Yes—xMEMS says its XMC-2400 µCooling chip is shipping and in mass production. The company’s July 21, 2026 announcement calls it the first µCooling device to reach mass production and says it is supporting the company’s first smart-glasses design wins. xMEMS has not named the glasses makers or retail products, so this is evidence of production—not proof that a particular device is available to buy.
What “bladeless cooling chip” means
xMEMS’ µCooling technology is an active, solid-state air mover built with piezoMEMS technology. It moves air to help remove heat, unlike a passive heat sink, but it is not a conventional miniature rotary fan with blades. xMEMS said its architecture has no motors or bearings in a June 2025 announcement.

Calling it “bladeless” is therefore a useful shorthand, not a claim that the chip does nothing to move air. The distinction matters in compact devices, where a conventional rotary fan may be difficult to fit. In a July 2026 announcement about a separate product, XMC-1200, xMEMS vice president and general manager of Thermal Management Mike Housholder said: “Devices are getting hotter, and a rotary fan simply will not fit inside a temple arm – mechanically, acoustically, or thermodynamically.”

What is in production—and what is not
The production milestone applies to XMC-2400. In its July 21, 2026 announcement, xMEMS said the chip was shipping, in mass production, and supporting its first glasses design wins. The announcement did not identify the glasses companies, product names, or retail availability.

XMC-1200 is a different model, not a revision that should be confused with XMC-2400. In the same announcement, xMEMS said engineering samples of XMC-1200 were available to qualified customers and targeted production readiness for Q4 2027. Engineering samples and a target date are not confirmation that the newer model is in mass production.
How the product reached production
- August 20, 2024: xMEMS introduced XMC-2400 and said it planned to provide customer samples in Q1 2025. The product announcement also gave its initial specifications.
- June 24, 2025: xMEMS said smart-glasses samples were available and forecast volume production for Q1 2026. That was a plan announced at the time, not proof production had begun. The company’s vice president of marketing said: “Heat in smart glasses is more than a performance issue; it directly affects user comfort and safety,” in its smart-glasses announcement.
- October 30, 2025: xMEMS announced a $21 million Series D financing round, saying the funding would accelerate mass production and commercialization. The financing announcement was not itself confirmation that mass production had started. The Series D announcement reports the funding figure; it is not a measure of revenue, unit sales, or consumer adoption.
- July 21, 2026: xMEMS said XMC-2400 was shipping and in mass production, while XMC-1200 engineering samples were available and production readiness was targeted for Q4 2027. The announcement attributes the production status to Mike Housholder, vice president and general manager of Thermal Management.
XMC-2400 specifications and intended uses
At launch in August 2024, xMEMS described XMC-2400 as a 1 mm-thin, all-silicon micro-cooling chip for ultramobile devices. These are manufacturer-provided specifications, not independently verified measurements in the sources cited here.

The CES Innovation Awards page lists XMC-2400 as a 2025 honoree and gives smartphones, tablets, laptops, wireless chargers, and SSDs as example host devices. xMEMS’ later announcements also identify smart glasses and other compact electronics as target applications. These are intended uses, not a list of confirmed consumer products shipping with the chip.
What the performance figures do—and do not—show
For smart glasses operating at a 1.5 W thermal design power (TDP), xMEMS reported thermal modeling and physical verification indicating a 60–70% improvement in power overhead, allowing up to 0.6 W of additional thermal margin; up to a 40% reduction in system temperatures; and up to a 75% reduction in thermal resistance. Those are company-reported results for the stated scenario, not independent comparative benchmarks. The company’s June 2025 announcement describes the figures and context.

A separate figure in the July 2026 announcement concerns XMC-1200, not XMC-2400: paired with the Astra2 drive ASIC, xMEMS reports typical power consumption of 70 mW and a temperature reduction of up to 10°C at a 1 W thermal load. Do not use those numbers as XMC-2400 specifications.
The available sources do not provide an independent XMC-2400 performance study or a head-to-head comparison with other cooling products. A meaningful comparison for a specific device would need to account for its power and heat load, available volume, airflow and back pressure, acoustic and vibration behavior, integration requirements, and temperatures under a clearly defined workload.

What buyers and device owners can conclude
Mass production is a supply-chain milestone, not a consumer launch announcement. xMEMS has said XMC-2400 is shipping to support glasses design wins, but the company has not named those designs or identified retail devices that contain the chip. The announcements therefore do not establish which glasses—or other devices—a consumer can currently buy with XMC-2400 inside.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor now, the most precise conclusion is that XMC-2400 is the xMEMS µCooling model the company says has reached mass production and shipping. XMC-1200 remains at the engineering-sample stage in the latest cited announcement, with production readiness targeted for Q4 2027.
