1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesShort answer: The X Subscription is potentially the better fit if you would otherwise pay for comparable X, Grok, and Cursor plans and will use all three. Its Premium tier costs $30 per month, and xAI says it combines the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, which it previously priced at $90 per month combined. That statement is a publisher comparison, not an independent savings study or a promise that every allowance is identical. If you need only one service, depend heavily on third-party models in Cursor, or value a legacy X plan, paying separately may still make more sense.
The deciding details are the services you actually use, the plan and billing channel you would choose, and how you consume AI. Grok and Cursor share one included usage pool in the bundle. Third-party Cursor models such as Claude or GPT are outside that allowance and draw from prepaid credits. Existing subscribers can keep their current plans; switching is optional under the current documentation.

What The X Subscription includes
Announced on October 2, 2026, The X Subscription combines X, Grok, Grok Bot, and Cursor under one account-level subscription. The individual tiers are Free, Plus, Premium, Super, and Ultra. Paid tiers apply X benefits when you connect an eligible personal X account, while the AI allowance is shared between Grok and Cursor rather than issued as a separate quota for each app.

The service is not simply a discounted X Premium account. It is a bundle with different usage multipliers and feature gates. The published plan documentation gives the following prices and usage multipliers:
#1 Best Overall
| Tier | Monthly price | Annual price | Monthly equivalent when paid annually | Published usage information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | Free access; the cited plan summary does not state a multiplier. |
| Plus | $8 | $80 | $7 | Baseline for the published multipliers; the announcement says Plus adds more AI use than Free. |
| Premium | $30 | $300 | $25 | 4× the Plus plan’s included usage. |
| Super | $100 | $1,000 | About $84 | 15× the Plus plan’s included usage. |
| Ultra | $200 | $2,000 | About $167 | 50× the Plus plan’s included usage. |
The annual figures are the amounts billed for a year, not twelve monthly installments. The equivalent monthly numbers are rounded. Tax may be added, and the amount shown at checkout can vary by country, currency, payment method, or app-store billing.
How the headline $30 versus $90 comparison should be read
xAI’s October 2 announcement describes Premium as providing the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, “previously $90/month combined.” This is the clearest official comparison between the bundle and separate products. It does not establish that a customer in every market would pay exactly $90 today, nor that every usage limit, model, or feature in those named plans is identical to the Premium bundle.
| Option | Published price or comparison | What the figure does—and does not—tell you |
|---|---|---|
| The X Subscription Premium | $30 per month, or $300 per year | Includes the published Premium-tier X, Grok, Grok Bot, and Cursor benefits, subject to the shared allowance and feature terms. |
| xAI’s named previous combination | $90 per month combined | xAI’s comparison for SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+ benefits; it is not an independently verified savings statistic. |
| SuperGrok alone | $30 per month for SuperGrok; $100 per month for SuperGrok Plus | Current prices shown on xAI’s standalone pricing page; recheck before purchase because prices can change. |
| Cursor alone | Standalone paid plans are listed, but a stable numeric price was not present in the captured official page text | Use the live Cursor checkout to see the current plan price and included allowance rather than relying on a remembered or third-party figure. |
The $90 statement can therefore be useful as a starting point, but not as your personal bill. For example, someone who would buy only SuperGrok at $30 has no reason to pay $30 for a bundle unless the X and Cursor benefits will be used. Conversely, a developer who needs Cursor’s third-party model credits may spend beyond the $30 subscription.
Legacy X prices make the comparison more complicated
Some readers are not choosing a new bundle from zero; they already have an older X subscription. The X FAQ lists these legacy U.S. web prices:
| Legacy X tier | Monthly web price | Annual web price |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $3 | $32 |
| Premium | $8 | $84 |
| Premium+ | $40 | $395 |
Those figures apply to the legacy tiers described by the FAQ, not necessarily to every new checkout. X says regional pricing, tax, availability, and payment method affect the actual amount. Existing subscribers keep their current price and features until they choose to switch. That means a person on an unusually favorable grandfathered plan should compare the retained benefits against the new bundle instead of assuming the new $30 Premium tier is automatically cheaper.
The shared usage pool is the most important technical difference
The included AI allowance is one pool that covers first-party usage in both Grok and Cursor. The official documentation describes it as covering Grok Bot usage and Grok models across Grok and Cursor. It is not a full allowance in Grok plus another full allowance in Cursor.
What sharing looks like in practice
- A long coding session in Cursor can reduce the amount of included Grok usage available later in the period.
- Heavy Grok conversations, image or generation requests, or Grok Bot activity can leave less of the shared allowance for Cursor.
- The 4×, 15×, and 50× figures are multipliers relative to Plus’s allowance, not independent quotas for every product.
- The plan documentation describes the usage period as weekly; check the account’s live meter for the reset timing and remaining amount.
This structure rewards people whose combined use fits inside one pool. It can frustrate someone who expects to run both services at maximum intensity at the same time. There is no published independent statistic showing typical consumption, average savings, or what percentage of subscribers exhaust the pool, so estimate from your own activity rather than from the headline multiplier.

