Reports say The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 led Amazon preorder charts in several countries and outsold GTA 6 on its first preorder day at Amazon Brazil. But the available evidence does not establish an Amazon-wide sales record or a verified, like-for-like global comparison. These are separate claims about different marketplaces, rankings and preorder measures.
Did Ocarina of Time set an Amazon preorder record?
That record is not confirmed by the available evidence. Journal du Geek reported that the game was leading Amazon preorder charts in the United States, Japan and France, attributing the report to IGN. The article does not provide Amazon sales figures, and the underlying IGN report or Amazon data was not available to verify. A chart lead is not the same as a confirmed record: it shows relative placement, not how many copies were ordered or whether any past title was surpassed.

No primary Amazon announcement or comparable dataset was found to substantiate a record. The safest reading is that the game was reported to be topping charts in those markets—not that Amazon confirmed record-breaking sales.

Amazon Brazil: a reported first-day comparison
Conecta Geek reported that the Zelda game exceeded GTA 6 in preorders on the first day at Amazon Brazil. Rage Crítico also reported the comparison and noted that Amazon had not publicly confirmed it. Neither report provides order counts or Amazon’s methodology, so the claim should be treated as reported first-day performance in one marketplace, not an independently verified sales comparison.

Spain: a separate retailer’s physical reservations
GameTimers reported that Spanish retailer Wakkap logged 120 physical reservations for Ocarina of Time for every physical GTA VI reservation on the first day. That is a retailer-specific ratio, not Amazon data or a market-wide statistic, and the report does not provide an independently audited count.
These reports describe different things: Amazon chart positions across three markets, a reported first-day comparison at Amazon Brazil, and a Spanish shop’s ratio of physical reservations. They cannot be combined into one Amazon-wide result or treated as equivalent sales measurements.

The reports concern a physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. TechRadar reported that its initial physical run would have textured foil packaging and listed November 5, 2026 as the release date. Those details are secondary reporting; the available coverage does not include a Nintendo announcement confirming them. Check Nintendo’s current product information or a retailer listing for the latest release and packaging details.
