XREAL One Pro vs. Rokid Max 2: Display Quality, Comfort, and Compatibility Compared

Short answer: Choose XREAL One Pro if you want the widest published field of view, higher stated brightness, glasses-powered 3DoF anchoring, and adjustable electrochromic dimming. Choose Rokid Max 2 if lower weight, built-in myopia adjustment, or a 1920×1200 mode through Rokid Station 2 matters more.

The requested name “Xreal One Pro+” is ambiguous. XREAL’s current product names distinguish XREAL One Pro from a separate XREAL 1 Pro+. The comparison below uses XREAL One Pro, the model with a directly comparable official specification set.

Neither pair is a self-contained wireless headset. Both act as wearable displays, so the source device, its USB-C video capabilities, power delivery, and any required adapter determine whether the glasses work.

Display quality: field of view, brightness, resolution, and motion

Field of view determines how large the screen feels

XREAL One Pro publishes a 57° field of view (FOV), compared with approximately 50° for Rokid Max 2. A wider FOV lets a virtual screen occupy more of your visual field at a similar viewing distance. That is useful for films, games, spreadsheets, and large desktop windows because you are less likely to feel that you are looking through a narrow window.

  • 57°FOV, 171'' Spatial Screen – More Immersive Visual Experience: Experience a virtual screen starting at 171 inches wide, filling your view with blockbuster visuals, thanks to XREAL’s advanced optics and industry-leading 57° FOV. Powered by Sony’s 0.55' Micro-OLED display technology and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, get swept into your games or movies with immersion that rivals traditional home theaters—without the size, setup, or space concerns.

The FOV figures are not a measurement of image sharpness. They describe angular coverage. Your perceived clarity still depends on focus, IPD alignment, the source resolution, and how well the lenses sit in front of your eyes. The numerical advantage belongs to XREAL, but users with an imperfect fit may not see the full benefit of either specification.

Brightness and outside-light handling

XREAL rates One Pro at up to 700 nits perceived brightness. Rokid rates Max 2 at up to 600 nits perceived brightness. Those are perceived-brightness figures rather than a guarantee that every scene will look equally bright in every environment. Bright daylight, reflections, lens position, and the source image all affect the result.

XREAL also describes an improved display design intended to reduce outside-light interference and front-surface reflections. One Pro adds three electrochromic transparency modes, allowing you to change how much of the outside scene is visible through the lenses. That combination is the stronger option for people who move between a dark room, an office, and brighter surroundings and want control without physically swapping a cover.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The official Max 2 specifications reviewed for this comparison do not document an equivalent electrochromic dimming system. Treat Rokid’s approximately 600-nit rating as a display specification, not as a claim that it offers the same tint-control behavior.

Resolution and refresh rate are not the same thing

Both products use a 1920×1080-per-eye baseline and support high refresh rates. XREAL One Pro uses Sony 0.55-inch Micro-OLED panels, lists up to 120 Hz, and publishes 3 ms motion-to-photon latency. Rokid Max 2 lists FHD 1920×1080 per eye and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Rokid has a separate higher-resolution path: when Max 2 is connected to Rokid Station 2, Rokid says the glasses can reach 1920×1200. The default mode remains 1920×1080. Therefore, the 1200-pixel vertical figure is conditional on the companion device and should not be treated as the glasses’ ordinary direct-connection resolution.

At 120 Hz, compatible games and video can look smoother than at 60 Hz, but the source must output the mode and the application must render at an appropriate frame rate. A 120 Hz panel does not turn a low-frame-rate game into a 120-frame-per-second experience.

Spatial display: XREAL has the simpler anchoring story

XREAL One Pro includes glasses-powered three-degrees-of-freedom (3DoF) processing. In practical terms, a large virtual screen can remain spatially anchored as you turn your head, without requiring a separate spatial puck. XREAL’s connection guidance says the source must support DisplayPort video output and provide 5V/1A power to use a spatial large-screen display.

Rokid Max 2 can be paired with Station 2, but the reviewed Max 2 specification does not state that the glasses themselves provide the same built-in 3DoF experience. If your priority is a screen that stays positioned in space while you look around, One Pro has the clearer out-of-the-box advantage. If you are content with a conventional mirrored display, this distinction matters less.

Comfort and fit for long sessions

Rokid is lighter on paper

Rokid Max 2 weighs approximately 75 g, while XREAL One Pro is listed at 87 g. The difference is about 12 g. That can matter during several-hour sessions, especially for users sensitive to nose or ear pressure.

Weight is only one part of comfort. Balance, temple pressure, nose-pad shape, cable routing, lens alignment, and whether you need prescription correction can outweigh a small difference on the scale. A lighter frame that sits out of alignment may produce more eye strain than a heavier frame with a better fit.