First-party versus third-party models in Cursor
The included pool covers the first-party Grok models made available through the bundle. Third-party models in Cursor, including models such as Claude or GPT, are not included. Cursor bills those requests from prepaid credits at the applicable API list prices.
This distinction can reverse the apparent bargain for a developer. If your work depends mainly on the covered Grok models, the bundle may be predictable. If your daily workflow routes most prompts to third-party models, you need to budget the subscription and the separate credit balance. The $30 plan price does not cap or prepay those external-model charges.
Features by bundle tier
The published announcement and pricing documentation describe meaningful feature differences in addition to usage:
| Tier | Documented benefits | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free access to the service. | The cited summary does not provide a complete feature or allowance list. |
| Plus | More AI use than Free, an X checkmark, creator tools, and fewer ads. | Grok Bot is not listed as included at this tier. |
| Premium | The announcement says it includes the previous SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+ benefits. | Grok Bot is included; Grok and Cursor draw from the shared 4× Plus usage pool. |
| Super | Higher included usage, listed as 15× Plus. | Grok Bot is included; third-party Cursor models still use separate credits. |
| Ultra | Highest listed included usage, 50× Plus. | Grok Bot is included; the multiplier does not make third-party model credits free. |
“Fewer ads” and other X benefits are plan features, not a guarantee that every surface is entirely ad-free unless the current feature list says so. Check the live plan description for the exact wording before paying, especially if X features are the main reason you are considering the bundle.
Who is likely to prefer the bundle?
You would otherwise buy all three comparable services
Premium is the strongest candidate when your alternative is a paid X tier, a paid Grok tier, and Cursor Pro. In that case, one bill and one account can replace several subscriptions, and the official $90 comparison gives you a reference point. Confirm that the bundle’s model access and usage pool fit your actual workload before treating the difference as savings.
You use X as well as AI tools
The bundle adds value through X checkmark and creator features, ad reduction or removal where the tier specifies it, and the ability to connect your personal X account. If you would never use those benefits, they should not be counted as monetary value in your calculation.
Your first-party usage is moderate and shared
People who alternate between Grok and Cursor and rarely exhaust the weekly pool may find sharing convenient. The arrangement is less attractive when two separate workloads each need a full allowance at the same time.
Rank #3
You want a high ceiling without juggling multiple renewals
Super and Ultra raise the included multiplier to 15× and 50× Plus respectively. They can simplify administration for high-volume users, but the higher price only pays off if that usage would otherwise require equivalent paid capacity. There is no independent usage study proving that any tier delivers a universal cost advantage.
Who should keep separate subscriptions?
You need only one product
A person who wants only Grok can compare the $30 SuperGrok or $100 SuperGrok Plus price with the bundle, then decide whether X and Cursor features justify the difference. A person who wants only Cursor should compare the live Cursor plan directly; the captured official page did not provide a stable numeric price to use here.
You rely heavily on third-party Cursor models
Separate Cursor billing does not make third-party models free, but it can make your accounting clearer. With the bundle, you still pay for those models through prepaid credits after paying for the subscription. Estimate the model mix and API rates before switching.
You value a grandfathered X plan
Existing X customers may retain legacy pricing or features that are not reproduced exactly in the new tiers. Because existing plans continue until you change or cancel them, compare what you would lose as well as what you would gain.
You do not use X
If X contributes no practical value to your work or social activity, the bundle’s X component is an unused part of the purchase. In that case, standalone Grok or Cursor may be easier to justify even if the bundle has a lower advertised combined price.

