The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank is compelling if your priority is a battery that adds very little bulk: Xiaomi lists it at just 6mm thick and 98g. The compromise is capacity. Its “5,000mAh” figure describes the battery cells, while Xiaomi’s rated output capacity is 3,000mAh at 5V/2A. Wireless speed also varies by phone, so this is best viewed as a slim convenience accessory—not a reliable way to give every phone a full charge.
How thin and light is the Xiaomi power bank?
Xiaomi India lists the MDY-20-EB at 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm and 98g. The 6mm thickness and low weight are the product’s defining advantages: it is designed to sit against a phone without the bulk typical of a larger power bank. Xiaomi Global attributes the slim design to a silicon-carbon battery with 16% silicon content and a 4,369mm² graphite sheet; those are manufacturer claims, and Xiaomi says associated data was tested in its internal labs and actual results may vary.

What does its 5,000mAh capacity mean in practice?
The headline capacity is not the amount Xiaomi rates for delivery at a phone’s charging voltage. Xiaomi India lists three different figures for the lithium-ion battery: typical cell capacity of 5,000mAh (18.95Wh at 3.79V), rated battery capacity of 4,900mAh (18.58Wh at 3.79V), and rated output capacity of 3,000mAh at 5V/2A. The last figure is the relevant one when considering energy delivered at the specified USB output.

That rated output figure does not guarantee a particular percentage or number of phone charges. The outcome depends on the phone’s battery size, charging losses, whether charging is wired or wireless, and use of the phone while it charges. In a GSMArena test, an iPhone 15 Pro reached 91% after about 2.5 hours of wireless charging before the bank depleted. Its Pixel 11 Pro reached 55% after three hours wirelessly and charged faster over USB-C. Those are results from that publication’s specific test setup, not promises for other phones or conditions.

Does it charge iPhones and Android phones at 15W?
No: the maximum wireless rate depends on the phone family. Xiaomi specifies up to 15W wireless charging for the Xiaomi 17 series, while iPhone series devices are listed for up to 7.5W magnetic wireless charging. The global product page lists USB-C output up to 22.5W. These are maximum specifications, not rates every connected device will sustain.
GSMArena’s review tested an iPhone 15 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro, but did not have a Xiaomi 17 available to verify the advertised 15W rate. Its Pixel test showed lower wireless performance than USB-C. Do not assume that an Android phone outside Xiaomi’s specified family will receive 15W from this power bank.

Xiaomi also says the power bank can charge two devices at once using USB-C and wireless output, listed in the India specifications as 7.5W plus 5W. The simultaneous mode must be activated with a button press.

Alignment and case thickness matter. Xiaomi warns that cases thicker than 2.5mm may compromise connectivity, and says the magnetic case shown with the product is a separate accessory. Reviewer Sanket Vijayasarathy at 91mobiles described a strong magnetic hold when the bank was properly aligned, but also noted that case thickness affects grip. Check how securely it attaches to your own phone and case rather than assuming every case will work equally well.

Xiaomi’s package contents list the power bank and user manual. For fast wired charging, Xiaomi specifies a 3A Xiaomi USB-C cable or higher; do not assume a suitable cable is included.

In its September 24, 2026 review, 91mobiles described the bank as a convenience-first buy and reported that its unit became noticeably warm or hot during charging. That is the reviewer’s observation, not a finding that establishes how every unit behaves.

GSMArena’s September 27, 2026 review likewise drew attention to the 3,000mAh rated capacity at 5V and to phone-dependent wireless output. Its charging results are useful examples, but they reflect its own devices and test setup. Neither review establishes a market-wide comparative benchmark.

Choose this model if keeping a magnetic battery attached with minimal thickness and weight matters more than carrying enough rated output capacity for a dependable full recharge. If capacity is the priority, compare alternatives by rated output capacity, not just the large number printed in their names. Also compare weight and thickness, phone-specific wireless rates, wired output, case compatibility, and cable requirements.
Prices reported in India differed between the two reviews: 91mobiles listed Rs 5,599 on September 24, 2026, while GSMArena listed INR 5,999 on September 27, 2026. Those are dated review figures, not a current universal price; check a local retailer for the price where you plan to buy.
