According to a Yahoo News / AT&T report published October 2, 2026, YouTuber Peter Sripol built a homemade, propeller-driven sled from a repurposed aircraft frame and salvaged parts. The report says it reached 40 mph on open, snow-covered roads, but turning was difficult—and the Buffalo Wild Wings he tried to visit was closed. The speed, construction details and failed errand are claims attributed to that secondary report, not independently verified test results.
What the “snow plane” was—and what it was not
The report uses “snow plane” as a playful name for a custom air sled. It describes a ground vehicle propelled by a rear-facing propeller, not an aircraft designed to fly. Sripol reportedly started with the steel fuselage from an earlier project he called Airplane Mark III, which he considered overbuilt and no longer useful. He cut it with an angle grinder and welded the frame into a sled.
The report’s account of the build is available through Yahoo News / AT&T’s October 2, 2026 report. The page could not be fetched directly, and the original video was not verified, so the details below should be read as the report’s description rather than a confirmed inspection of the machine.
How the reported build worked
| Part | Reported role |
|---|---|
| Steel aircraft-project frame | Reworked as the sled’s chassis. |
| 185cc paramotor engine | Mounted at the rear to drive a pusher propeller. The displacement is stated in the report; no engine make or model is given. |
| Children’s snowboards | Used as skis beneath the vehicle. |
| Leaf spring | Provided a simple suspension arrangement. |
| Salvaged acrylic sheets | Used to enclose the cockpit. |
| 12-volt car heater | Added for warmth; the report gives no model or installation-safety details. |
| Wood block operated by a lever | Served as the reported brake. |
The source attributes to Sripol the statement, “This is not up to any aviation standards whatsoever.” Because the original video was not checked, that wording is attributable to the report rather than independently confirmed here.

Did it really reach 40 mph?
The Yahoo News / AT&T report says the sled reached 40 mph on open, snow-covered roads. That is a reported figure, not an independently verified speed record: the available account does not establish a measurement method, test protocol, exact location, or storm conditions. The report also recounts runs through empty fields and a Lowe’s parking lot, but those settings do not amount to a documented performance or safety test.
Why speed did not make it easy to drive
The same report says the long wheelbase made the sled difficult to turn. That is a consequential trade-off: reaching a high reported speed in a straight run says little about how quickly a machine can change direction or avoid an obstacle. The report describes a wood-block brake operated by a lever, but offers no stopping-distance measurement or independent evaluation of how effectively it stopped.

It also does not establish that the vehicle was legal to operate on public roads, or provide enough information to assess its safety. An improvised cockpit, heater, propeller drive and braking setup should not be treated as a tested or road-ready design.
Why the chicken wings remained out of reach
According to the report, Sripol set out for Buffalo Wild Wings because he wanted chicken wings. The restaurant was closed, so the trip ended without the intended meal—not because the sled had failed to travel. The report attributes this remark to him: “Even though you have a vehicle that drives around the snow, they close places early. So we have to leave cuz they’re not open,” followed by his observation that the machine’s practical use was unclear. The original video and the restaurant’s status were not independently confirmed.

What the story does—and does not—establish
The appeal is the contrast: an elaborate, propeller-driven homemade machine reportedly crossed snow at speed, yet could not solve the ordinary problem of finding an open restaurant. The account gives a parts overview and a reported top speed, but it does not provide a full build plan, verified measurements, exact storm details, road-approval information, or evidence that the vehicle is safe to copy.
A third-party mirror listing shows a PeterSripol video titled “Building a Snow AIR speeder (snow plane)” with a displayed runtime of 20:54. That listing does not independently verify the October 2026 report’s claims, and its view count can change; it is not a substitute for direct confirmation from the original video.
