YouTube 24/7 Stream Keeps Disconnecting on ACT Fibernet: Check Your Router and Connection

If a YouTube 24/7 stream keeps disconnecting on ACT Fibernet, first find out whether the problem follows one device, Wi-Fi, YouTube, or the ACT connection. Test the same stream on another device, compare Wi-Fi with Ethernet if possible, reduce other network use, and note when interruptions happen. A fast advertised plan does not by itself rule out a weak Wi-Fi signal, congestion, or an ISP-side problem—and these checks cannot confirm packet loss without suitable measurements.

First identify what is disconnecting

This guide addresses a viewer watching a live YouTube stream, not a creator sending a broadcast to YouTube. Playback uses your connection to receive video; broadcaster upload-speed figures do not tell you what download speed your viewing device needs.

When the interruption happens, note the channel, approximate time, device, whether it is on Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and what you see: buffering, playback stopping, or a device message that internet access was lost. If you know which Wi-Fi band the device uses, record that too. Repeating the same checks at different times can reveal whether the issue is intermittent or tied to a particular setup.

Use comparisons to narrow down the cause

Make one change at a time and try to reproduce the interruption. These comparisons help identify where to investigate; none, by itself, proves packet loss or establishes that ACT has a fault.

  • Connect more devices than ever before - Wi-Fi 6 technology simultaneously communicates more data to more devices using OFDMA and MU-MIMO while reducing lag dramatically
  • Powerful Dual-Core 900MHz Processor – Handles multiple data streams simultaneously for reliable performance across your devices. Ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and video conferencing without buffering or lag.
Comparison What the result may suggest
Same stream on another device, on the same ACT connection If only one device has trouble, focus first on that device, its app or browser, and its connection to the router. If both fail, keep checking the network and stream.
Another YouTube video or another service on the same device If only one live stream is affected, the issue may be specific to that stream or its playback path. If several services fail too, a wider device or connection issue becomes more plausible.
Wi-Fi versus Ethernet If wired playback works while Wi-Fi does not, investigate Wi-Fi signal, placement, interference, or equipment. That result does not prove or repair an ACT-side fault.
Normal network use versus reduced competing traffic If playback improves when large downloads or other active network use are paused, congestion in the home network may be contributing.
Different times of day Record whether failures recur at particular times. A pattern is useful to report, but does not alone establish its cause.

Check Wi-Fi, router placement, and competing traffic

  1. Move closer to the router. Test with fewer walls and obstructions between the viewing device and router. Nearby sources of interference or poor placement can weaken Wi-Fi.
  2. Reduce network load temporarily. Pause large downloads and, if practical, limit other active network use while you test the stream. This is a comparison, not a permanent requirement.
  3. Try Ethernet if the device supports it. Connect the viewing device to the router with a suitable cable, then replay the same stream. ACT identifies Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet as wired options and describes wired connections as consistent. Choose a cable that reaches safely and works with your device; a cable is useful here as an isolation test, not a guaranteed fix.
  4. Restart the router and viewing device. After they reconnect, retry playback and note whether the result changes.
  5. Update the playback software. Check for updates to the YouTube app or browser and the device software, then test again.

Check playback quality and the speed recommendation

Temporarily select a lower playback quality in YouTube and see whether interruptions become less frequent. YouTube Help says, “A minimum 7 Mbps connection speed is recommended for HD streaming” on TV. This is a general HD playback recommendation, not a guarantee of uninterrupted viewing, a packet-loss threshold, or proof that any particular ACT plan will solve a disconnection.

ACT also publishes figures for uploading a live broadcast, including 2.2 Mbps at 720p/60 fps, 3 Mbps at 1080p/60 fps, 9 Mbps at 1440p/60 fps, 13 Mbps at 4K/30 fps, and 20 Mbps at 4K/60 fps. Those figures apply to sending a stream, not to watching one; they should not be used as viewer download requirements.

When to contact ACT Fibernet

Contact ACT if the problem continues across multiple devices or affects other services as well, especially after comparing Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Share concrete observations rather than diagnosing packet loss from buffering alone.

  • Approximate dates and times of interruptions.
  • Which devices you tested and whether they were on Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
  • Whether the same YouTube stream, other YouTube videos, and other services were affected.
  • Whether pausing downloads or moving nearer the router changed playback.
  • Whether the device lost all internet access or only YouTube playback stopped.

The available provider and YouTube guidance cannot verify an outage at your address, inspect your router, or establish that your connection is losing packets. Ask ACT to check the connection for your account and location; do not treat a high plan speed or a single failed playback test as a packet-loss diagnosis.

Or let it run in the cloud

This is a separate option for channel owners who want uploaded videos to play continuously on their own YouTube channel; it will not fix a viewer’s ACT connection or make another channel’s stream play reliably. StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