IPD fit on XREAL One Pro

XREAL offers two physical interpupillary-distance (IPD) sizes: 57–66 mm and 66–75 mm. XREAL says these ranges cover 95% of consumers and are intended to reduce blur and cut-off edges caused by a poor optical match.

Because the two sizes are physical variants, select the range that matches your measured IPD when ordering. Do not assume that software adjustment can compensate for choosing the wrong hardware range. If your IPD is near a boundary, measure carefully and check the seller’s exchange policy.

Myopia adjustment on Rokid Max 2

Rokid Max 2 includes real-time 0.00D to -6.00D adjustment. Users within that range may be able to focus the display without prescription inserts, which simplifies travel and lowers the number of parts you need to carry.

The adjustment range is for myopia. It does not automatically correct every prescription, astigmatism, or farsightedness. If your prescription falls outside 0.00D to -6.00D, or includes significant cylinder correction, confirm lens compatibility before purchase.

Prescription compatibility is model-specific

XREAL states that One Pro prescription lenses differ from earlier XREAL designs. Do not order inserts made for another XREAL model solely because the frames look similar. Ask the lens provider for One Pro compatibility and supply your current prescription.

Rokid’s built-in diopter adjustment can reduce the need for inserts for some myopic users, but it is not a substitute for checking the full prescription. In both cases, optical fit should be treated as a purchase requirement rather than an accessory decision made afterward.

Compatibility: phones, computers, handhelds, and consoles

The USB-C requirement both products share

A USB-C connector by itself is not enough. The source must support DisplayPort video output over USB-C, and it must provide the required power. XREAL specifically calls for a USB-C DisplayPort source and 5V/1A power. Rokid describes Max 2 for USB-C DisplayPort/OTG sources.

XREAL xbx a01+ AR Glasses, 147'' Big-Screen Display for Movies & Gaming
  • YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
  • ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
  • 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
  • LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
  • WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.
  • Check the exact phone, tablet, computer, or handheld model, not just its connector shape.
  • Look for DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB-C video output, or the manufacturer’s external-display specification.
  • Confirm that the port can supply power while sending video.
  • Expect an adapter for HDMI-only devices.

XREAL One Pro device coverage

XREAL’s compatibility guide covers USB-C iPhone models, Android phones, iPad and Android tablets, Windows and Mac computers, handheld gaming devices, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. HDMI sources need an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Nintendo Switch has a specific requirement: XREAL says it needs an XREAL Hub. The Hub is therefore part of the Switch connection plan rather than an optional enhancement to a normal USB-C phone setup.

Rokid Max 2 named examples

Rokid specifically names MacBook, Windows PC, iPhone 15, Steam Deck, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch as direct-connection examples. The source must still meet the USB-C DisplayPort/OTG requirement where applicable; a device appearing on a compatibility list does not mean every port or cable configuration will work.

Rokid also says Windows can treat the glasses as an expansion screen. That is useful when you want a separate virtual monitor rather than a simple duplicate of the laptop display.

Adapters and cables can be the failure point

HDMI output cannot travel directly through a passive USB-C cable. You need an adapter designed to convert HDMI video to the glasses’ USB-C display input, and the adapter may need separate power. Console docks, capture hardware, and older phones can also impose limitations.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When troubleshooting, test with a known-compatible USB-C DisplayPort source first. If that works, add the adapter, dock, or console path one component at a time. This isolates whether the problem is the glasses, the cable, the source port, or the adapter.

Setup procedures

Basic XREAL One Pro setup

  1. Identify a source USB-C port that supports DisplayPort video output.
  2. Confirm the source can provide 5V/1A power to the glasses.
  3. Connect the glasses with a USB-C cable rated for video, not a charge-only cable.
  4. On a computer or tablet, choose duplicate or extended-display mode as needed.
  5. Use the One Pro’s display and transparency controls to select the brightness and electrochromic mode appropriate for the room.
  6. For Nintendo Switch, place the XREAL Hub in the connection chain specified by XREAL and supply its required power.
  7. For HDMI equipment, connect through a compatible HDMI-to-USB-C adapter and power the adapter if its instructions require it.

Basic Rokid Max 2 setup

  1. Confirm that the source supports USB-C DisplayPort/OTG output.
  2. Connect Max 2 with a full-featured USB-C video cable.
  3. Set the source to mirror or extend the display; Windows can use the glasses as an expansion screen.
  4. Adjust the diopter controls within the 0.00D to -6.00D range until text is clear.
  5. If using Station 2, connect the glasses through the Station 2 workflow and select the supported 1920×1200 mode when the source offers it.
  6. For a listed console or another HDMI-only source, use the appropriate powered conversion hardware rather than a passive cable.

