Find the key in the right channel
- Sign in to the Google Account that has access to the YouTube channel.
- In YouTube Studio, use the channel switcher to select the intended Brand Account channel. A Brand Account channel may be managed by people using their own Google Accounts, so signing in alone does not guarantee that the correct channel is selected.
- Choose Create → Go Live → Stream to open the Live Control Room’s Stream tab. Review the stream settings for an existing or newly created stream. YouTube says saved stream settings, including the key, can reload if that channel has streamed before. See Manage live stream settings.
YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Treat the key as a private credential; it tells an encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it.

Check your Brand Account permissions
If the correct channel is selected but the key is unavailable, check the role assigned to your Google Account under the channel’s permissions. YouTube recommends managing access through channel permissions rather than sharing sign-in details.

These are distinct permissions: being able to manage live streams does not necessarily mean you can reset the key. Ask the channel owner to review your role if you are a Viewer or Viewer (limited), or if you need a reset and are not an owner or manager. If the channel still uses Brand Account access
The primary owner can move access management to Studio channel permissions through Settings → Permissions → Move permissions, then invite users and assign roles. Existing users need a permission level and must accept the invitation. See Migrate from Brand Account user access to channel permissions.
Confirm live streaming is enabled
Computer live streaming requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. In Studio, check Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility for the channel’s access status. YouTube classifies computer live streaming under intermediate feature access and describes verification-related limits in its feature access guidance. If this is your first live stream
First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. If you have just enabled live streaming, allow that activation period to complete; YouTube says you can stream instantly once the feature is enabled. Details: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Reset the key only when necessary
If the key may have been exposed, an owner or manager can reset it in the stream settings. Resetting invalidates the old key, so replace it in the encoder with the new one before trying to go live. Editors and viewers cannot reset a key. YouTube’s steps and key-handling guidance are in Manage live stream settings.

Connect the key to an encoder
The key is a YouTube Studio setting, not a control on a webcam or other equipment. To use it, open Studio and choose Create → Go Live → Stream; create a stream if needed, then enter the YouTube server URL and stream key in your encoder. If the encoder offers a direct option to stream to YouTube, YouTube says you can select it instead. Follow the encoder’s own instructions for where those fields appear.
What the India-specific evidence does—and does not—say
YouTube’s India-locale feature-access page covers verification and feature eligibility, while its channel-permission and stream-setting help explains access to keys and reset rights. Those published materials do not establish an India-specific cause for a missing key. If the correct channel is selected, your role permits access, and live streaming is enabled but the control still does not appear, the public guidance does not identify the cause; contact YouTube support for account-specific help.
