There is not enough verified information to name a fair winner or calculate a reliable price difference. Xiaomi publishes specifications for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, but vivo’s official support page only confirms that the names “S2” and “S2 5G” appear in its security materials—not that third-party specifications and prices belong to a confirmed model sold in your market. Country and configuration also matter for price comparisons.
What can be compared reliably?
Xiaomi’s official product information provides a manufacturer-backed specification baseline for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G. The available evidence for the vivo S2 5G is less conclusive: vivo lists the name on a security-support page, but no official product specification or sales page establishes the exact model behind the third-party comparison listings. The figures below therefore separate Xiaomi’s published claims from unverified vivo reports.

| Comparison point | Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G | vivo S2 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Identity and source status | Official Xiaomi Global product page and India specification page. | “S2” and “S2 5G” appear on vivo’s security-support page; an official product specification page was not established. |
| Display | Xiaomi lists a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display, 120 Hz refresh rate, and up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. | Not established by an official product specification. A vivo Community user post claims a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate; unverified. |
| Battery and charging | Xiaomi lists a 10,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery and 100 W HyperCharge. Its page claims up to three days of battery life; this is a vendor claim, not an independent test result. | Not established by an official product specification. A vivo Community user post claims a 7,050 mAh battery and 44 W charging; unverified. |
| Rear cameras | Xiaomi lists a 50 MP main camera with OIS and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera. | Not established by an official product specification. 91mobiles lists 50 MP plus 2 MP; that third-party entry is not manufacturer confirmation. |
| Software | Xiaomi India lists Android 16 with HyperOS 3. | Not established by an official product specification. Gadgets Now lists Android v16; this remains a third-party claim. |
| Price and configuration | 91mobiles showed ₹49,999 with an Amazon label at retrieval; this does not verify current stock, an exact configuration, or a current retailer price. | Third-party figures conflict: 91mobiles showed ₹39,990 with an Amazon label, while Gadgets Now listed ₹39,999. A vivo Community user post listed ₹39,999 for 8/128 GB and ₹44,999 for 8/256 GB; none is confirmed as a current official price. |
Specifications in the Xiaomi column are manufacturer-published claims, not independent measurements. In particular, peak brightness and battery life should not be read as results from a controlled comparison. Xiaomi’s India page also cautions that network bands and package contents can vary by region and packaging version. See Xiaomi’s Global product page and India specification information.

A post in vivo’s community, authored by a community user rather than presented as a manufacturer specification, describes a 6.83-inch curved AMOLED 120 Hz screen, MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo, 8 GB RAM, up to 256 GB storage, a 7,050 mAh battery, and 44 W charging. It gives India prices of ₹39,999 for 8/128 GB and ₹44,999 for 8/256 GB. Those are user-submitted claims, not verified specifications or prices. Read the vivo Community post.
Third-party entries do not resolve the uncertainty. 91mobiles lists a ₹39,990 Amazon price and a 128 GB configuration, while its comparison table reports a 50 MP plus 2 MP rear camera and 44 W charging. Gadgets Now lists ₹39,999, Android v16, and an August 6, 2026 launch date. These differences are a reason not to combine the listings into a single definitive spec sheet.

Why the reported price difference is not reliable
91mobiles displayed ₹49,999 for Xiaomi and ₹39,990 for vivo, both with Amazon labels. Gadgets Now, updated August 31, 2026, marked Xiaomi “Upcoming” and listed vivo at ₹39,999 with an August 6, 2026 official launch date. 91mobiles gives different release dates: September 25, 2026 for Xiaomi and August 11, 2026 for vivo. The status and date differences, alongside the unresolved vivo model identity, prevent a dependable apples-to-apples price calculation. 91mobiles comparison listing; Gadgets Now comparison listing.
To establish a meaningful difference, compare current listings in the same country for the same RAM and storage tier, and distinguish a normal selling price from a sale or bank-offer price. The surfaced rupee amounts are third-party listing snapshots, not a verified current price match for both phones.

How to decide once the models and listings are confirmed
- Check the exact vivo identity: look for a vivo product page or authorized-market listing that matches the S2 5G name and configuration.
- Match the market and memory tier: compare both phones in the same country and equivalent RAM/storage configurations; regional variants can differ.
- Compare more than headline numbers: confirm display resolution and brightness claims, chipset, camera roles and stabilization, battery capacity, charging, software support, durability, and local network-band compatibility.
- Separate specifications from test results: manufacturer figures describe stated capabilities; independent battery, performance, and camera tests are needed for a tested winner.