Total system cost and accessory planning

The glasses are only one part of the purchase. A direct USB-C phone or laptop connection may require no companion device beyond a suitable cable, while consoles, HDMI sources, spatial features, and prescription needs can add hardware.

Cost element XREAL One Pro Rokid Max 2
Glasses price reference $599 listed on the XREAL US Shop when accessed; recheck the current listing Not stated in the supplied official material
Spatial or companion device Glasses-powered 3DoF; no separate spatial puck required for the stated feature Station 2 is the path Rokid identifies for 1920×1200 output
Console or HDMI adapter HDMI-to-USB-C adapter for HDMI sources; XREAL Hub for Nintendo Switch Adapter or powered conversion hardware may be needed for non-USB-C sources
Prescription solution Model-specific One Pro prescription lenses or inserts Built-in 0.00D to -6.00D adjustment may cover some myopic users

Because accessory bundles and retail prices change, compare the complete setup you need rather than the frame price alone. A lower-priced pair can become the more expensive system if it requires a companion device, a powered adapter, and prescription inserts.

Which model should you choose?

Choose XREAL One Pro when the display itself is the priority

  • You want the widest published FOV: 57° versus approximately 50°.
  • You prefer the higher stated perceived brightness of up to 700 nits.
  • You want glasses-powered 3DoF anchoring without adding a spatial puck.
  • You move between lighting conditions and value three electrochromic transparency modes.
  • Your IPD falls within one of the 57–66 mm or 66–75 mm physical ranges.

Choose Rokid Max 2 when fit, weight, or 1200p matters most

  • You want the lighter published design at approximately 75 g.
  • You need built-in adjustment for myopia between 0.00D and -6.00D.
  • You plan to use Station 2 and specifically want the stated 1920×1200 mode.
  • Your main sources are among Rokid’s named examples, such as MacBook, Windows PC, iPhone 15, Steam Deck, PS5, or Nintendo Switch.
  • You are satisfied with approximately 50° FOV and do not require electrochromic tint control.

Common problems and practical fixes

Nothing appears on screen

  • Verify DisplayPort video output on the USB-C port; charging-only ports will not work.
  • Try a different full-featured USB-C cable.
  • Connect directly to the source instead of through a dock.
  • Check that the glasses receive power, especially on phones with limited USB-C output.
  • For HDMI, use an active, compatible HDMI-to-USB-C adapter with power where required.

The image is blurry or clipped

  • Recheck IPD and select the correct XREAL physical size.
  • Center the glasses on your face and adjust the nose and temple contact points.
  • On Rokid, set the diopter gradually rather than turning it to an extreme position immediately.
  • Confirm that prescription inserts match the exact model.

The screen feels too small

Rokid’s approximately 50° FOV is narrower than XREAL One Pro’s 57° specification. A correct fit and stable viewing distance can improve the experience, but they cannot change the optical FOV. If a broad, cinema-like image is your deciding factor, the XREAL specification is the stronger match.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Motion or refresh rate is disappointing

Set the source to 120 Hz only if the source, cable, operating system, and application support it. High refresh mode can also increase power use. For Rokid’s 1920×1200 mode, use Station 2 and verify that the source is actually outputting that mode rather than defaulting to 1920×1080.

Bottom line

XREAL One Pro is the better display-focused choice: its 57° FOV, up to 700-nit perceived brightness, built-in 3DoF, and three transparency modes address the biggest limitations people notice in wearable monitors. Rokid Max 2 is the better fit-focused and flexibility-focused choice for users who value a lighter frame, integrated 0.00D to -6.00D myopia adjustment, or the Station 2 route to 1920×1200. Before ordering either, verify USB-C DisplayPort support on your exact source and include any adapter, hub, companion device, or prescription solution in the budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do XREAL One Pro or Rokid Max 2 work from any USB-C port?

No. The port must support DisplayPort video output, and the device must supply the required power. A USB-C charging-only port is insufficient.

Is Rokid Max 2 always 1920×1200?

No. Rokid lists 1920×1080 as the default and identifies 1920×1200 as available when the glasses are connected to Station 2.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use either model with an HDMI-only console?

Yes, but not with a passive cable. You need a compatible HDMI-to-USB-C conversion adapter, and some adapters require separate power.

Which model is more suitable for a user with moderate myopia?

Rokid Max 2 has a built-in 0.00D to -6.00D adjustment range. XREAL One Pro requires model-specific prescription lenses or inserts when your eyesight cannot be corrected by the display’s normal focus.
