YouTube Live 4K 60fps Bitrate Settings for Indian Internet

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a 4K/2160p, 60 fps YouTube Live stream encoded in H.264, YouTube’s English-language settings table recommends a video bitrate of 35 Mbps. That is the encoder’s target—not the upload speed every Indian connection can reliably deliver. Test sustained upload on the connection and route you will use, leave headroom for variation and other network traffic, and lower resolution or frame rate if the target is not stable.

Recommended YouTube Live settings for 4K at 60 fps

The values below follow YouTube’s English-language encoder-settings table and guidance, as surfaced in 2026. Confirm the current table for your account and locale before a broadcast because localized displays may differ.

Setting Recommended starting point
Resolution and frame rate 3840 × 2160 (2160p), 60 fps
Video bitrate, H.264 35 Mbps
Video bitrate, AV1 or H.265 10–40 Mbps; the appropriate point in that range depends on the encoder and content
Bitrate mode CBR (constant bitrate)
Ingest protocol RTMPS, YouTube’s recommended secure extension of RTMP
Keyframe interval 2 seconds recommended; do not exceed 4 seconds
Audio Stereo AAC or MP3, 128 Kbps, 44.1 kHz
SDR color Rec. 709

These settings describe the outgoing encoder stream, not the connection speed needed for every household. The 35 Mbps figure applies to H.264 video; audio and network overhead are additional. For HDR, YouTube recommends H.265 over RTMP(S) when the encoder supports it, and its guidance says AV1 is not supported for HDR. See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions.

How much upload speed does 4K60 need in India?

Use a real upload test, not the plan’s download headline

The relevant measure is sustained upload from the streaming device to YouTube. A plan’s advertised download speed does not establish that it can sustain a 4K60 live stream. YouTube says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” Run that test on the same ISP and connection you intend to stream from, ideally at the place and time you expect to go live. A brief peak result is not proof of stable performance.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

There is no single upload figure for Indian internet users

Available evidence does not establish one authoritative upload-speed figure that describes Indian connections generally. Results vary with ISP, plan, city, wired or wireless access, congestion, and simultaneous household use. Compare your measured sustained upload with the chosen encoder target, and preserve room for ordinary variation and other network traffic rather than setting the encoder at the full measured ceiling.

Choose a codec and output your setup can sustain

H.264: the clearest starting target

For H.264 at 2160p60, use 35 Mbps as the YouTube English-language table’s recommended video bitrate. This is a useful encoder starting point only if your actual upload can sustain it with headroom.

AV1 or H.265: check both ends of the stream

YouTube’s English-language table gives AV1 and H.265 a 10–40 Mbps range for 2160p60. Do not assume every encoder supports these codecs or that they deliver the same quality at a given bitrate. Confirm that your encoder configuration and YouTube ingest support the selected codec. HDR has separate guidance: YouTube recommends H.265 over RTMP(S) where supported and says AV1 is not supported for HDR.

If upload is not steady, reduce the output

If your connection cannot reliably sustain the target, select a lower resolution or frame rate and test again. Choose the fallback bitrate from YouTube’s current table for that exact resolution, frame rate, and codec; do not carry the 4K60 figure over to a different output.

Set up and verify the stream

  1. Confirm your output. Set the encoder to 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps only if the source, encoder, and upload connection can support it.
  2. Set video encoding. Choose a codec supported by your encoder and YouTube ingest. For H.264, start at 35 Mbps; for AV1 or H.265, use YouTube’s 10–40 Mbps table range as a codec- and content-dependent range.
  3. Set transport and rate control. Use RTMPS and CBR as recommended by YouTube.
  4. Set keyframes and audio. Use a 2-second keyframe interval (never over 4 seconds), stereo AAC or MP3 at 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz.
  5. Set color correctly. Use Rec. 709 for SDR. For HDR, check the encoder and YouTube’s current codec guidance before starting.
  6. Test the actual connection. Run an upload speed test from the broadcast location and connection. Then test the stream under realistic network use; if it is unstable, lower resolution or frame rate and use the matching current bitrate recommendation.

Why YouTube’s displayed bitrate may vary by locale

The English-language YouTube Help table lists H.264 at 35 Mbps and AV1/H.265 at 10–40 Mbps for 2160p60. A localized result from the same official page displayed a differently structured table, including 50 Mbps for H.264. Because those recommendations conflict, this article uses the explicit English-language codec-and-resolution table rather than combining the values. Check the live settings page shown for your target account and locale before relying on a locale-specific recommendation.
