If the YouTube Kids guest profile disappeared from your TV, streaming device, or game console, set it up again in the YouTube app: open the left-side menu, go to the profile picture or account page, choose Set up YouTube Kids, then Set up guest account and follow the prompts. This creates a guest profile again; YouTube’s instructions do not say that it restores the removed profile’s previous preferences or history.
First, identify which guest option is missing
YouTube Kids guest profiles and ordinary YouTube guest mode are different features. The Kids guest profile lets a child use YouTube Kids while signed out. Ordinary YouTube guest mode lets someone watch regular YouTube on a TV or game console while signed out, without affecting the signed-in account’s recommendations. YouTube lists choices such as “Guest,” “YouTube Kids,” “Add account,” and “Add YouTube Kids profile” separately in its TV app guidance.

If you are looking for the child-focused profile or YouTube Kids tile, use the setup steps below. If you mean ordinary signed-out viewing in YouTube, consult YouTube’s TV and game-console sign-in guidance; the Kids setup flow will not bring back ordinary Guest mode.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSet up a YouTube Kids guest profile again
- Open the YouTube app on the TV, streaming device, or game console.
- Open the left-side menu, then go to the profile picture or account page.
- Select Set up YouTube Kids.
- Select Set up guest account and follow the on-screen instructions.
After setup, the profile option should appear on the account page or the “Who’s watching?” screen. Labels and menu placement can vary by device and app version. YouTube’s instructions describe setting up a profile again, not recovering an old profile’s settings or viewing history. See YouTube’s instructions for watching YouTube Kids on a TV.

If you want to remove a guest profile instead
- In the YouTube app, open the account page.
- Under the guest profile, select the account-management control.
- Choose Remove from this device.
This removes the profile from that device. YouTube documents removal from the device, but does not specify whether the profile’s previous preferences or history can be restored afterward.
If the problem is signing in, not the missing profile
Use these checks only if you are having trouble signing in to the YouTube app. They address sign-in, not the setup or recovery of a YouTube Kids guest profile.
- If you are signing in with a phone, make sure the TV and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network and that the phone is not using mobile data.
- If the app uses an activation code, check that you entered it correctly.
- If phone sign-in fails, try signing in with the TV remote.
- Unplug the TV or streaming device for 30 seconds, then reconnect it. You can also restart the router and the mobile device.
These steps are listed in YouTube’s smart TV and game-console sign-in guide.
