Choose the XTEINK X4 Pro if your priority is an exceptionally small, light reader, you want physical page buttons as well as touch, and you are comfortable loading compatible, non-DRM ebook files yourself. Choose a Kindle if you want Amazon’s integrated store and library, a larger screen with higher listed pixel density, USB-C charging, or model-specific features such as the Paperwhite’s waterproofing and warm light.
“Kindle” is a product family, not one specification. This comparison uses Amazon’s 2024 basic Kindle (11th Generation) as the everyday reference and identifies features that belong specifically to the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite (12th Generation). XTEINK’s figures are manufacturer specifications accessed in 2026; they are not independent laboratory measurements.

At a glance: the decision in one minute
| Question | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Do you need the smallest possible reader? | XTEINK X4 Pro | Its 4.3-inch display, 111 × 69 × 5.95 mm body and 72 g weight are substantially more pocketable than a typical 6-inch reader. |
| Do you buy most books from one built-in ebook store? | Kindle | Amazon provides an integrated purchasing, downloading and library-management workflow. |
| Do you want physical page-turn buttons and touch? | XTEINK X4 Pro | The X4 Pro combines buttons, a touchscreen and a front light. |
| Do you want the sharpest listed text of these references? | 2024 basic Kindle | Amazon lists 300 PPI on its 6-inch display; XTEINK lists 219 PPI on the X4 Pro. |
| Do you read near water or want warmer evening light? | Kindle Paperwhite (12th Generation) | Amazon lists IPX8 water resistance and adjustable warm light for this model. |
| Do you already own a library of unrestricted EPUB or TXT files? | XTEINK X4 Pro | Its listed app and USB import methods can be convenient, provided the files are compatible and not protected by unsupported DRM. |
Neither device is a universal winner. The X4 Pro trades ecosystem convenience and screen area for extreme portability; Kindle trades some pocketability for a mature store-and-sync experience.
Which Kindle is being compared?
Amazon’s 2024 basic Kindle (11th Generation) is the closest size-and-price category reference in the available specifications. It has a 6-inch touchscreen, 300 PPI, adjustable front light, dark mode, VoiceView over Bluetooth, USB-C and 16GB of internal storage. Regional availability and exact retail pricing vary.

The 2024 Kindle Paperwhite (12th Generation) is a larger, more feature-rich option rather than a direct size match. Amazon lists adjustable warm light, IPX8 waterproofing, USB-C, dark mode, 16GB storage and up to 12 weeks of battery life. Do not assume those Paperwhite features apply to every Kindle, particularly the basic model or older generations.
Size and portability
X4 Pro: genuinely pocket-sized
XTEINK lists the X4 Pro at 111 × 69 × 5.95 mm and 72 g, with a 4.3-inch display. Those numbers make it closer to a small phone or compact notepad than to a conventional six-inch ereader. It is suited to a jacket pocket, small bag or a reader you carry every day without planning around it.
The small body also creates the main ergonomic compromise: less text appears on each page. You may turn pages more often, reduce margins or choose a smaller font to fit your preferred amount of text. People who read technical PDFs, comics or large-print books should consider the display area before treating the weight advantage as decisive.
Kindle: more page area, model-dependent dimensions
Amazon lists the basic 2024 Kindle with a 6-inch display. The exact body dimensions and weight depend on the generation and model, so do not apply one Kindle’s measurements to the entire family. A six-inch page generally shows more words at the same font size and requires less frequent pagination than the X4 Pro.
For commuting, travel and one-handed use, the basic Kindle remains compact by ereader standards. It is not, however, as unobtrusive as a 4.3-inch device. The Paperwhite is designed around a larger reading surface and added protection rather than minimum bulk.
Rank #2
- Paper-Feel E-Ink Display & Focused Reading: Enjoy focused reading on a 4.3" E-Ink display with a paper-feel viewing experience. The glare-free screen and distraction-free system keep notifications and ads away, helping you stay immersed in your books.
- 0.19" ULTRA-THIN & 2.4 OZ LIGHTWEIGHT — Measuring just 0.19" thin and weighing approximately 2.4 oz, X4 Classic is designed for portable reading. Slip this compact eReader into a pocket, bag, or everyday carry for reading during commutes, travel, breaks, and other spare moments.
