If your YouTube 24/7 stream buffers on BSNL broadband, first check the stream-health message in YouTube Live Control Room while the problem is happening. Then verify the encoder’s actual bitrate and resolution, measure upload performance repeatedly, and compare Wi-Fi with wired Ethernet. These checks can help separate an encoder or local-network problem from an issue that may need BSNL’s attention; buffering alone does not prove packet loss, jitter, or a BSNL-wide fault.
Start with YouTube’s live stream health
Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room for the active stream. Watch the stream-health indicator while buffering occurs, and note the exact message and time. YouTube’s dashboard checks the incoming stream and displays detected errors beside the health indicator. An error that appears at the same time as the interruption is more useful than a report checked later.

Also compare what you see locally with what viewers receive. If the encoder’s local preview or a local recording is already choppy, inspect the source, encoder settings, and computer load first. If local output is clean but the incoming stream becomes unhealthy, focus on the outbound network path and sustained upload capacity. This comparison narrows the investigation; it does not by itself identify a particular network component.
Check the encoder settings and upload headroom
Record the configured resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate in the streaming software. Check the bitrate actually configured for the stream—not just the broadband plan’s advertised download speed. YouTube says the total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and advises: “Leave a bit of room (20% recommended).” Other devices and services sharing the connection can reduce the bandwidth available to the stream.

YouTube’s current live-ingestion guidance recommends these H.264 settings:

These are YouTube recommendations for live ingestion, not guarantees that a connection can sustain the stream. YouTube recommends keyframes every 2 seconds and says they should not exceed 4 seconds. Confirm the keyframe interval in the encoder as well as resolution and bitrate.

If your available upload does not reliably accommodate the total stream bitrate plus headroom, lower the bitrate or resolution and test again. For example, moving from 1080p to 720p may reduce the upload demand, but choose the setting that your connection can sustain rather than assuming a particular resolution will work. Measure upload performance when the stream degrades
Run an upload-focused network test during or near the times the stream buffers. Repeat it at different times when the problem is present and absent, and save each result with its timestamp. A single short test that shows a high peak does not establish that upload capacity stays steady through a continuous 24/7 stream.

- Keep the stream’s configured bitrate alongside each test result.
- Note other activity on the connection, such as uploads, backups, or other people streaming video.
- Compare results from problem periods with results from stable periods.
- Do not infer a packet-loss percentage or a jitter threshold from a speed test unless the test actually reports those measurements.
YouTube’s streaming tips cover bandwidth and stream stability. The available YouTube guidance does not define a packet-loss test or a jitter threshold that would let a viewer diagnose a BSNL connection from buffering alone.
Compare Wi-Fi with a wired connection
If practical, connect the streaming computer to the router or ONT with Ethernet and repeat the same stream test at comparable times and settings. A cable, including Cat6 if that is what you have available, is useful here as a diagnostic comparison—not a guaranteed fix for packet loss or jitter.

Reduce stream demand and repeat a representative test
Once you have recorded the original settings and results, make one change at a time—usually lowering bitrate or resolution—and test through a period long enough to include the conditions that normally cause trouble. Changing one setting at a time makes it easier to see whether the stream becomes more stable. Do not rely on a brief successful preview as proof that a 24/7 stream will remain stable.

If lowering demand resolves the interruptions, the previous settings may have exceeded the connection’s sustained upload capacity or available headroom. If the stream still fails, retain the timestamps and continue with the wired comparison and provider escalation rather than assuming the encoder setting was the only cause.

When to contact BSNL
If repeated wired tests remain unstable, contact BSNL with a concise record of what happened. BSNL lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fiber/landline and offers a technical complaint form that includes Bharat Fiber Voice and Broadband as service types: BSNL Selfcare.
Include the following so the issue can be investigated against the timing and configuration:
- Your BSNL access type and plan, if known, and whether the test was wired or on Wi-Fi.
- The date and time of buffering, plus whether it recurs at particular times.
- The encoder’s resolution, frame rate, codec, and configured bitrate.
- The exact YouTube Live Control Room health message and its timestamp.
- Repeated upload-test results, with timestamps and any relevant shared network activity.
These details support troubleshooting; they do not establish in advance that BSNL is at fault. The information available here does not identify your local area, plan, ONT/router, or measured connection results, so it cannot determine the cause for an individual line.
