After a power cut, do not assume a YouTube stream health warning means your stream key is wrong. First read the specific message in YouTube Live Control Room, then check whether your PC encoder is sending video and audio, whether the outbound connection is working, and whether the encoder’s server URL and stream key match Live Control Room. Confirm recovery in the preview and check the event and any local recording; YouTube does not guarantee seamless recovery after an interruption.
1. Read the warning in YouTube Live Control Room
Open the affected stream in YouTube Live Control Room and inspect Stream health. YouTube says stream status includes specific error messages with instructions. Follow the message before changing settings: a warning alone does not prove the stream key is wrong.

2. Check what the encoder is sending
On the home PC, confirm the encoder has restarted and is outputting the intended picture and sound. Check its preview or output indicators, CPU load, and local recording if you record one. YouTube recommends using the latest encoder version and checking encoder output, CPU load, and the local archive when investigating encoder problems. See YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance.
Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11- If the encoder is not running, restart it and confirm the correct scene, media source, audio input, and streaming destination are selected.
- If the encoder reports an error starting, note the exact error before changing credentials or server settings.
- If the encoder shows healthy picture and sound but YouTube is not receiving the feed, continue to the outbound connection check.
3. Test the outbound internet connection
A working encoder preview only confirms what the PC is producing; it does not prove the feed is reaching YouTube. Test the connection’s outbound capacity and stability. If the connection itself is failing, contact your internet service provider. YouTube notes that a network disruption can break a stream and says, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream” in its streaming tips.

Check whether the router has also lost power or restarted, and whether the PC is back on the intended wired or wireless connection. Avoid repeatedly changing encoder settings while the network is still unavailable; first establish that the PC can reach the internet reliably.
4. Verify the YouTube server URL and protocol
Compare the server URL configured in the encoder with the one shown for the stream in Live Control Room. Check both the address and protocol. If you are using RTMPS, use the RTMPS URL rather than assuming a standard RTMP URL is interchangeable, and confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS. YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting page says to check the protocol and server; for an SSL error, it suggests trying port 443 in the URL or configuration.

5. Refresh the stream key only if the error points there
If the encoder reports an error starting and the other configuration appears correct, copy the current stream key from Live Control Room and update it in the encoder, as YouTube recommends in its troubleshooting guidance. A stream key tells the encoder where to send the feed and lets YouTube accept it. Treat it like a password: do not post it publicly or share screenshots that expose it. YouTube explains stream keys in its stream key help.
6. Confirm the stream has actually recovered
- Check that the Live Control Room preview shows the expected picture and sound.
- Check Stream health again for a healthy status or any remaining error message.
- Verify that the live event can be viewed; do not rely solely on the encoder saying it is streaming.
- If you record locally, confirm that the archive file is growing and can be opened.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish whether an interruption reconnects as the same event, whether viewers experience continuous playback, or whether a resulting video will contain the whole interruption. Check the live event and the resulting archive rather than promising viewers an uninterrupted replay. See YouTube’s live stream metrics guidance and its live streaming help.

What to tell viewers
If the event is unavailable, give viewers a brief update through a channel you can still access and direct them to the live event again once it is working. Do not promise a seamless restart or a complete archive: the available YouTube guidance does not guarantee either after a power interruption. Check the event and recording first, then say what is confirmed.

Consider a desktop UPS
A desktop UPS can provide backup power to protected equipment during an outage. Eaton lists PCs, routers, and networking devices among the equipment used with desktop UPS units. A UPS may reduce the chance that a short power cut immediately shuts down the PC and network equipment connected to it; it cannot restore an ended stream or guarantee that the internet service stays available. See Eaton’s desktop UPS information.

- 12 NEMA 5-15R OUTLETS: Six battery backup & surge protected outlets; Six surge protected outlets (Three ECO controlled); INPUT: NEMA 5-15P right angle, 45 degree offset plug with five foot power cord
- MULTIFUNCTION LCD PANEL: Displays immediate, detailed information on battery and power conditions

- 3-YEAR WARRANTY – INCLUDING THE BATTERY; $100,000 Connected Equipment Guarantee and FREE PowerPanel Personal Edition Management Software (Download)
Size it for your actual equipment
Before choosing a UPS, total the maximum wattage of the PC and networking equipment you want backed up, decide how long you need them to run, and check local electrical compatibility and outlet type. Eaton says the unit must support the connected equipment’s total maximum wattage, and that heavier load reduces runtime. The cited information does not establish a particular India-market model or its current availability. See Eaton’s UPS buying guide.