- PHYSICAL BUTTONS & GYROSCOPE PAGE TURNING — Turn pages using the dedicated physical buttons or the gyroscope-based shake function. These simple controls make X4 Classic convenient for one-handed reading and everyday use.
- MULTIPLE WAYS TO TRANSFER & READ YOUR FILES — Use the XTEINK App, microSD card, or USB connection to transfer compatible reading files. X4 Classic supports formats including TXT, EPUB, MOBI, PDF, and PNG, giving you flexible ways to manage your personal reading collection.
- MAGNETIC BACK & 920MAH BATTERY — The built-in magnetic back works with compatible magnetic surfaces and accessories, while the 920mAh battery supports everyday reading. With its compact eReader design, X4 Classic fits easily into daily reading routines at home, during travel, or on the go.
Display, sharpness and lighting
What the stated PPI means
XTEINK specifies 219 PPI for the X4 Pro; Amazon specifies 300 PPI for the 2024 basic Kindle. Pixel density is a useful indicator of how finely letter edges can be rendered, but it does not by itself predict perceived readability. Font choice, type size, contrast, lighting, viewing distance and the quality of the ebook’s typography all matter.
The Kindle’s larger 6-inch panel and higher listed density favor readers who want more text per page and crisp small type. The X4 Pro’s 4.3-inch panel favors compactness. If you normally enlarge fonts, the density difference may matter less than the available physical area and your preferred line length.

Front light and dark mode
The X4 Pro specification includes a front light, so it can be used in dim rooms without a separate lamp. Its touchscreen and buttons let you choose the interaction style that fits the situation. The 2024 basic Kindle also has an adjustable front light and dark mode. The Paperwhite adds adjustable warm light, which can make evening reading more comfortable for people who prefer a warmer color temperature.
There is no evidence here of a controlled, side-by-side readability or light-uniformity test. Treat the listed features as specifications, not a promise that one panel will look better under every lamp or at every brightness level.
Controls and everyday reading
X4 Pro: buttons plus touch
Physical page buttons are useful when your hands are cold, when you are wearing gloves, or when you want to turn pages without touching the reading surface. The X4 Pro also has a touchscreen, so menus, selection and navigation do not depend on buttons alone. This hybrid approach is one of its clearest advantages over a hypothetical button-only pocket reader.
Rank #3
- 3.7" Pocket eBook Reader, Only Approx. 58g: Take your library anywhere with XTEINK X3, a compact 3.7-inch pocket eReader designed for true everyday portability. At only approx. 58g and 5.1mm thin, it slips easily into your pocket, bag, or daily carry setup for reading during commutes, travel, and quick breaks.

Whether you are standing, commuting, or relaxing, XTEINK X3 makes page turning smoother, easier, and more intuitive than traditional touch-only reading devices.
- Personalized Features & Long-Lasting Battery:Switch between reading, photos, clock, and more for a customizable experience beyond traditional eReaders. Designed for everyday portability, XTEINK X3 delivers up to 10 hours of reading time, supporting about a week of casual reading on a single charge. For safe charging, use a locally certified charger and keep conductive objects away from the charging pin contacts during charging to help prevent short circuits.
- Magnetic-Ready Design with Pogo-Pin Charging: XTEINK X3 includes an Adhesive Metal Ring to enable magnetic attachment on compatible non-magnetic phone cases or surfaces, expanding compatibility for everyday use. The magnetic pogo-pin charging design maintains a clean, minimalist appearance while supporting convenient daily charging.
Kindle: touch-first interface
The cited 2024 Kindle models use touchscreens for page turns and navigation. VoiceView over Bluetooth is listed for the basic 2024 Kindle, which can help readers who use spoken interface feedback. Button placement and accessibility options differ by model, so confirm the exact generation if physical controls or assistive features are essential to you.

How the X4 Pro gets books
XTEINK lists EPUB and TXT document support, JPG and BMP images, and BIN and XTF font formats. It says books can be imported through its app or through USB mode. The device includes a 16GB microSD card and supports expansion up to 256GB, according to the manufacturer’s current specification.
A July 2026 independent launch report warns that XTEINK readers do not support DRM-protected ebooks. That limitation is more important than the file-extension list: an EPUB file can still be unusable if a retailer has wrapped it in protection the reader cannot authorize. Check the rights and format conditions for every source of books. Use legitimate downloads or files you created yourself; DRM removal is not a recommended workaround.
