The Redmi’s global specification page lists a larger battery and a 108MP main camera, while Samsung’s India listing specifies IP67 protection and a clear six-year software-support promise. Which is the better buy depends on your local price, storage needs and how much you value long-term support.
This comparison is for the 5G models, not the Redmi Note 15 4G. Specifications and availability vary by region; Xiaomi’s India product page, for example, differs from its global page on display size and HyperOS version. Prices below are treated separately from specifications because the available India-facing figures are volatile secondary listings.

Redmi Note 15 5G vs Galaxy A36 5G: key specifications
The table uses Xiaomi’s Global specification page for the Redmi and Samsung’s India product page for the Galaxy A36. It is a useful baseline, not a guarantee that every regional retail unit has the same configuration.

Which phone has the better display?
Both manufacturers specify a 120Hz AMOLED-family display with FHD+ class resolution. The published figures do not establish a clear overall display winner: panel size differs slightly, and a refresh-rate or resolution comparison alone does not measure brightness, color accuracy or outdoor readability.
Regional Xiaomi specifications should not be blended together. Xiaomi’s Global page lists a 6.67-inch, flat 2392 × 1080 AMOLED display and HyperOS 2. Its India product page instead describes a 6.77-inch curved AMOLED panel and HyperOS 3. Check the exact market listing for the handset you plan to buy: Xiaomi India Redmi Note 15 5G page.
Battery capacity and charging: what the figures do and do not tell you
Xiaomi lists a 5,520mAh typical battery and Samsung lists a 5,000mAh typical battery; both specify 45W charging. The Redmi therefore has the higher published capacity, but capacity alone does not show which phone lasts longer in everyday use. Screen settings, network conditions, software and workload all affect endurance, and the specifications are not a matched battery test.

Xiaomi’s Global page says no power adapter is included and recommends a 45W PD-compatible or Xiaomi 45W adapter. Box contents can differ by region, so verify what comes with the specific Redmi listing. Samsung’s cited page specifies 45W Super Fast Charge; confirm whether a compatible adapter is included with the local Galaxy A36 package.
Camera hardware: more megapixels are not a photo-quality verdict
The Redmi’s listed rear setup is a 108MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. Samsung lists a 50MP wide camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. For selfies, the listed resolutions are 20MP on the Redmi and 12MP on the Galaxy A36.
These figures describe hardware, not real-world image quality. No matched camera test is available here, so they do not establish which phone takes better photos, handles low light better or produces more reliable video. Choose based on the camera types you are likely to use, and look for comparable sample photos from the exact regional models if camera performance is a deciding factor.

Durability: IP66 on Redmi, IP67 on Galaxy A36
Samsung’s India page specifies IP67 and describes testing in up to 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. It also warns that resistance may diminish through wear. Xiaomi’s Global page specifies IP66 and notes laboratory-condition and liquid-damage limitations. The ratings describe controlled tests, not a guarantee against damage in ordinary use.

Neither rating makes either phone waterproof or a safe choice for deliberate exposure to a pool, seawater, sand or careless water use. Follow the manufacturer’s regional care guidance and do not charge a wet device.

Samsung’s stated update commitment
Samsung India explicitly promises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A36 5G. That is the clearer documented support commitment between the two cited product pages. Xiaomi’s Global specification page identifies HyperOS 2 but does not state an update duration. A secondary comparison page lists four OS years and six security years for the Redmi, but that is not an official regional policy statement and should not be treated as a confirmed promise.

MicroSD and configurations
Xiaomi’s Global listing shows 6GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, 8GB+512GB and 12GB+512GB configurations, plus a hybrid nano-SIM/microSD slot with expansion up to 1TB. Because the slot is hybrid, using a memory card may affect use of a second SIM. Samsung India lists 128GB and 256GB storage configurations with 6GB, 8GB or 12GB RAM variants; its cited page does not list microSD expansion. Check local availability and the exact configuration before purchase.
Price difference: compare the same market and configuration
There is no dependable universal price difference: the amount changes by country, seller, storage tier and sale date. At retrieval, two India-facing comparison pages showed ₹28,999 for the Redmi Note 15 and ₹25,999 for the Galaxy A36, a displayed ₹3,000 gap with the Redmi higher. These are volatile secondary-page snapshots, not a verified official like-for-like price pair. Confirm current listings in India for the same date, seller and storage configuration before using that gap to make a decision. Do not compare a Redmi sale price with a Galaxy list price, or assume the figures apply outside India.

Which should you buy?
Choose the Redmi Note 15 5G if
- The exact local configuration offers useful microSD expansion and you want removable storage.
- You prefer its listed 108MP main-camera hardware or its larger stated battery capacity, while recognizing neither figure proves better photos or longer runtime.
- Its current price is lower or otherwise better value than the Galaxy A36 at the same storage tier.
Choose the Galaxy A36 5G if
- You value Samsung’s explicit six-generation OS-upgrade and six-year security-update commitment.
- You prefer the stated IP67 rating, while understanding it remains a controlled freshwater test rating rather than waterproofing.
- You want the listed macro camera or the included Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection noted on Samsung’s India product page.
Before deciding, compare the exact regional model, storage configuration, current same-market price, warranty and in-box charger situation. The specification pages support a trade-off rather than a universal winner: Samsung is clearer on software support, while Xiaomi’s Global listing offers higher battery capacity and microSD expansion.
