Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 5, 2026. Alongside rebuilt graphics, voiced scenes and modern controls, it adds a Hall of Fallen Foes where players can replay bosses and record their completion times. That makes individual-boss speedrunning a supported feature rather than something players must time themselves.
What the Hall of Fallen Foes does
The Hall of Fallen Foes is a new, interactive bestiary. Enemy statues can be inspected for short descriptions, while boss statues provide access to repeat fights. During a rematch, an on-screen timer tracks the encounter so you can compare one attempt with another or work toward a faster personal time.

Nintendo Wire’s 2026 overview-trailer report confirms the boss rematches and timing function, but Nintendo and the report have not yet stated how the hall unlocks, whether it has medals or rankings, or whether victories award items. Those systems should not be treated as confirmed features.
Can you speedrun individual bosses?
Yes. The timer is designed for boss-by-boss attempts, letting you practice a single encounter without replaying the entire story. The available information does not establish online leaderboards, global rankings, split times or an official category system, so the confirmed feature is local tracking and comparison of individual boss times.

ZELDA NOTES in the Nintendo Switch App
The Nintendo Switch App adds several supplementary activities: a daily accomplishment record, location-finding challenges, a virtual ocarina and a quiz containing more than 2,000 questions. The game can also respond when players hum learned melodies near the Switch 2 microphone. These functions require the app and compatible Switch 2 features; Nintendo’s announcement does not specify every regional availability or account requirement.
What remains unknown about rematches

Until Nintendo publishes those details, the safest expectation is a practice-and-record feature for personal bests, not a certified esports leaderboard.

Should you buy it for the boss mode?
The remake is most significant for players who want a modern presentation of Ocarina of Time and a convenient way to repeat boss fights. The Hall of Fallen Foes removes the need for manual timers and gives practice sessions a clear record. However, anyone expecting confirmed online rankings, reward tiers or a fully specified speedrun rule set should wait for Nintendo to explain those systems.