Use the prices and usage you would actually choose, not the largest numbers in the announcement. Complete this worksheet before changing a subscription:
- List the services you would keep. Write down your intended X tier, Grok tier, Cursor plan, and whether you need Grok Bot.
- Record the real billing channel. Note whether each subscription is billed on the web, through Apple, or through Google Play. Store billing can have different cancellation and tax treatment.
- Capture current checkout totals. Include regional tax and currency conversion. For annual plans, use the full amount billed today and divide by twelve only for a monthly comparison.
- Estimate first-party usage. Review your recent Grok activity and Cursor’s usage display. Decide whether one shared weekly pool can support both products.
- Separate third-party usage. Estimate credits for Claude, GPT, or other external models in Cursor. Add those credits to both scenarios; the bundle does not include them.
- Value X features honestly. Assign a value only to benefits you will use, such as creator tools, the checkmark, or reduced advertising.
- Compare totals and switching risk. Put the bundle price, standalone prices, external-model credits, and any cancellation or refund effects in two columns. Choose the lower total only if the feature and usage requirements also match.
This calculation avoids a common mistake: comparing $30 with a quoted $90 without checking whether the $90 represented the same plans, region, billing channel, and usage limits you would purchase.

What happens to existing subscribers?
Current documentation says switching to The X Subscription is optional. Existing X Premium, SuperGrok, and Cursor subscribers can keep their current plans and terms unless they change or cancel them.
Eligible accounts may be combined when a customer switches, and documentation indicates that prorated refunds may be available. The exact result depends on the billing channel and account eligibility, so read the offer shown in your account before confirming. Do not assume every payment method receives the same refund automatically.

App Store subscriptions need special attention
If Cursor is billed through Apple’s App Store, the documentation says cancellation must be handled separately with Apple. A bundle signup does not necessarily cancel that store subscription for you. Check Apple’s Subscriptions screen, the X account billing page, and any Grok billing page after switching so you do not pay twice.
Allow time for account linking
Paid X benefits apply when the subscriber connects a personal X account. Use the same identity and email details requested during setup, then verify that the checkmark, creator tools, Grok Bot access, and Cursor entitlement appear before canceling an older plan. Keep receipts and note the next renewal date for each service.
Regional prices, taxes, and changing terms
All dollar figures in the published plan tables are reference prices. X states that regional price, tax, availability, and payment method can alter the amount. The legacy X figures are specifically U.S. web prices. App-store purchases can show a different total from a web checkout, and annual plans create a larger one-time charge even when their monthly equivalent looks lower.
Pricing and features are dynamic. The SuperGrok figures come from xAI’s current pricing page, while the bundle documentation was updated on October 11 and October 12, 2026. Recheck the live plan page and checkout immediately before subscribing, especially for Cursor, whose captured page did not expose a stable numeric price.

Common traps to avoid
- Assuming the pools are separate: Grok and Cursor first-party usage reduces the same weekly balance.
- Treating the 4×, 15×, or 50× figures as guarantees: They are plan multipliers relative to Plus, not a promise that every request has the same cost or that both products receive a multiplier each.
- Forgetting external-model credits: Claude, GPT, and other third-party Cursor models are billed separately at API list prices.
- Comparing unlike X plans: New Premium and legacy Premium+ are different plan families with different published prices and benefits.
- Ignoring annual cash flow: $300 billed today is not the same payment experience as $25 monthly, even though the arithmetic is equivalent.
- Canceling the old plan too early: Verify entitlements and refund terms first, particularly for App Store billing.
- Calling the bundle proven savings: The published materials provide a provider comparison, not an independent study of customer savings or typical usage.
Decision guide
| Your situation | More defensible choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You need X benefits, Grok, and Cursor Pro-level access and mostly use covered first-party models. | Compare The X Subscription Premium first. | The $30 price and unified account address all three needs, subject to the shared pool. |
| You use only Grok. | Compare standalone SuperGrok or SuperGrok Plus. | You avoid paying for unused X and Cursor components. |
| You use Cursor mostly with Claude, GPT, or other external models. | Price standalone Cursor and the required credits against the bundle. | External-model requests remain extra in either arrangement, and the bundle’s included pool may not help your main workload. |
| You have a favorable legacy X plan. | Keep it until a side-by-side account calculation supports switching. | Existing terms continue, and changing plans can alter price or features. |
| You need very high covered-model usage across both products. | Evaluate Super or Ultra using your actual consumption. | The 15× and 50× multipliers raise the ceiling, but only your usage can establish value. |
Bottom line
The X Subscription is best viewed as a convenience-and-coverage bundle, not an automatic discount. Premium’s $30 monthly price is compelling when it replaces the exact X, Grok, and Cursor benefits you would otherwise buy and your first-party usage fits one shared pool. Separate subscriptions remain rational for single-product users, legacy-plan holders, and developers whose Cursor work depends on third-party model credits. Check the current regional checkout, confirm the live Cursor price, and review your own weekly usage before switching.
