock and separately discusses dock-to-dock flight options. The different figures reflect mission configurations; they should not be flattened into one guaranteed consumer allowance.
Package dimensions and item eligibility
The reviewed company materials do not publish a universal consumer-facing package-dimension table or a definitive checkout weight for every market. An item can be excluded because of its dimensions, shape, temperature requirements, handling rules, or local merchant policy even when its weight is below the aircraft’s stated payload. Treat the app’s available catalog and checkout warnings as controlling for your address.

Platform 1 and Platform 2: what is the difference?
Zipline describes two aircraft roles. Platform 1 is aimed at long-range enterprise, business, and government deliveries. Platform 2 is the home-delivery system that uses a tethered Delivery Zip to place an order at a precise location.

Because Platform 2 can be configured for different mission profiles, its aircraft specification should not be used to calculate a personal order limit. The products and quantities that appear after you enter your address are the relevant constraints for a purchase.
How does a Zipline delivery reach your yard?
Platform 2 is designed to keep the aircraft aloft while a separate Delivery Zip descends on a tether. Zipline says the Delivery Zip can maneuver the package to a precise destination such as a yard, rather than requiring the aircraft itself to land beside the customer.
- Choose an eligible address. Enter your location in the app and select from the merchants and products shown for that delivery zone.
- Confirm the drop location. The app may request or display a specific yard or other delivery point. Make sure the selected area is accessible and free of people, animals, branches, wires, vehicles, and other obstacles.
- Monitor the approach. Follow any arrival messages and additional restrictions shown in the app. Keep everyone away from the marked delivery area before the hardware arrives.
- Let the tethered unit lower the order. The aircraft remains in the air while the Delivery Zip brings the package down. Do not reach for the package during descent.
- Wait for a complete clear. The package must be fully lowered, and the Delivery Zip must fully clear the delivery area before anyone approaches or touches it.
- Retrieve the order and inspect it. Once the app indicates completion and the equipment has departed, collect the package and follow the merchant’s instructions for food, medicine, or other time-sensitive products.
Zipline attributes the aircraft’s autonomous navigation to systems intended to avoid obstacles, other aircraft, and unsafe landing areas. That is the company’s description of its technology, not a guarantee that an incident is impossible or that customers can ignore the operating instructions.
What safety rules must customers follow?
Zipline’s consumer terms provide the clearest customer-facing requirements. The terms state: “You agree to clear your delivery location of any people, pets, or other obstacles during delivery and stay at least six (6) feet from the delivery area until the delivery is complete.”

The same section states: “You agree not to touch, nor to allow or cause other people, pets, or objects to touch, the package containing the Products until it has been fully lowered to the ground and the Delivery Zip has fully cleared the delivery area.” These excerpts are from the terms page checked on October 13, 2026.
Before the aircraft arrives
- Move people and pets indoors or well away from the marked drop zone.
- Remove toys, garden tools, loose furniture, umbrellas, and other objects that could obstruct the tethered unit.
- Check overhead and nearby conditions, including branches, wires, fences, and vehicles.
- Tell household members and visitors not to enter the area until the app confirms completion.
During the descent
- Remain at least six feet from the delivery area.
- Do not pull, hold, guide, or otherwise touch the Delivery Zip, tether, or package.
- Keep pets and children away even if the aircraft appears to be hovering steadily.
- Follow any extra restrictions or instructions displayed in the app or sent by Zipline.
After the drop
Wait until the package is fully on the ground and the Delivery Zip has completely cleared the area. Only then should you or another person retrieve the order. If the hardware pauses, moves unexpectedly, or the app does not mark the delivery complete, stay clear and follow the support instructions rather than approaching it.
The terms warn that ignoring these directions may cause serious bodily injury or property damage. The six-foot rule is an operating instruction, not a statement that every delivery is risk-free.
How should you check availability before ordering?
- Install or open the official Zipline app. Use the current app rather than an old launch article or a map screenshot.
- Enter the exact delivery address. Apartment buildings, gated communities, and neighboring streets may receive different results.
- Review the live merchant list. The catalog is local and changing; a merchant named in a launch announcement may not be visible in your zone today.
- Read item and quantity limits at checkout. Do not infer an allowable order from the 8-pound aircraft payload.
- Confirm the drop area. Select a location that can be cleared and observed without anyone standing within six feet.
- Check launch eligibility. If a First Flight program has an enrollment cap, registration may close after the stated number of participants.
What if the app says service is unavailable?
Your address is outside the active zone
Service boundaries can stop at a street, municipality, or operating corridor. Recheck the address for typos, then look for a current market announcement. Do not treat an FAA proposal or environmental-review record as evidence that ordering is live.

The market is announced but enrollment is closed
Early-access programs can be limited to a stated group, such as the first 5,000 Austin residents or first 5,000 eligible Houstonians described in the launch announcements. A closed registration window requires waiting for a later expansion or new enrollment notice; changing the address to bypass eligibility does not establish that delivery is available.
The catalog is smaller than expected
Zipline says the app displays a changing local catalog. Availability can differ by merchant, time, inventory, product category, and delivery zone. An item’s absence does not show that the aircraft lacks capacity, and an item’s presence does not mean every quantity can be combined into one order.
The delivery location cannot be cleared
Choose another eligible drop point if the app permits it, or cancel before dispatch according to the app’s instructions. Never improvise by standing beneath the aircraft, moving the tether, or asking someone to catch the package.

Zipline says its aircraft use autonomous navigation to avoid obstacles, other aircraft, and unsafe landing areas, and that it operates with FAA approval while working with local governments. These statements describe the company’s system and operating approach.
The FAA environmental-review page records proposed and completed reviews for particular areas. Environmental review is one part of the regulatory picture; it does not by itself establish current customer service, a specific route, or an address-level approval. For a local decision, combine the current app result with the latest market information and the instructions supplied for your order.
Key figures at a glance
- 8 pounds: Platform 2 payload listed by Zipline’s fact sheet; this is an aircraft specification, not a universal checkout limit.
- 10 miles: Platform 2 service radius listed on the same fact sheet.

Bottom line for prospective customers
Use the app to answer the only address question that matters: whether your location can place an order now. Use the live catalog and checkout to determine what you may buy; do not convert an aircraft payload into a personal weight or size allowance. If a delivery is available, clear the drop zone, keep people and pets at least six feet away, and wait for both the package to reach the ground and the Delivery Zip to leave before touching anything.
