Yoti is a digital identity company founded in 2014. Its free Digital ID app lets people hold verified identity details and share selected attributes, while its main business sells identity verification, age assurance, electronic signatures and related AI services to companies and governments. Yoti’s current official pages cite more than 23 million global wallet downloads, but company-reported revenue was £29.0 million in 2025—not the £32 million-plus figure sometimes repeated.
What is Yoti?
Yoti combines a consumer identity wallet with business verification services. A person can use the app to create or hold a reusable Digital ID, then share specific verified details when a participating organisation requests them. Depending on the transaction, that may mean proving identity, confirming an age threshold or signing a document electronically.

The app is free for consumers. Yoti earns most of its commercial revenue from organisations that need to establish who a customer is, check an age, obtain a signature or automate parts of an identity workflow.

Reusable Digital ID wallet
The wallet is designed to let users keep verified identity attributes in one place and present them to a business or another person. Yoti says people also use peer-to-peer sharing for identity or age-related requests.

Identity verification
Businesses can use Yoti checks when they need to connect an account or service to a verified customer. The exact evidence requested depends on the organisation’s workflow and the jurisdiction in which it operates.
Age assurance
Yoti offers facial age estimation alongside alternative checking methods. The company says it has completed more than 1 billion age checks for approximately half a billion individuals over seven years. That is a company-reported volume, not an independent performance audit, and an age check is not the same as proving a person’s complete identity.
Electronic signatures
Yoti markets legally accepted eSignatures for business documents. Its official site has advertised prices from £0.40 per document; pricing can change, so organisations should verify the current schedule and any volume or feature charges before budgeting.

MyFace AI services
Yoti also lists passive liveness, facial recognition and injection-attack detection capabilities under its MyFace services. These tools are aimed at organisations building automated identity or fraud controls rather than at ordinary app users.
How many people use Yoti?
“Downloads” is the clearest public adoption measure, but it does not equal monthly active users, verified people or paying customers. Yoti’s dated January 2026 update and its newer official headline use different cumulative totals:

The difference between 21.5 million and “over 23 million” is consistent with continued downloads and with the later, undated headline. It should not be read as a count of people actively using the app today. Yoti says the vast majority of individuals download it after a business offers Yoti for an identity or age check, or when someone requests peer-to-peer sharing.

What are Yoti’s actual revenue figures?
The revenue sequence in the original headline is not supported by the official figures available for this article. In a January 2026 update, CEO Robin Tombs reported that revenue grew 62% in 2025 to £29.0 million, from £17.9 million in 2024. Yoti had reported £11.5 million for 2023.

The £6.2 million figure for 2022 and the claim of more than £32 million in 2025 were not corroborated by those official updates. They may reflect a different accounting period, forecast or secondary source, but they should not be presented as established Yoti revenue without supporting accounts. All figures above are company statements rather than an independently audited comparison supplied here.
Is Yoti safe?
There is no independent safety audit established by the available evidence, so Yoti should not be described as risk-free or independently proven superior. As with any identity service, the practical risk depends on the information requested, how the receiving organisation handles it and whether the user is dealing with a genuine request.

Before approving a request, check:
- which organisation is asking and whether you started the process yourself;
- which attributes are being requested and whether they are necessary for the transaction;
- the organisation’s privacy notice and retention policy;
- that the app and phone operating system are up to date; and
- that you are not sharing a verification code or approving an unexpected login.
A reusable wallet can reduce repeated form filling, but it also makes account recovery, phone security and the receiving organisation’s controls important parts of the overall security picture.

Yoti is used by UK businesses and is described by the company as trusted by governments and businesses worldwide, but there is no universal UK acceptance rule. A service accepts Yoti only when that organisation has integrated it and chosen it for the relevant identity, age or signature workflow. Always follow the relying organisation’s stated alternatives if Yoti is not offered.
The UK is the largest country market in Yoti’s published cumulative-download breakdown, with 7.3 million downloads in January 2026. That does not establish that the UK is Yoti’s largest market by revenue, because Yoti has not published a geographic revenue split in the figures above.

How does Yoti make money?
The consumer app acts as an entry point; the paid side is enterprise and government technology. Revenue can come from:
- identity-verification transactions and account-opening checks;
- age-assurance checks, including facial age estimation and alternative methods;
- electronic-signature documents;
- developer or platform use of biometric and liveness services; and
- larger deployments for businesses or public-sector organisations.
Prices vary by product, volume, country and contract. The publicly advertised eSignature starting price is only a reference point, not a complete cost for an implementation.
Yoti’s place in the UK digital-identity market
Yoti operates in a much larger sector. UK government analysis estimated £2.113 billion in digital-identity revenue across 266 firms in 2023/2024. Its 2026 update estimated £2.027 billion across 275 firms in 2024/2025, with £1.037 billion in gross value added and 9,624 full-time-equivalent roles. Those totals cover the entire UK sector, not Yoti, and should not be used to infer Yoti’s market share.
