If a YouTube 24/7 stream is blocked in some countries, the restriction may come from a rights owner’s territorial settings, a geography-specific Content ID policy, or local law. A regional block alone does not prove that the channel has a copyright strike. If you operate the stream, check its claim details in YouTube Studio; if it is currently live, also check the live dashboard for real-time copyright warnings.
What “blocked in some countries” means
YouTube uses “Blocked in some countries or regions” for a Content ID restriction. A Content ID claim can block, monetize, or track a video, and the policy can differ by country or region. As YouTube Help puts it, “Any of these actions can be geography-specific.” Learn about copyright claims.

A separate possibility is that the rights owner has made the video available only in selected countries or regions, commonly because of licensing rights. YouTube also identifies local law as a reason a video may be unavailable in a location. A viewer may see “Video isn’t available in my country/region.” YouTube’s explanation of videos unavailable in some locations.

These are not, by themselves, proof of a copyright strike. A Content ID claim and a copyright removal request are different processes. If a removal request is valid, it results in a copyright strike; a regional availability restriction alone does not establish that one exists.

How to check restrictions on a stream you operate
Inspect the claim in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a desktop browser and open Content.
- Filter the content list for Claims, then find the stream or its archived video.
- In the Restrictions column, hover over Claims and choose See details.
- Under Content used, open See details to view the claimant and the claimed material.
Record the claimant, the claimed segment or content, the policy shown, and any affected territories displayed. More than one claimant can be involved: different claimants may claim different segments, and claimants can vary across territories. The particular stream’s exact country settings cannot be inferred from a viewer’s error message alone.
Check the live dashboard if the stream is on air
YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content, including other live broadcasts. YouTube Help states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If a match continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream; its live-stream guidance says a detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder and warns the operator to stop the third-party content. Check the YouTube Studio live dashboard for warnings or strikes while the broadcast is running. Copyright issues with live streams.

Account for the archived version
If you choose to archive a live stream, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the broadcast is completed. A stream that finished without a live interruption can therefore still have a claim on its archived video.
What to do about a claim or live interruption
If you have a license
Ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube says that even a licensed live stream may be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. A territorial availability limitation by itself does not ensure that a live stream will avoid interruption.

If you believe the claim is wrong
Dispute a claim only when you are confident you have all necessary rights. YouTube warns that an unsupported dispute may prompt a copyright removal request; a valid removal request produces a strike. If you do not have a clear basis to dispute, seek clarification from the claimant rather than treating a country block as proof that the claim is erroneous.

Check whether the stream plays from the affected country and compare that with playback from a location where it is available. This comparison is a practical indication that availability differs by location, not confirmation of the precise rights configuration or the reason for it. YouTube’s public Help pages do not provide a viewer-facing tool to inspect a particular stream’s territorial rights settings.

For a definite copyright explanation, ask the channel operator to inspect the claim in Studio. Viewers cannot see the creator’s claim details from the playback error alone.
