YouTube Live Frame Rate for a 24fps Indian Film Songs Playlist

If the videos in your playlist are actually 24 frames per second (fps), set your encoder’s outgoing frame rate to 24 fps when practical. YouTube supports live encoder frame rates up to 60 fps, and its guidance favors preserving the source rate for film content. The playlist itself does not have a separate YouTube frame-rate setting: the encoder sends the live signal. Check the files rather than assuming every Indian film song is 24 fps.

Why 24 fps is usually the right choice for 24 fps footage

Frame rate describes how many individual image frames are sent each second. When the source footage is 24 fps, sending it at 24 fps avoids asking the encoder to convert it to a different rate. YouTube’s upload guidance says, “Content should be encoded and uploaded in the same frame rate it was recorded.” Its formatting guidance also says, “For film sources, a 24 fps or 25 fps progressive master yields the best results.”

Those are general source-format recommendations, not a claim that every Indian film song or every online copy uses 24 fps. A file may be 25, 30, or another rate, or may have been converted previously. Inspect representative files or check the encoder’s media information before choosing a rate.

Where to set the live frame rate

Choose the outgoing frame rate in the encoder you use to send the stream. YouTube’s Live Control Room detects the encoder’s settings and transcodes the incoming live stream into viewer formats; YouTube recommends automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default. The official guidance does not specify a special frame-rate menu for playlists.

ZowieBox, 4K HDMI NDI Video Encoder/Decoder, HDMI NDI | Native NDI HX3, UVC to HDMI, Pass-Through Video Capture, SRT/RTMP(S)/RTSP, Live Streaming
  • Compact but Powerful Design: ZowieBox is smaller than a phone, featuring a tally light and LCD screen for streaming status. Capture console gameplay in up to 4K with zero-lag HDMI passthrough, while the built-in video encoder converts video for IP streaming. The IP stream can also be decoded back to a 4K HDMI signal.
  • Standalone Game Streaming: Just plug and play—ZowieBox enables PC-free live gaming without affecting gameplay. As an RTMP hardware encoder and HDMI streamer, it delivers stable streaming directly from your source, making it ideal for gaming, live events, and professional broadcasting.
  • NDI|HX3 Converter Technology: ZowieBox converts HDMI signals to NDI|HX3/HX2/HX, functioning as an NDI video encoder, or NDI Video Decoder for flexible IP workflows. Certified NDI technology enables low-latency gameplay streaming through OBS/vMix. Note: Encoder and decoder modes cannot run simultaneously; full NDI signals are not supported.
  • UVC to HDMI Conversion: Supporting up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@60fps decoding, ZowieBox enables flexible conversion for webcam and video workflows. As a video decoder and HDMI to IP converter, it expands connectivity options for professional video devices. Note: USB capture card functionality is not currently supported.
  • All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
  1. Enable live streaming and prepare the event. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup workflow. If live streaming has not been enabled on the channel, YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
  2. Set the encoder’s video frame rate. If the files are 24 fps and the encoder supports it, choose 24 fps. Set resolution and bitrate to values supported by the encoder and appropriate for the stream; YouTube’s bitrate recommendations vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec.
  3. Use a supported live configuration. YouTube’s live guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265, or AV1, frame rates up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Consult the current YouTube encoder settings and bitrate table for the bitrate matching your resolution, frame rate, and codec.
  4. Connect and preview. Enter the stream key in the encoder’s stream settings, start the encoder, then check the preview in Live Control Room before making the broadcast public. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your event.
  5. Test and monitor. Test with representative playlist files, watch the preview, and monitor stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube recommends testing before the event and checking stream health. An unlisted test is one way to check the setup without making the test publicly discoverable.

Should you choose 24 fps or 30 fps?

Encoder choice When it makes sense What to verify
24 fps The source files are genuinely 24 fps and the encoder can send that rate reliably. Check motion, audio/video sync, and stream health in a test.
30 fps Your source or established encoder workflow is 30 fps, or you have a specific production reason to send 30 fps. A 24 fps source must be converted to the outgoing rate; results depend on the software and conversion method.
Automatic detection You want YouTube’s default recommendation for detecting resolution and frame rate. Confirm the actual incoming settings in Live Control Room; automatic detection does not establish that every file in a mixed playlist has the same rate.

YouTube’s official pages reviewed do not compare a 24 fps playlist sent at 24 fps against the same playlist sent at 30 fps. For film material that is actually 24 fps, matching the source is the more directly supported choice; test the real workflow rather than assuming one setting will suit every playlist.

What to do with mixed-frame-rate playlists

A continuous live encoder sends an outgoing stream at its selected rate. If playlist files differ, the playback software may convert frame rates or repeat or drop frames, but the outcome depends on that software. YouTube’s published guidance does not prescribe a playlist-wide conversion policy or say that each source file’s individual rate is preserved in one continuous live output.

  • Check the frame-rate information for more than one file, especially if the playlist combines uploads from different sources.
  • Use a representative test sequence that includes the files with different rates.
  • Watch for uneven motion, sync drift, audio breaks, or stream-health warnings. If these appear, review the encoder or playback software’s conversion settings and test again.

Frame rate is separate from latency

Frame rate is the number of frames sent each second; latency is the delay between capture at the encoder or camera and presentation to viewers. YouTube notes that lower latency can mean more playback buffering. Changing the frame rate to 24 fps does not, by itself, select a latency mode. Review YouTube’s live stream settings guidance if delay and viewer interaction matter to your broadcast.

Common problems and fixes

  • The encoder will not offer 24 fps: Check whether the encoder, source, or selected output mode supports that rate. Use a supported setting and test the resulting stream rather than assuming YouTube has a playlist-specific control.
  • Motion looks uneven: Confirm the source rate and outgoing rate. A mismatch can require frame conversion; test the playback and encoding software’s available settings.
  • The stream buffers or shows health warnings: Check upload capacity and choose a bitrate suited to the chosen resolution, rate, and codec. YouTube recommends running an upload-speed test and monitoring stream health.
  • The preview does not appear: Confirm the encoder is sending to the correct event with the intended stream key and that the stream has started. Recheck the event preview in Live Control Room.
  • You cannot start a first live stream: If live streaming was only just enabled, activation may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Copyright and playlist eligibility

A correct frame-rate setting does not grant permission to broadcast the songs or film footage. Make sure you have the rights needed to livestream every track and accompanying video, and check YouTube’s applicable copyright rules before going live. This setting guidance does not determine whether a particular playlist is eligible for monetization or whether its content complies with YouTube policies.
