Why did Witekio join as a Gold Member?

Witekio joined the Yocto Project as a Gold Member. The project described advocacy and community visibility as part of the company’s contribution. Yocto Project Lead Architect and Linux Foundation Fellow Richard Purdie said: “Advocacy and Training are critical functions of open source projects that tend to receive less fanfare than other project functions.”

Purdie also said: “Witekio brings expertise and funding, enabling us to do more on behalf of our community.” Witekio CEO Samir Bounab said: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised as a Gold Member of the Yocto Project.” The membership announcement does not specify a contribution amount or establish particular governance powers or member privileges: Yocto Project announcement.

In its own account, Witekio described embedded software services related to Yocto, staff time devoted to educational events and outreach, and a software offering called Embedded Kit. Those descriptions are the company’s own; they do not establish present-day availability of any service: Witekio’s membership announcement.
