If YouTube Live Control Room says “Your encoder is sending no audio,” it is receiving an encoder feed without an audio stream. The Punjabi playlist’s language is not identified as a cause. First confirm the playlist is audible, then check that its sound is selected, unmuted, and enabled in your encoder. Verify the outgoing audio track and settings, and listen to the Live Control Room preview before going live.
What the warning means—and what to check first
The warning describes the stream reaching YouTube, not necessarily whether you can hear the playlist on your computer. YouTube says to enable audio in the encoder if it has an audio checkbox, and to send one audio stream; multiple audio streams can cause ingestion problems. YouTube’s live-stream error guidance does not identify Punjabi audio or language as the cause.

Trace the sound through four points: playlist playback, encoder output, any local recording or archive, and the Live Control Room preview. The first point where sound disappears narrows down where to investigate. The comparisons help localize the fault; they do not, by themselves, prove its cause.

- Check the playlist at its source. Play it locally and confirm that the intended output device is audible. If it is silent before encoding, check that the playlist is playing, the correct output device is selected, and the player is not muted.
- Check the encoder’s audio source and routing. Select the source carrying the playlist audio, make sure it is not muted, and confirm that it is routed into the stream. If the encoder has an audio-enable checkbox, turn it on. YouTube specifically calls out this setting for encoders that provide it. See the no-audio error guidance.
- Listen to the encoder output. Use the encoder’s own monitoring or output check, if available. Also check for encoder errors and unusually high CPU load. YouTube recommends checking the sources routed to the encoder and any local archive when troubleshooting. See YouTube’s encoder troubleshooting guidance.
- Inspect the local archive, if you record one. If both the encoder output and archive are silent, investigate the source, routing, or encoding stage. If they contain sound but YouTube’s preview does not, compare the encoder’s outgoing configuration and YouTube’s ingestion status.
- Check the outgoing audio track and format. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio and calls for one audio stream. Its recommended settings are 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps for stereo, or 48 kHz and 384 Kbps for 5.1 surround; 5.1 is supported only with AAC. Match your encoder to the format you intend to send. Check YouTube’s encoder settings guidance for the applicable stream type and current requirements.
- Wait for and listen to the Live Control Room preview. In YouTube’s encoder workflow, connect the encoder and wait for the preview before starting the live event. Confirm that the preview has sound after making changes; continue monitoring audio and video while live. See the encoder setup steps and YouTube’s streaming tips.
- If the encoder sounds healthy but YouTube does not, check the connection and encoder. YouTube recommends investigating the outbound internet connection when the stream looks and sounds healthy in the encoder. Update the encoder; if source and encoder checks do not reveal the problem, trying another encoder can help isolate whether the issue is specific to the software or its configuration. This is a diagnostic option, not evidence that paid software is required. Troubleshoot the live stream.
Prepare and monitor a playlist stream
Before the event, test with audio and movement similar to what you plan to stream. Check stream health and messages, wait for the preview, and listen for sound there before going live. During the stream, keep monitoring both audio and video. YouTube also recommends upload bandwidth headroom; its guidance gives 20% as the recommended margin. Read YouTube’s streaming tips.

Keep copyright checks separate from audio troubleshooting
A missing audio stream and a copyright interruption are different problems. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may replace a stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it if matched content remains. If the stream was interrupted, check YouTube Studio for a copyright notice rather than assuming that copyright caused the no-audio warning. If you have permission to use the music, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
