YouTube does not document one universal setting for playlist-transition gaps; the cause depends on your player and encoder setup.
Locate where the audio disappears
Compare the same transition at each point in the signal path. If possible, record the encoder’s local program output so you can compare it with the YouTube preview or resulting recording.

- Playlist player: Listen through the moment one video ends and the next begins. If the player itself goes silent, the problem is upstream of the encoder.
- Encoder output or local recording: If the player remains audible but the encoder output goes quiet, check whether the player remains in the outgoing program mix during the transition.
- YouTube Live Control Room preview or recording: If local output is audible but YouTube is not, focus on the encoder’s audio configuration, any displayed ingestion errors, and the connection to YouTube.
This comparison narrows down the stage where audio is lost; it does not, by itself, identify a particular playlist-app setting.
Test and troubleshoot the playlist stream

Reproduce the issue in a test stream
Use a test stream with several playlist transitions, and watch the Live Control Room preview while listening. YouTube recommends testing before a stream and monitoring audio and video quality. Avoid relying on a single transition if the silence occurs inconsistently.

Compare the player with the encoder output
Listen to the playlist player and the encoder’s local program output or recording at the same transition. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking sound in the encoder and looking for audio or video problems in the local archive. If the player is audible but the program output is not, verify that the player is included in the outgoing mix and that the mix continues to feed the encoder as files change.

Read the Live Control Room status and errors
Check for audio or ingestion warnings in Live Control Room. YouTube documents errors involving no audio stream, multiple audio streams, unsupported audio codecs, and incorrect audio settings. Resolve the specific error using settings appropriate to your stream protocol; do not change settings blindly when the dashboard reports no issue.

Check encoder health and the outbound connection
If the local program output sounds clean but YouTube’s preview drops audio, inspect encoder errors and CPU load. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance also recommends checking the outbound internet connection when the encoder output appears healthy.

Verify the fix before going public
Repeat the test across playlist transitions. Confirm that audio remains present in both the local output or recording and YouTube’s preview or recording. Keep a local recording so you can distinguish a source or encoder problem from a problem that appears only in the live stream.
