There is no universally cheapest way to keep a YouTube stream running 24/7 in India. A home PC may cost less if you already own it and it would be on anyway, but electricity, connectivity and upkeep still count. A VPS moves the computer offsite but leaves setup and recovery to you. A managed looping service adds a recurring fee in exchange for provider-operated streaming. Compare the full monthly cost and the work you will do—not a free encoder against a cloud bill.
What counts in a fair monthly comparison?
Use the same workload for each option: one YouTube channel, the same video or playlist, target resolution and bitrate, and 24 hours a day for the same billing period. Then compare cash cost, operating responsibility and limits.

Check these details before treating two quotes as equivalent: channel count, output quality and bitrate limits, storage, source handling, billing term, tax treatment, transfer allowance, and what recovery the provider actually describes. Measure the whole computer at the wall while it is doing the intended streaming workload. A plug-in electricity usage meter (watt meter) can provide that reading. Do not use the power supply’s rated wattage as though it were the computer’s actual draw.

Use these formulas:
monthly kWh = average measured watts ÷ 1,000 × hours per day × daysmonthly electricity cost = monthly kWh × applicable marginal ₹/kWh
For a 24/7 stream, put 24 hours per day into the formula. Use the marginal rate that applies to your household bill; electricity tariffs vary by location and consumption. Add network costs only if streaming changes a capped plan or otherwise creates an additional charge. If the PC is already on for another purpose, estimate the extra power attributable to streaming rather than assigning the whole bill to it. If you buy hardware solely for streaming, show that upfront cost separately or state the period over which you spread it.
Illustrative India scenario—not a tariff or measured result for your PC

What does a VPS change—and what does it not?
A VPS replaces the home computer with rented offsite compute. It does not by itself turn the stream into a managed service: you remain responsible for installing and configuring the encoder, keeping the YouTube stream key secure, monitoring the process, and arranging restart and recovery behavior.

Managed services charge a recurring fee and may include provider-run encoding and recovery features. Compare the exact plan limits and current terms; a lower headline price may include fewer channels, less storage, different output limits or a different tax treatment.

Which option fits your situation?
- Use a home PC if you already have suitable hardware, can keep it powered and connected, and are comfortable troubleshooting it. Your cost calculation should reflect incremental electricity and any new hardware, not just the fact that OBS itself is free.
- Consider a VPS if you want the encoder offsite and are willing to administer a server. Price the complete configuration and account for your time spent maintaining and recovering it.
