YASHICA’s new Crew Digital Camera pairs a retractable 6x optical zoom with a 126g body and a flip-up screen. The company lists it at $168.20 USD as a preorder, with shipping scheduled for the week of 26 October 2026. Its headline specs are confirmed, but launch information does not establish how well it performs in real-world photography or video.
What is the YASHICA Crew?
The Crew is a pocket-sized compact camera that YASHICA positions for everyday use, travel and group photos. Its defining features are a retractable 6x optical zoom and a screen that flips upward through 180 degrees. The manufacturer’s product listing gives the body weight as 126g and its thickness as 25.7mm when powered off.

The screen is a 3-inch, 16:9 LCD. That aspect ratio is suited to widescreen video, while the upward flip can help with self-framing; the launch materials do not provide independent findings about screen visibility or usability.
How much zoom does it have, and is the lens wide enough for groups?
YASHICA specifies 6x optical zoom. Notebookcheck reports a 35mm-equivalent focal-length range of 31–183mm and a maximum aperture range of f/3.1–6.4 in its launch coverage. The 31mm wide end is not especially wide for fitting a large group into a tight indoor space, so the flip-up screen should not be mistaken for a guarantee that every group scene will fit in frame.

Does it really have a 36MP sensor?
No. YASHICA lists a 1/3.06-inch sensor with 13MP native resolution and JPEG output options up to 36MP. The 36MP figure refers to the largest listed JPEG output size, not the sensor’s native resolution; the launch materials do not establish the detail or image quality those files deliver.
What video modes are listed?
YASHICA advertises MP4 recording up to 4K, but its product listing does not specify frame rate or bit rate. Notebookcheck likewise notes that the launch information it reviewed did not state those details. Digital Camera World reports native 2.7K recording at 30p by default and up to 4K60 in its coverage. Those more specific modes are a publication’s report, not a fully documented specification in YASHICA’s basic listing.

What launch information does—and does not—establish
YASHICA’s specifications describe a lightweight compact with optical zoom, a flip-up screen and high-resolution output options. The listing currently has no customer reviews, and launch coverage does not provide independent tests of image quality, autofocus speed, battery endurance or real-world video quality. Treat the Crew as an announced product with published specifications, not as a camera whose performance has been independently verified.