The app-and-USB workflow gives you control over your own files but adds steps. You may need to download a file on another device, connect the reader, copy it into the expected folder and safely eject it. Library metadata, covers and reading-position synchronization can depend on the file and the reader software rather than on a single cloud account.
How Kindle gets books
Kindle’s defining advantage is integration with Amazon’s ebook store and account-based library. Books bought through the store can be delivered to the reader and organized within Amazon’s ecosystem instead of being copied manually. The exact catalog, lending options, subscriptions and account features depend on your country and marketplace.
Kindle can also accept personal documents through Amazon’s supported delivery tools, but compatibility and conversion rules still apply. If most of your reading begins as a store purchase, the integrated workflow usually outweighs the X4 Pro’s removable-card flexibility. If your library is mostly unrestricted files from multiple sources, manual transfer may be acceptable or preferable.
Storage and wireless connections
The X4 Pro specification lists a 16GB microSD card with expansion up to 256GB, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Removable storage is useful for a large collection of compatible books, images or fonts, but the usable capacity depends on the card and the space consumed by system files. A card is also a component you can lose or replace.
Amazon lists 16GB of internal storage for both the 2024 basic Kindle and the 2024 Paperwhite in the cited identification information. Internal storage is simpler to manage: there is no card to format or reseat, although you cannot expand it in the same way. Wireless delivery and account synchronization are central to Kindle’s workflow.
Charging and battery expectations
X4 Pro uses pogo pins
The X4 Pro charges through a pogo-pin port rather than USB-C. XTEINK lists a magnetic charging adapter in the box but says a charging cable is not included. Plan where the adapter will connect and keep the supplied part with the reader; a generic USB-C lead is not a substitute for the pogo-pin connection.
The manufacturer lists a 1100mAh battery but does not provide a rated runtime in the cited specifications. Capacity alone cannot be converted into a reliable number of reading days because light level, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, page turns and standby behavior change consumption.
Best Value
- Compatibility: Designed specifically for the 4.3” Xteink X4 Pro e-reader. It is not compatible with other models of Xteink X4 e-reader and Xteink X3 e-reader. Please check your device model.
- Material: The design of the magnetic case is very fashionable, made of the premium PU leather exterior, scratch-resistant microfiber interior and hard PC inner case, which can better protect your device. This is why many people choose us!
- Strong Magnetic Adsorption:The built-in strong magnetic ensures that the device is firmly attached to the microfiber soft lining, preventing it from sliding or shifting during daily use. The installation and removal process is also very convenient.
- Slim & Lightweight:This magnetic case features an ultra-thin and lightweight design, the device not only reduces its overall volume but also effectively resists scratches, bumps, and daily wear. It can be easily placed in a bag or pocket without adding extra weight. At the same time, it enables you to comfortably enjoy a natural, one-handed reading experience.
- Magnetic Closure: When the cover is closed, it will stick to the screen, which can safely protect your device from dust, scratches and water splashes.
Kindle uses USB-C, with one published runtime claim
Amazon lists USB-C on the 2024 basic Kindle and 2024 Paperwhite. That connector is common across many current devices and is easier to replace or share while traveling. Amazon publishes up to 12 weeks of battery life for the 2024 Paperwhite; this is a manufacturer runtime claim whose real result depends on usage and settings. No equivalent rated runtime is established here for the X4 Pro, so comparing the two by “battery life” alone would be misleading.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Water resistance and physical protection
No waterproof rating is established in the cited X4 Pro specifications. XTEINK lists cases, matte or tempered-glass screen protectors and adhesive metal rings as accessories. Those products may help with scratches or mounting, but they do not turn the reader into a water-resistant device.
Amazon lists the 2024 Paperwhite as IPX8 waterproof. IP ratings describe tested conditions, not permission to use any device in salt water, a sauna or a high-pressure shower. The basic 2024 Kindle’s cited identification does not include the Paperwhite’s IPX8 claim, so choose the model based on the protection you actually need.

XTEINK’s product page listed the X4 Pro at $99 and showed it as sold out when accessed in 2026. That is a time- and market-specific listing, not a guaranteed current price or indication of replenishment. Check stock, shipping region, taxes and return terms before ordering.
Amazon Kindle pricing changes by country, promotion, storage configuration and generation. Confirm whether a listing is for the 2024 basic Kindle (11th Generation), the 2024 Paperwhite (12th Generation) or an older model. A low price on a search result may refer to a previous generation or a refurbished unit with different specifications.
