Yes, a clip circulating since October 4, 2026, reportedly shows The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running at 4K on a jailbroken PlayStation 5. The setup uses the Wii U version of the game with Cemu through the unofficial PS5CEMU-HAR homebrew app—not the Switch version, Yuzu, or Ryujinx. A report describes the clip as running at 30 FPS, but that figure has not been independently benchmarked.
What the PS5 demonstration actually shows
The clip appeared on X on October 4, 2026, and gaming outlets reported it on October 5 and 6. The identified app is PS5CEMU-HAR, a homebrew project that bundles Cemu for Wii U emulation and Azahar for 3DS emulation. In this demonstration, Cemu runs the Wii U release of Breath of the Wild on a jailbroken PS5.

That distinction matters: Yuzu and Ryujinx are Switch emulators. Neither is the emulator shown in this PS5 demonstration. The reported 4K output and 30 FPS come from secondary coverage of the clip, not an independent test. El Chapuzas Informático describes the output as native 3840×2160 at 30 FPS; it also says an attempted 60 FPS patch reached about 40 FPS with stability problems. Those are the outlet’s descriptions, not verified benchmark results. El Chapuzas Informático’s report and GamesRadar’s coverage report on the demonstration.

PS5CEMU-HAR is unofficial software and requires a jailbroken PS5 with firmware supported by the homebrew scene. The project’s documentation says firmware compatibility varies and can change. It describes most Wii U games tried with the project as playable, while noting that 3DS support has had less testing on real hardware.

The app does not make the demonstration a supported Sony or Nintendo feature. Its maintainers state: “This is an unofficial project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Cemu or Azahar teams, Nintendo or Sony.” The README also says the project does not include game files, keys, firmware, or other copyrighted console data. This article does not provide instructions for obtaining those materials or bypassing console protections.
How Yuzu and Ryujinx fit into the story
The headline shorthand that Nintendo “took down” Yuzu and Ryujinx needs qualification. Ryujinx’s documentation says the original project was discontinued on October 1, 2024; its current site describes a separate continuation as a quality-of-life uplift, not a revival. That history does not establish that Nintendo directly removed every Ryujinx repository.

On February 12, 2026, Nintendo submitted a DMCA notice to GitHub identifying multiple Switch-emulator repositories, including repositories associated with Yuzu and Ryujinx. The notice alleges that the named repositories circumvent Nintendo’s technical protections. That is Nintendo’s position in its notice, not a blanket court ruling about every emulator or every use of emulation. Nintendo’s UK legal-information page says unauthorized emulators encourage use of unauthorized copies; that, too, is Nintendo’s stated view.
PS5 homebrew or the official Switch 2 Edition?
These are different ways to play, not equivalent versions or a performance comparison. The PS5 clip uses emulation of the Wii U release on an unsupported, jailbroken console. Nintendo offers an official Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for its own platform. Nintendo support lists update 1.9.0 for that edition, released February 17, 2026. The sources available for the PS5 clip do not establish an apples-to-apples performance comparison with Nintendo’s edition.
