Choose OBS when you need to produce a live feed—combining sources, changing scenes, or controlling audio and video during the broadcast. They are not direct substitutes: a Premiere is a scheduled way to present an uploaded video, while OBS is production software that sends an encoder feed to a YouTube live broadcast.
What changes for viewers: a scheduled Premiere or a live stream?
YouTube Premiere: shared playback of a finished upload
A Premiere gives an uploaded video a public watch page before its scheduled start. Viewers can share the page, set reminders, comment, and chat. When playback begins, everyone watches the video together; viewers can rewind, but cannot skip ahead past the point already shown. The countdown is not part of the video itself.

After the event, the video remains on the channel as a regular upload, and chat replay is available. Premieres do not support Shorts or video output above 1080p according to YouTube’s current Premiere guidance.
OBS: a live-produced broadcast
OBS Studio is free, open-source software for video recording and live streaming. It can capture and mix sources such as windows, images, text, browser windows, webcams, and capture cards; switch between scenes with transitions; and apply audio filters to sources. It is useful when the programme needs an actively controlled layout or live newsroom elements, rather than simply playing a finished upload.

OBS does not itself create a Premiere. For a YouTube encoder broadcast, the channel sets up the broadcast in YouTube and connects OBS using the stream destination and stream key.

For a finished Hindi bulletin whose aim is a predictable scheduled gathering, start with Premiere. For a bulletin that needs a live anchor introduction, rolling graphics, multiple feeds, or active control over the output, use OBS to produce a live stream. You can also combine the formats when the channel is eligible for YouTube Live Redirect.

How to schedule a Hindi bulletin as a Premiere
- Prepare the finished video. Confirm that the bulletin is edited and ready to publish. A Premiere presents an uploaded video; it is not the workflow for switching live sources during the programme. Keep the output at 1080p or lower, and do not use a Short for this format.
- Upload in YouTube Studio. Enter the video’s title, description, thumbnail, audience and other publishing details as prompted.
- Choose the Premiere schedule. In the video’s visibility and scheduling flow, either publish it as an instant Premiere or set a date and time and mark it as a Premiere. Check the displayed time zone before sharing the schedule.
- Share the watch page. YouTube creates a public watch page ahead of the start. Share that page with viewers so they can set reminders and find the event.
- Plan the chat. If interaction is part of the programme, arrange moderation and participate during the event. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead to give viewers more time to see the thumbnail in subscriptions, promoting the watch-page URL, enabling chat replay, and taking part in chat. These are platform suggestions, not a guarantee of reach.
- After playback, check the upload. The Premiere remains on the channel as a regular video, with chat replay available.
How to use OBS for a YouTube news replay broadcast
Before the scheduled broadcast
- Decide what OBS must produce. Add only the sources the programme needs—for example, the recorded bulletin, a presenter or live source, graphics, and audio. Arrange them into scenes so the operator can switch deliberately rather than improvise during transmission.
- Set up the YouTube encoder broadcast. Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube’s live workflow and use its stream destination and key in OBS. Treat the key as a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to that broadcast. Do not publish it or include it in screenshots or shared production notes.
- Configure OBS for the source and connection you actually have. OBS has separate streaming and recording settings. Choose settings compatible with the source, computer, and internet connection, and consult the current YouTube and OBS guidance for the exact values applicable to the channel. The available guidance here does not establish one bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe interval that is right for every Hindi news replay setup.
- Test the complete path. Start the encoder before the scheduled event, check the Live Control Room preview, verify access from the channel and watch pages and on mobile, and confirm any local archive if you are making one.
- Monitor the broadcast continuously. Check picture and sound while it is live, including transitions between scenes and any recorded-video playback. A local recording can provide a separate copy if configured, but it is not the same as YouTube’s post-stream replay.
Keep three kinds of replay separate
- Premiere chat replay is the viewer-facing chat history associated with a Premiere.
- YouTube live archive or replay concerns what remains available after an encoder broadcast; YouTube says a channel may post highlights or a replay, and behavior should be checked for the specific stream and account.
- OBS Replay Buffer is an OBS production feature for retaining recent local footage. It is not a YouTube archive and does not create a Premiere.
Can a channel use both?
Yes. YouTube Live Redirect can pass an audience from a live stream to a Premiere. YouTube’s current help guidance lists eligibility for the creator sending the redirect as more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. A Hindi news channel could use a short live introduction or handoff before the scheduled replay, then direct viewers to the Premiere. Check the channel’s eligibility and test the setup in Studio before building the schedule around it; the eligibility rule may change.

Before uploading or streaming, confirm that the channel has the rights to use every included clip, image, music track, and other third-party material, and that the bulletin follows the channel’s editorial and legal review process. A live format does not remove rights obligations. The sources described here do not establish a special Hindi-language rule or settle how YouTube will assess a particular bulletin, so check the current platform policies and the channel’s circumstances rather than assuming that a replay is automatically cleared.
