If YouTube says your phone number has been used too many times for verification, use a different real number whose owner agrees to receive the code. YouTube says a phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year; its published guidance does not describe a way to reset that limit. A missing or delayed code is a separate problem, with different fixes.
First, identify which verification problem you have
Google Account Help uses the error wording “This phone number has been used too many times for verification.” If that is the message you see, the number has reached the reuse limit. It does not, by itself, mean that your YouTube channel is banned or that you have violated a policy. YouTube’s guidance says a phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year. Google Account Help and YouTube Help recommend using another number when the limit is reached.

If the message instead says YouTube could not send a code, or a text has not arrived, treat it as a delivery issue rather than assuming the number has hit the limit.
What to do when the number has reached its limit
- Use a different number. Google says you may use a family member’s or friend’s number. Ask the owner first and make sure they can receive the verification code.
- Enter the number and choose an available verification method. Follow the on-screen prompts to receive the code by text or voice call, then enter it in YouTube’s verification flow.
- Check who is performing the verification. If the channel is associated with a Brand Account or has multiple owners, confirm that the person doing the verification has the required channel-owner authority. YouTube’s channel verification guidance explains the relevant account roles.
The official pages do not document a guaranteed reset period, appeal route, or procedure for removing the limit. Removing a number from an old account, buying a SIM, switching phones, or waiting a particular number of hours is not a documented fix. If you believe the limit was applied incorrectly, the public guidance does not specify a way to clear it; avoid relying on unofficial cooldown claims.

If the code is not arriving
- Wait a few minutes if you requested a text; delivery can be delayed.
- Try the voice-call option if it is offered for your number.
- Try a number on a different carrier. YouTube notes that some carriers do not support Google texts or calls.
If YouTube explicitly says the number has been used too many times, these delivery steps will not address the reuse limit: use a different number instead.
After verification: check the live-stream requirements
Verifying a phone number is necessary for live streaming, but it is not the only eligibility condition. YouTube’s general live-stream guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its general guidance includes mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming; do not apply mobile-specific subscriber requirements to every method. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.

Going live from a phone
YouTube’s mobile live-streaming guidance lists a minimum of 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and activation that can take up to 24 hours for a first live stream. The page lists Android 8.0+ or iOS 8+ as device requirements. Requirements can change, so check YouTube’s current mobile live-streaming guidance before troubleshooting a device or channel.

YouTube also describes webcam and encoder methods. The 50-subscriber minimum is stated for mobile live streaming, so it should not be treated as a universal requirement for every streaming method. Check the general live-stream requirements and the instructions for the method you plan to use.

Does “used too many times” mean my YouTube channel is banned?
No. The message indicates that the phone number has reached its verification reuse limit; it does not by itself establish a channel ban or policy violation.
