It is a mid-range Android tablet built around a 12.1-inch, 2560×1600 display with up to 120Hz refresh, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and a 12,000mAh battery. Xiaomi sells Wi-Fi and 5G versions, but launch timing, configurations, software listings and prices vary by country; there is no single worldwide launch date or price.
For a buyer, the main choice is whether cellular data is worth the 5G model’s extra cost and compatibility checks. The Wi-Fi version is the simpler fit for home, school or office use. Both support optional keyboard, cover and Smart Pen accessories, so factor those in if you want more than a media tablet.
Launch and availability vary by market
Xiaomi rolled the Redmi Pad 2 Pro out regionally rather than on one universal date. Xiaomi Japan announced sales beginning September 26, 2025; that is Japan’s availability date, not a global launch date. Xiaomi Japan announcement
Xiaomi has regional product listings for the UK and India, among other markets. The available sources do not establish an official US retail launch or US MSRP, so a regional listing—or an imported unit—should not be treated as confirmation of US availability, warranty or carrier support.

These are distinct regional price signals, not a global price list. UK figures are published standard prices in Xiaomi UK promotional terms and may not match checkout pricing. The India figures below are store prices observed when the listing was crawled; promotions and prices can change.

India price claims also differ by type: a report gives ₹24,999 as the Wi-Fi model’s launch price, while the store listing showed ₹25,999 on sale from ₹29,999. Those are not interchangeable figures. India Today price report
Before ordering, compare the local checkout price and stock status, then add taxes or shipping, any required charger, cover or keyboard, Smart Pen if needed, microSD card, and—on the 5G model—a cellular plan. As a dated India bundle signal, Mi India store bundles observed August 16, 2026 included Wi-Fi tablet-plus-keyboard at about ₹31,498 and selected 5G bundles at about ₹34,498–₹36,498 depending on configuration. Xiaomi describes the resolution as “2.5K”; the actual pixel dimensions are 2560×1600. The maximum 120Hz rate is app- and setting-dependent, and Xiaomi lists 240Hz touch sampling when a compatible pen is used. The 600-nit figure is high-brightness mode, not a guarantee of sustained full-screen outdoor brightness.
Display and entertainment
The 16:10, 12.1-inch panel gives more room than a typical phone for streaming, reading, split-screen reference material and web pages. Dolby Vision support and a 120Hz ceiling are useful media and interface features, while Xiaomi also lists wet-touch technology and TÜV Rheinland low-blue-light, flicker-free and circadian-friendly certifications. These specifications do not by themselves establish panel quality against a particular OLED or mini-LED tablet.

Four speakers and Dolby Atmos position the tablet for video and casual games, but do not assume a particular sound quality without comparative testing. The 500-nit typical and 600-nit HBM figures make brightness an important caveat for bright outdoor settings.
Performance and storage
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 is a mid-range platform, not evidence of flagship-class gaming or workstation performance. Xiaomi lists four A720 CPU cores (one at 2.7GHz and three at 2.4GHz), four A520 cores at 1.8GHz, and an Adreno 810 GPU listed at 1150MHz. Without comparable independent benchmark results, these specifications should not be translated into a promise about frame rates or app speed.

LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage are listed by Xiaomi. Choose RAM and internal storage for the apps you will keep installed; a microSD card can hold extra media and files, but the stated maximum of 2TB is expansion capacity, not included storage. The card is sold separately.

Battery life and charging
The 12,000mAh typical-capacity battery is one of the tablet’s headline strengths. Xiaomi’s UK product page claims up to 14.24 hours of continuous video playback, 16.04 hours of reading and 105.36 hours of music streaming based on Xiaomi internal testing. These are manufacturer test results, not independent measurements; actual runtime varies with brightness, refresh rate, network use, apps and video codecs. Xiaomi UK product page
Charging is rated at 33W, and wired reverse charging is rated up to 27W for compatible receiving devices. A large battery paired with 33W charging can mean a long refill compared with tablets offering higher-wattage charging. Check the box contents for your country: Xiaomi India’s 5G specifications page lists a 33W adapter and USB-C cable, but that does not establish that every regional package includes them.

The India 5G specification page lists a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, with video recording up to 1080p at 30fps. It also lists document and teleprompter-related modes. That makes the cameras relevant mainly for video calls, scanning or photographing documents, and occasional snapshots—not a strong reason to choose the tablet. Check the exact local model page rather than applying the India 5G camera figures to every Wi-Fi and regional SKU.

HyperOS and Xiaomi phone features
Xiaomi promotes cross-device interaction with Xiaomi phones, including shared clipboard and app or file interaction. These features are most relevant to buyers already using compatible Xiaomi devices; availability and behavior can depend on software and region. Software version listings conflict: Xiaomi specification pages list HyperOS 2, while newer Indian product copy refers to HyperOS 3. This may reflect a later update, regional build or pages updated at different times; verify the installed version and update policy for the exact regional SKU before buying. Wi-Fi or 5G: which version makes sense?

The 5G model’s supported bands vary by region; its existence does not guarantee compatibility with every carrier. Compare Xiaomi’s exact regional band list with your operator before importing. Do not assume eSIM support: the reviewed specifications do not establish a universal eSIM policy. Cellular use can also consume more battery than Wi-Fi use.
Keyboard, Smart Pen and cover
Xiaomi lists a Redmi Pad 2 Pro Keyboard, Redmi Pad 2 Pro Cover and Redmi Smart Pen as compatible accessories; at least some markets sell the keyboard and pen separately. Availability, layout and bundle contents vary by country. Xiaomi India 5G product page

Android apps, multitasking and file workflows are not equivalent to desktop software, so a keyboard case does not make this a full laptop replacement.
- Smart Pen: worth considering for handwriting, sketching and PDF annotation. Check local availability, bundle inclusion and the apps you intend to use; it is unnecessary for streaming and ordinary browsing.
- Cover: a practical choice for protection and stand use, especially when travelling, but include it in the total rather than comparing bare-tablet prices alone.
Who should buy it?
- Good fit: people who want a large screen for media, reading, study and general tablet use; value a large battery and expandable storage; or already use Xiaomi phones.
- Less suitable: buyers prioritizing OLED or mini-LED contrast, high-end gaming, professional drawing workflows, a lightweight compact tablet, or desktop-class productivity.
- Configuration logic: Wi-Fi is the straightforward choice for most users with dependable Wi-Fi or phone tethering. Choose 5G when independent connectivity is important and verified locally. Consider 8GB/256GB if the local price premium over a lower-storage configuration is reasonable; alternatively, 128GB plus a separate microSD card can suit media-heavy use.
Before importing, check warranty coverage, charger plug, software region, local accessory stock, customs costs and carrier bands. The exact model number, connectivity, memory and storage should match the local listing: “Redmi Pad 2 Pro” can refer to different regional configurations.
