Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If a YouTube live stream repeatedly disconnects overnight on BSNL broadband, first find out which link is failing: the encoder, your local network, or the broadband connection. The timing alone does not prove BSNL is throttling or interrupting streams. Capture what happens at the exact moment of a reset, then test the encoder and network layer by layer.
Start by recording the next reset
Before restarting the encoder or modem, note the local time and time zone, the encoder’s exact error, the bitrate and dropped-frame readings, and the stream-health message in YouTube Live Control Room. Also check whether ordinary browsing from another device on the same connection fails at that moment and whether the modem, router, or ONT indicators change.

- If the encoder reports a healthy output but YouTube shows delivery trouble, investigate the outbound network path.
- If other devices also lose internet, or the access-device indicators change, the problem is more likely somewhere in the local connection or broadband service than in the video settings alone.
- If only the encoder or stream fails while other internet use continues, check encoder stability, settings, and its connection to the router.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the encoder first; if its output looks and sounds healthy, test the strength of the outbound internet connection and contact the ISP if that connection is faulty. YouTube live-stream troubleshooting

Run a representative test
Update the encoder, check its CPU load and output, and run a private or unlisted test with the same resolution, frame rate, audio, and representative motion as the overnight stream. Watch YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health status during the test. A static screen may use less bandwidth than moving video, so test the actual content rather than relying on an idle scene.

YouTube advises testing before an event, monitoring stream health, matching quality to the connection, and assessing upload capacity with a speed test. A single speed-test peak does not show that a connection can sustain the same bitrate throughout an overnight broadcast. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance
Use YouTube’s encoder settings as a baseline
For YouTube ingestion, use CBR and set the keyframe interval to two seconds; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. Choose bitrate according to the codec, resolution, and frame rate in YouTube’s current settings table, then leave headroom for normal fluctuations in upload capacity.
For example, YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate for 1080p at 30 fps is 14 Mbps; its recommendation for AV1 or H.265 at the same resolution and frame rate is 10 Mbps. These are platform recommendations, not evidence that a particular BSNL line can continuously sustain either rate. Check the current table for your exact settings: YouTube encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

Isolate Wi-Fi, cable, and router issues
Test over Ethernet
If the encoder is connected over Wi-Fi, test it over Ethernet during a comparable stream. Check that the cable is seated and that the router or modem’s LAN indicator shows a link. BSNL’s Chennai broadband guide recommends checking or changing the Ethernet cable when the Ethernet/LAN light is off. The guide is regional and legacy material, so its device-specific interface details may not match current equipment. BSNL broadband guide
A wired test can help separate Wi-Fi trouble from an upstream fault. Buying a cable is relevant only if you need one for that test or the existing cable/link appears suspect; it cannot fix a fault beyond your premises.
Check whether other devices stay connected
During the next reset, try opening a webpage from another device on the same router. If that device also loses internet, note the result for BSNL support. If it remains online, the fault may be limited to the encoder’s Wi-Fi or Ethernet path, its configuration, or the stream delivery route; the observation narrows the possibilities but does not identify a cause by itself.

Check the access technology and device indicators
For DSL or ADSL
BSNL’s Chennai guide says that a DSL light that is off, blinking, or repeatedly going off warrants checking loose connections and the wiring, splitter, and modem path. If DSL remains steady but browsing fails on a PPPoE setup, check the modem’s WAN status for an authentication failure. These steps apply to DSL/ADSL equipment, not automatically to fiber or AirFiber service.

For fiber, ONT, or AirFiber
Record the indicators shown by your own ONT or service equipment and check the current regional BSNL support instructions for that model and access type. Do not apply DSL synchronization or PPPoE instructions to fiber or AirFiber unless your equipment and service use those functions.
Consider RTMPS for secure ingestion
YouTube recommends RTMPS, which carries RTMP through an SSL connection. If your encoder supports RTMPS, select the YouTube-provided RTMPS server option and use the matching stream key. Follow the encoder’s and YouTube’s current instructions for entering the server URL and key; do not reuse a key in a public post.

RTMPS is a security recommendation, not a demonstrated fix for an unstable Wi-Fi link, access line, ISP route, or modem. Switching protocols does not establish which layer caused a reset. Google’s RTMPS ingestion documentation

If the issue recurs, provide support with several timestamped examples rather than only saying that streams fail at night. Include the local time and time zone, encoder error text, YouTube stream-health message, bitrate and dropped-frame readings, whether other devices lost internet, and any modem, router, or ONT indicator changes. Ask whether line or session diagnostics are available for those windows.

Common symptoms and what to check
| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Encoder output appears healthy, but YouTube reports stream trouble | Record stream-health details and investigate outbound upload stability; compare the bitrate with YouTube’s recommendations. |
| Encoder drops frames and other devices also lose internet | Record the time and access-device indicators; test wired if currently on Wi-Fi, then report the shared connection loss to BSNL. |
| Wi-Fi stream fails but an Ethernet test holds steady | Focus on the wireless link and router placement or connectivity before attributing the fault to the ISP. |
| DSL indicator goes off or blinks at the reset | Check connections, splitter, wiring, and modem path; include the indicator behavior in the support report. |
| DSL stays steady but PPPoE browsing fails | Check modem WAN status for authentication errors and share the result with BSNL. |
| Changing from RTMP to RTMPS does not stop resets | Continue isolating local network and access-service behavior; RTMPS secures ingestion but is not a guaranteed stability fix. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If maintaining a direct overnight stream from your own encoder is the part you want to avoid, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube from the cloud: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay powered on at home. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded videos and playlists, not a camera feed, and it does not diagnose or repair a BSNL connection.
