For the smoothest Zenless Zone Zero experience, first match your device to HoYoverse’s published requirements, then reduce the options that add the most rendering or scene-management work. On PC, start with Crowd Density set lower, use DX11 unless your graphics card qualifies for DX12 features, leave ray tracing off unless you have the required VRAM, and use super resolution or frame generation only after completing their hardware and Windows setup. On mobile, the official guidance establishes chipset, RAM, operating-system and storage baselines, but does not publish a current universal slider preset for Android or iPhone.
The figures below are publisher requirements and feature guidance, not independent frame-rate tests. Meeting a “recommended” specification does not guarantee a particular FPS at a particular resolution.

Check whether your device is eligible before changing graphics
Settings cannot compensate for hardware below the game’s published baseline. HoYoverse’s July 2, 2024 pre-download notice lists the following requirements. Treat them as the stated compatibility targets, not recently revalidated benchmarks for every device.

Install the PC client on an SSD if possible. HoYoverse explicitly recommends an SSD for the best gaming experience; that recommendation concerns installation and loading behavior, not a guaranteed increase in rendered frame rate.

macOS is not supported according to that notice. An iPhone or iPad that meets the listed model and operating-system requirement is eligible, but the notice does not promise a fixed frame rate or define a universal quality preset.

Chipset names cover many different phones with different displays, cooling systems and firmware. Use the table to establish eligibility, then judge stability on your specific handset rather than assuming that every phone with the same chip behaves identically.
Use this PC setup order for a smooth baseline
- Install to an SSD and leave working space. The PC notice lists 57 GB for the installed files and an additional 58 GB while the package is decompressed. Keep both the game space and decompression space available before starting an update.
- Launch with conservative graphics. Begin with your display’s native resolution, disable optional ray tracing, and select the ordinary compatible renderer (DX11) unless you have a supported DX12 card and a reason to test it.
- Lower Crowd Density when scenes hitch. Open Options → Graphics → Crowd Density. Version 3.1 added this control specifically so players can reduce device performance pressure and improve smoothness. The announcement does not state a universal low, medium or high value, nor a guaranteed frame-rate gain, so move it downward and judge the result in the places where you notice stutter.
- Add advanced features one at a time. If you enable DX12, ray tracing, super resolution or frame generation, change one feature, load the same type of scene and check behavior before changing another. This makes it possible to identify which feature causes a problem.
Choose DX11 or DX12 according to compatibility
DX11 is the more compatible mode. DX12 is an optional path for specific recent graphics cards and can expose the game’s newer visual features, but it is not a universal “faster” switch.

On a qualifying PC, the launcher shows a DX12 option beneath Start Game. Uncheck it to return to DX11. HoYoverse’s July 29, 2026 PC FAQ recommends Nvidia driver 591.86 or later and AMD driver 26.6.1 or later for this feature; driver requirements can change, so verify the current FAQ when updating the game.
Allow the first shader compilation to finish
The first DX12 launch automatically compiles shaders. HoYoverse says this can cause brief stutters and is normal. Do not treat that initial pass as proof that DX12 will stutter permanently. If compilation is interrupted, use the launcher’s Repair Tool to restart it. If repeated stutters continue after compilation completes, switch back to DX11 and compare.
Keep ray tracing as an optional visual upgrade
Ray tracing is currently limited to city scenes and selected combat scenes; elsewhere the game returns to its default global-illumination behavior. It therefore adds visual work without affecting every scene, and it is not the first setting to enable on a borderline PC.

Hardware and VRAM guidance
- Ray tracing requires an NVIDIA 20 Series or newer GPU with RT Cores.
- Cards with less than 8 GB of VRAM are excluded by the FAQ.
- HoYoverse’s resolution guidance is at least 8 GB VRAM for 1080p, 12 GB for 1440p and 16 GB for 2160p.
- The FAQ pairs Medium ray-tracing quality with 1080p and 1440p, and High with 2160p.
Those VRAM figures are guidance for the feature, not a promise that every card at that capacity will deliver a particular FPS. To test it, open Options → Graphics → Advanced → Ray Tracing. HoYoverse recommends using DLSS or FSR Super Resolution with ray tracing to retain smoother gameplay.

Super resolution renders internally at a lower workload and reconstructs the image for the selected output. The available mode depends on the GPU family:

Open Options → Display → Advanced → Super Resolution. While it is enabled, the ordinary Anti-Aliasing and Rendering controls cannot be adjusted. Use Super Resolution Quality Level to choose the balance between image quality and frame rate. If the image looks too soft, raise the quality level; if performance remains poor, lower it before adding more demanding effects.

Enable frame generation only after Windows is configured
Frame generation creates additional displayed frames from rendered frames. It can make motion look smoother, but it does not remove the underlying rendering workload and requires specific hardware and Windows settings.

Required Windows and in-game steps
- In Windows, open System → Display → Graphics.
- Turn on Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling.
- Restart Windows. The restart is part of the setup; enabling the toggle without rebooting may leave the feature unavailable.
- In Zenless Zone Zero, open Options → Graphics → Advanced → Frame Generation and select the supported mode.
- Turn V-Sync off and set the game’s FPS option to Unlimited or 60, which HoYoverse recommends for frame generation.
If performance gets worse after enabling frame generation, first confirm that Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling is still enabled and that you restarted Windows. If the GPU is not in the support table, leave frame generation off rather than forcing an unsupported mode.

The published mobile notice provides eligibility requirements, not a current Android or iOS slider recipe. It does not establish universal values for resolution, shadows, effects, frame cap, battery use or device temperature, and it does not provide device-by-device FPS results. Avoid copying a PC preset onto a phone or assuming that a chipset name alone determines sustained performance.

A practical mobile check
- Confirm the phone or tablet meets the relevant chipset, RAM and operating-system row above.
- Free at least the listed storage amount before downloading: 20 GB on Android or 26 GB on iOS.
- Install the latest game build available to your platform and begin with the game’s own default mobile profile.
- Use the documented Options → Graphics → Crowd Density control if your version exposes it, lowering it when busy scenes feel uneven.
- Change only one additional graphics control at a time and test the same type of scene. Keep the setting that improves consistency on your particular device; there is no official universal value to substitute for that test.
Troubleshoot by symptom
Stutter only on the first DX12 launch
Let shader compilation complete. Brief stutters during that first compilation are expected. If it was interrupted, run the launcher Repair Tool and allow it to restart.
DX12 option is missing
Check the GPU family: the documented list is NVIDIA 20 Series or newer with RT Cores, or AMD Radeon RX 7000/RX 9000. Unsupported cards remain on DX11.
Ray tracing cannot be enabled
Verify both requirements: an NVIDIA 20 Series-or-newer RT Core GPU and at least 8 GB of VRAM. The resolution guidance rises to 12 GB at 1440p and 16 GB at 2160p.
Frame generation makes motion worse
Confirm Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling, restart Windows, disable V-Sync and use an FPS value of Unlimited or 60. If the GPU is outside the listed support range, turn frame generation off.
Performance remains poor after lowering Crowd Density
Compare the device with the published baseline. Crowd Density is a pressure-relief option, not a guarantee of a fixed FPS increase. On PC, return to DX11 and disable ray tracing before testing other features; on mobile, remain within the documented chipset, RAM, OS and storage requirements and avoid assuming that a different preset will overcome unsupported hardware.
