Confirming your identity for YouTube’s advanced features does not, by itself, guarantee that live streaming is enabled. Check the exact channel’s Feature eligibility page, confirm phone verification, and look for any live-stream restriction from the past 90 days. Those checks address separate requirements.
Why identity confirmation may not enable live streaming
YouTube treats phone verification, advanced-feature access, and live-stream eligibility as related but distinct checks. Phone verification unlocks intermediate features, and YouTube lists live streaming on a computer as an intermediate feature. Advanced access may require sufficient channel history or an ID or video identity check if YouTube offers that option to your account. Some features can have separate requirements. YouTube’s account-verification guidance and its feature-access guidance explain these access levels.

YouTube also says a channel must be verified and have no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days to stream. So an identity check for advanced features does not clear a separate live-stream restriction or replace the phone-verification step. YouTube’s live-streaming tips state the restriction and verification requirements.

Open Feature eligibility for the channel you intend to use
On a computer, open YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. YouTube says the page shows “Enabled” next to features available to that channel and displays the steps needed to access other features. Make sure you are checking the channel that will actually host the stream, not merely the Google account you used for the identity check. See YouTube’s instructions on feature access.

Confirm phone verification
Phone verification is the gateway to intermediate features. If it is not complete for the channel, follow YouTube’s verification flow and request a code by text or voice call. If no code arrives, YouTube notes that some carriers do not support Google’s messages or calls; use another offered method or carrier if available. YouTube’s verification instructions explain the process.

Identify which live-stream method is failing
YouTube supports streaming from a mobile device, webcam, or encoder. Its feature table specifically lists live streaming on a computer as an intermediate feature, and it cautions that some features have separate eligibility conditions. Check the relevant method and the exact message shown rather than assuming that access for one method proves access for every method. YouTube lists its live-stream methods.

Look for a live-stream restriction or policy notice
In YouTube Studio, review the channel for a live-stream limitation or policy notice. YouTube’s stated rule is no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. If Studio shows a notice, use its wording to identify the applicable restriction and any next steps; completing identity verification is not a substitute for resolving it. Read YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance.

Check that you are the primary channel owner
If this is a Brand Account or shared channel, confirm that you are signed in as the channel’s primary owner when performing identity verification. YouTube says only the primary owner can verify identity for additional features. Its guidance says the message “Advanced YouTube features aren’t available for this account” can indicate that the signed-in account is not the primary owner; supervised-account and Brand Account situations are among the examples. YouTube explains account ownership and advanced-feature access here.

Use an advanced-access route actually offered to your channel
YouTube describes two routes to advanced features after phone verification: build sufficient channel history, or complete an ID or video check if offered. The ID and video options are not available to every creator. If those options do not appear, that alone does not prove something is broken; channel history is the other route YouTube describes. YouTube also says Community Guidelines compliance and positive channel history affect eligibility and continued access. Check YouTube’s advanced-feature access guidance and feature eligibility information.
Common symptoms and what they point to
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| Advanced features show as enabled, but live streaming is unavailable | Check phone verification, the relevant live-stream method, and any restriction or policy notice. Advanced access is not the same check as every feature’s specific eligibility. |
| The feature page does not show the expected status | Confirm you selected the intended channel in Studio, then follow the access steps shown on its Feature eligibility page. |
| The identity option is missing | YouTube does not offer ID and video verification to every creator. Use the channel-history route if that is the available path. |
| Identity verification reports that advanced features are unavailable for the account | Check whether you are the primary owner, particularly for a Brand Account or shared channel. Supervised-account situations can also affect access. |
| Studio shows a live-stream restriction or policy message | Use the notice’s exact wording to understand the issue. Identity confirmation does not remove a separate live-stream restriction. |
What you can and cannot infer from the result
The available official guidance establishes the checks above, but it cannot tell you which one applies without your channel’s Feature eligibility status, streaming method, exact error, ownership arrangement, and any Studio policy notice. YouTube’s cited guidance does not give a universal resolution time for this exact situation, so there is no reliable fixed wait period to promise.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo does not enable a channel that YouTube has not cleared to stream, and it is not a camera-streaming service. Once YouTube live streaming is available on your channel, StreamNeo can keep an uploaded video or playlist streaming to YouTube from the cloud: upload your video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with no quality tiers; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