Setup: transferring a book to the X4 Pro
- Verify the file. Confirm that the ebook is in a listed format such as EPUB or TXT and is not protected by DRM that the reader cannot authorize.
- Choose a transfer method. Use the XTEINK app if you prefer wireless transfer, or connect the reader in USB mode for direct copying.
- Copy the book. Place the file in the location recognized by the reader or app, following the on-screen instructions for your firmware version.
- Eject safely. Finish the transfer and safely disconnect USB before opening the book. An incomplete copy can appear as a missing or unreadable title.
- Adjust the reading view. Set font, margins, front-light level and page-turn method. The small display may require a different text size than a six-inch Kindle.
If a file does not appear, check its extension, whether it is encrypted, the destination folder and available card space. Do not assume that changing an extension fixes an incompatible or protected file.
Setup: starting with a 2024 Kindle
- Identify the generation. Confirm that the device is the basic 11th Generation 2024 model or the Paperwhite 12th Generation 2024 model before relying on a feature such as warm light or waterproofing.
- Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in. Use the Amazon account and marketplace that will manage your purchases and deliveries.
- Download a book. Select a title in the Kindle store or send a supported personal document through Amazon’s delivery workflow.
- Set lighting and accessibility. Adjust the front light; on the Paperwhite, set warm light if desired. The basic model lists VoiceView over Bluetooth and dark mode.
- Charge with USB-C. Use a compatible USB-C cable and power source, then check the battery indicator before a trip.
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
- Buying by the word “Kindle.” Compare the exact generation and model. Paperwhite specifications must not be generalized to the basic Kindle.
- Assuming EPUB means universal compatibility. DRM, malformed files and unsupported fonts can prevent an ebook from opening on the X4 Pro.
- Expecting USB-C on the X4 Pro. Its pogo-pin adapter is a different charging setup, and the listed box contents do not include a charging cable.
- Using PPI as the only readability test. Density is only one factor; page size, font size, contrast and lighting affect comfort.
- Comparing battery numbers that measure different things. The X4 Pro source gives capacity, while Amazon gives a Paperwhite runtime estimate. They are not equivalent measurements.
- Assuming stock or price is permanent. The $99 X4 Pro listing was sold out when accessed in 2026, and Kindle prices and regional models change.
- Treating a case as waterproofing. The X4 Pro has no established waterproof rating in the cited specifications. The IPX8 claim belongs to the 2024 Paperwhite.
Which reader should you buy?
Choose the XTEINK X4 Pro when
- You want a 4.3-inch reader that weighs 72 g and can disappear into a small pocket.
- You value physical page buttons but still want touchscreen navigation and a front light.
- Your books are compatible, non-DRM files and you are comfortable transferring them through an app or USB.
- You want microSD-based storage, with the manufacturer listing expansion up to 256GB.
- You accept a proprietary pogo-pin charging setup and the absence of an established waterproof rating.
Choose the 2024 basic Kindle when
- You want a 6-inch, 300 PPI display and a straightforward Amazon purchasing and library workflow.
- USB-C, adjustable front light, dark mode or VoiceView over Bluetooth are important to you.
- You prefer internal 16GB storage and do not need a removable card.
Choose the 2024 Kindle Paperwhite when
- You want Amazon’s ecosystem plus adjustable warm light and IPX8 waterproofing.
- You value the manufacturer’s up-to-12-week battery-life claim and a larger reading experience.
- You are willing to choose a model that is less focused on minimum pocket size than the X4 Pro.
Final verdict
The XTEINK X4 Pro is a specialist pocket reader, not a drop-in replacement for every Kindle. Its unusually small 4.3-inch format, 72 g body, buttons, touch and front light make it compelling as an everyday-carry or secondary device. The trade-offs are manual file management, unsupported DRM-protected ebooks, pogo-pin charging, no stated runtime and no established waterproof rating.
Recommended Free Tools
For most readers who buy books through Amazon, the 2024 basic Kindle is the safer default because its 6-inch, 300 PPI screen and integrated account workflow remove friction. The 2024 Paperwhite is the better Kindle choice when warm light, IPX8 protection and the published up-to-12-week battery claim matter more than carrying the smallest possible reader. Decide first whether your priority is pocketability and file freedom or store integration and model-specific convenience; the correct device follows from that choice.
