If YouTube Live reports a low audio bitrate, set the encoder’s stereo audio bitrate to 128 Kbps, use AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz, and make sure it sends exactly one audio stream. Test before the public broadcast and check the stream-health messages. These settings apply to a Telugu devotional stream just as they do to other programming; the warning by itself does not prove that your microphone, mixer, interface, or cable is faulty.
What YouTube’s low-audio-bitrate warning means
YouTube Live Control Room reports ingestion errors alongside the stream-health indicator. Its guidance identifies audio bitrate below the recommended value as an error and recommends 128 Kbps. It also flags an incorrect sample rate, an unsupported audio codec, a missing audio stream, or multiple audio streams as possible audio-setting problems. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages.

The warning concerns the audio being sent to YouTube, not the language or devotional content of the program. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specify a different bitrate for Telugu streams. The target depends on the audio configuration, such as stereo, and the supported encoder settings.
Change the audio settings in your encoder
Menu names vary by software or hardware encoder, so look for its audio or stream-output settings rather than relying on a menu path for an unidentified encoder.

- Set stereo audio to 128 Kbps. YouTube lists 128 Kbps for stereo and recommends that bitrate in its low-audio-bitrate error guidance.
- Select AAC or MP3. YouTube lists these as supported audio codecs for RTMP/RTMPS live streaming.
- Set the stereo sample rate to 44.1 kHz. YouTube’s encoder settings list this rate for stereo.
- Confirm audio is enabled and only one audio stream is being sent. The incoming stream needs audio; multiple audio streams can cause ingestion problems.
- Test before going public. Send representative program audio, check that the encoder’s audio meters respond, inspect the Live Control Room preview, and review any stream-health messages. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health during the event. See Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
If the sound is still poor after changing the bitrate
A bitrate warning and poor-sounding audio are related possibilities, but changing the bitrate will not fix every upstream or encoding problem. YouTube says sound quality can be affected by the audio or video sources routed into the encoder.
- Check the selected input. Confirm the intended mixer, interface, playback device, or microphone is routed into the encoder, and that its meters move during the test.
- Inspect the encoder and system. Look for encoder errors and high CPU load. If you have a local archive recording, listen to it; it can help distinguish a source or routing problem from an issue that occurs only in the outgoing stream.
- Try another encoder if the local output remains faulty. YouTube includes this as a troubleshooting option. Its live-stream troubleshooting guidance also advises checking source quality.
- Check the connection if local output sounds healthy but viewers have trouble. Run a speed test and contact your internet service provider if the connection is problematic, as YouTube recommends.
Keep total stream bitrate within your upload capacity
Audio is only one part of the total stream bitrate. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom for the total stream bitrate. If delivery is unstable, check the encoder’s actual output and available upload capacity; increasing the audio bitrate beyond YouTube’s documented recommendation is not the fix for a network problem. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
