XREAL says its AURA Android XR glasses will cost no more than $1,500 for the base model, before applicable taxes—but that is a price ceiling, not a confirmed retail price. Samsung lists the Galaxy S26 Ultra at $1,399.99 for 256GB in the U.S. at list price, making the comparison close on paper. The two products are not alternatives in the usual sense: AURA is optical see-through glasses connected to a compute puck, while the S26 Ultra is a smartphone.
How much will XREAL AURA cost?
XREAL’s official AURA page says the base model’s final retail price will not exceed US$1,500, excluding applicable taxes. XREAL has not announced the final price or confirmed which listed configurations will be sold at launch. Treat $1,500 as the maximum announced price for the base model, not as a confirmed price.

XREAL expects AURA to launch in Fall 2026, but has not given an exact shipping date. The company says final pricing, configurations and shipping details will be announced closer to launch. Availability can vary by region.

| Product or configuration | Price basis | Price |
|---|---|---|
| XREAL AURA base model | Maximum retail price announced by XREAL; final price pending | Up to US$1,500, before applicable taxes |

| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 1TB | Samsung U.S. list price, checked October 7, 2026 | $1,999.99 |
The comparison works if it is framed as a price check: AURA’s announced ceiling is $100.01 above the S26 Ultra’s 256GB U.S. list price. It is not a like-for-like product comparison, and AURA’s final price is still unknown. Samsung’s U.S. listing may show a lower live offer than the list prices above.
What are you paying for with AURA?
AURA is an optical see-through XR glasses system: the glasses show digital content while allowing the wearer to see the physical surroundings, and a separate compute puck runs Android XR. Google’s June 16, 2026 announcement describes it as XREAL’s first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR and using the Snapdragon Reality Elite platform. That distinction matters: Samsung identifies Galaxy XR, a headset, as the first product built on Android XR overall.

Glasses and display
XREAL lists a glasses-unit weight of 95g, Sony Micro-OLED displays with 1920 × 1200 pixels per eye, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. The listed features also include 6DoF spatial anchoring, hand tracking, world-facing cameras, electrochromic dimming and a privacy-indicator camera.
Compute puck and controls
The dedicated puck runs Android XR and uses Snapdragon Reality Elite. XREAL lists two memory and storage configurations—12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB—and a 4,455 mAh battery. The page also lists USB-C ports. These are listed configuration options; XREAL has not confirmed which will be final retail configurations.

Native input options listed by XREAL are hands, voice and the puck’s touchpad. Bluetooth keyboards, mice and game controllers are listed as supported peripherals. XREAL also says prescription lens inserts are supported, but has not identified a particular insert or seller in the cited product information.
Is AURA a phone replacement or a competitor to Samsung’s headset?
No direct equivalence is established by the announced specifications. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is a smartphone for handheld screen use and ordinary mobile apps; AURA is a glasses-and-puck system designed for XR experiences. The practical distinction is what you want to use: a phone you carry and operate directly, or a wearable display with spatial features and a separate compute unit.

Samsung’s Galaxy XR provides Android XR ecosystem context, but it is a headset rather than glasses. Samsung announced it as the first product built on Android XR and gave it a U.S. launch price of $1,799.99 in 2025. That launch figure is not a current AURA price or a direct hardware comparison.

XREAL’s page lists a Fall 2026 expected launch and supported regions including the United States, United Kingdom, several European countries, Japan and South Korea. Region-specific shipping depends on launch timing, and the page does not provide an exact date. XREAL named Best Buy as its first in-store U.S. retail partner; that announcement does not confirm stock on a particular date.

- 6.8" Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to ~1750 nits brightness, HDR10+ support, and ultra-smooth responsiveness for gaming and scrolling.
The page describes reservations separately from preorders: a reservation does not require final purchase confirmation and is refundable before confirmation. It currently lists a US$99 Launch Credit reservation that receives US$199 toward a purchase during the launch offer, plus a US$299 Founder Priority Pass limited to 2,000 reservations globally. These are live offer terms and can change; check XREAL’s official AURA page for current terms before reserving.
What apps and games have been announced?
XREAL’s June 16, 2026 announcement named Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars and Fallout: Factions as Android XR/AURA game projects. They are announced projects, not confirmation that either title is currently available. XREAL also said Android mobile and tablet apps would be available through the Play Store and that more than one hundred XR apps were in development at announcement time; that figure describes development activity then, not the number of apps available at launch.
For platform context, see Google’s June 16, 2026 AURA announcement, XREAL’s announcement, and Samsung’s Galaxy XR announcement.
