SECU’s instructions cover personal accounts and eligible small-business accounts. If Zelle does not appear for your small-business account, contact SECU to check eligibility.

How to receive or request money

Receive a payment

Share the email address or U.S. mobile number enrolled with Zelle. If someone sends a payment notification before you enroll, follow the link in the notice, select SECU, and enroll using the same email address or mobile number that received it.

Request a payment

Choose Request, enter the recipient’s enrolled email address, U.S. mobile number, or Zelle tag, verify the recipient, and submit the request.

Use a QR code

In the Zelle section of the app, choose Send and tap the QR icon. Select My Code to view or share your code. Before sending to someone whose code you scan, confirm that the name shown in the app matches the person you intend to pay.

Eligibility, fees, and transfer timing

A May 17, 2024 SECU announcement reported limits of $2,400 per day and a maximum of $4,000 per month. Those figures are historical, not confirmed current limits. Check the limit shown in the app or contact SECU before relying on a particular amount.

Know the risks before you send

Use Zelle with people and small businesses you know and trust—not to pay an unfamiliar seller on an online sales or bidding site. SECU warns that neither it nor Zelle offers purchase protection if an item does not arrive or is different from what was promised.

Review the recipient’s name and enrolled email address or mobile number before confirming. A payment sent to an already-enrolled recipient goes directly to that person’s account and generally cannot be canceled. You can cancel a pending payment only if the recipient has not enrolled. If you sent money to the wrong person, contact SECU promptly at 800-879-7328. SECU says qualifying imposter scams may be eligible for reimbursement; that does not mean every scam or payment dispute qualifies.

Using Zelle for an eligible small business

SECU says eligible small-business accounts can send, receive, and request money through the app or online banking. To accept customer payments, share the email address or U.S. mobile number enrolled with Zelle. SECU charges no fee for small-business Zelle use, although carrier messaging and data charges may apply. Contact member support if the Zelle option is missing from your account.
