The Cambridge Audio Melomania A100 SE was announced at $149 in the US, not $250. That is the manufacturer’s October 2026 launch price—not a confirmed live retail price or guarantee of current stock. Cambridge Audio positions the SE as an evolution of its Melomania A100, adding Dolby Audio, but the announced specifications alone do not establish that it sounds as good as $250 earbuds.
What the A100 SE costs—and what the $250 headline gets wrong
Cambridge Audio announced the Melomania A100 SE for October 2026 availability at £129 in the UK, €149 in euro-priced markets, $149 in the US and HK$1280 in Hong Kong. The company said it would be available through its website and approved retailers. Those are announced launch prices; live checkout prices, inventory and retailer listings have not been verified. Cambridge Audio’s announcement is the source for the pricing and availability statement.

The $250 figure in the headline does not match the announced US price. It should not be mistaken for the A100 SE’s price, nor does the lower launch price by itself prove a sound-quality comparison with earbuds that cost $250.

What’s new in the Melomania A100 SE
Cambridge Audio describes the A100 SE as a new evolution of the original Melomania A100, with Dolby Audio as the named addition. The manufacturer says the feature is intended to give music an immersive, more natural presentation. That is the company’s description, not an independent listening assessment.
#1 Best Overall
- 10mm deep bass drivers
- aptX Lossless
- Up to 39 hours battery
- Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling
- Wireless Charging
The company also says the earbuds use Class A/B amplification and precision-tuned 10 mm Neodymium drivers, which it says are designed for deeper bass, richer mids and clear highs. These are manufacturer claims; the available evidence does not independently verify the sound or show how it compares with $250 alternatives.
Announced features and specifications
Cambridge Audio lists these features for the A100 SE. They are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results:
Rank #2
- 10mm deep bass drivers
- aptX Lossless
- Up to 39 hours battery
- Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling
- Wireless Charging
- Dolby Audio
- Class A/B amplification and 10 mm Neodymium drivers
- Adaptive Hybrid ANC

- Wireless and USB-C charging
- Up to 39 hours of total battery life
“Up to 39 hours” is a maximum claim from the manufacturer, not a measured real-world result here. No battery conditions or independent runtime test are established in the cited announcement, so it is not possible to infer how long the earbuds will last in a particular listening or ANC setup.

How the A100 SE differs from the original A100
The Melomania A100 and A100 SE are separate models. The original A100’s product page lists LDAC and aptX Lossless among its features and displayed a US price of $99 when accessed in 2026. That displayed price can change and is not the A100 SE’s launch price. See Cambridge Audio’s original A100 product page.

- User-Replaceable Battery & Earcups
- 100-Hour Battery Life
- DynamEQ - Dynamic Adaptive Equalisation
- aptX Lossless
- Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling
Do not assume the original A100’s listed codec support also applies to the SE: the SE announcement cited here does not establish its supported codecs. What Hi-Fi? reports black, white and blue finishes for the SE and repeats its £129, $149 and €149 pricing: What Hi-Fi?’s A100 SE coverage. TechRadar has also published a review, but the manufacturer’s announcement and specifications alone cannot substitute for a listening assessment: TechRadar’s A100 SE review.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the announced price make these a $250 alternative?
It makes the A100 SE a $149 announced launch-price option in the US, not a verified $250 product or a proven equivalent to earbuds at that higher price. To judge sound quality or value against another model, readers need comparable evidence—not just a feature list or a price gap.

- User-Replaceable Battery & Earcups
- 100-Hour Battery Life
- DynamEQ - Dynamic Adaptive Equalisation
- aptX Lossless
- Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling
A useful comparison should line up current prices and independent assessments of listening quality, ANC, battery life under stated conditions, codecs and spatial audio, comfort, call quality, water resistance and app controls. The available specifications and coverage do not establish a controlled, like-for-like comparison across those measures, so they do not support ranking the A100 SE above specific $250 earbuds.
