The timing may be a clue, but it does not establish the cause. Check the channel’s verification and live-streaming eligibility in YouTube Studio first, then investigate restrictions and any requirements specific to the method you’re using.
Check these items in YouTube Studio first
- Open YouTube Studio and check Feature eligibility. Confirm that the channel is verified and that live streaming is available for it. YouTube says channel verification is required for live streaming (YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming).
- Confirm live streaming is enabled. If you have just enabled it, YouTube says your first mobile live stream may take up to 24 hours to become available (YouTube Help: Create a live stream on mobile).
- Check for live-streaming restrictions. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance requires no live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days. Its restrictions guidance explains that live-streaming access may be turned off temporarily or permanently (Avoid restrictions on YouTube live streaming).
- If you’re using the YouTube mobile app, check its additional requirements. YouTube lists a minimum of 50 subscribers, channel verification, live streaming enabled, and no live-streaming restrictions within the last 90 days. A supported mobile operating system is also required. The 50-subscriber requirement is specific to mobile live streaming; don’t assume it applies identically to every streaming method.
- Allow for the activation period. For a first mobile live stream after enabling the feature, YouTube advises that activation may take up to 24 hours. If you’ve reached the daily limit for creating streams, YouTube says to wait 24 hours before trying again.
These are YouTube eligibility and setup rules, not estimates of how often phone-number changes cause problems. YouTube’s official guidance does not document a number-change-specific cooldown.

Does changing your number disable YouTube Live?
The official guidance reviewed links live-streaming access to channel verification, feature eligibility, method-specific requirements, and restrictions. It does not say that changing a phone number, by itself, automatically disables live streaming, and it does not say that re-verifying a replacement number will necessarily restore access. Check the status shown for your channel rather than treating the timing of the change as proof of cause.

This distinction matters even if the channel was already verified: verification is one eligibility requirement, but a separate restriction or a mobile-specific requirement can still prevent a stream from starting.

Test whether the issue is mobile-specific
YouTube documents mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming methods (Get started with live streaming). If you can, try another method as a diagnostic. If that method works while the YouTube mobile app does not, focus on mobile eligibility and device support. If the channel cannot stream by any method, check channel-level eligibility and restrictions. Switching methods does not remove a channel-level restriction or replace required verification.
YouTube Help’s mobile page includes India in its country list for live-streaming Playables. That listing concerns the documented Playables experience; it is not evidence that every live-streaming feature has identical regional availability.

What to record if the checks don’t resolve it
- The exact error message, copied as shown.
- The date and time you tried to go live.
- The device and app used, including the streaming method.
- The channel’s verification and Feature eligibility status in Studio.
- Whether the problem occurs with another documented streaming method.
Contact YouTube through its support channels with those details. Avoid buying a new phone, SIM, microphone, tripod, or encoder just to restore access: the eligibility guidance does not recommend equipment as a fix for verification or channel restrictions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your channel is eligible and you want to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. YouTube eligibility still applies; this does not bypass a channel restriction or make an ineligible channel able to stream.
