The Xiaomi Redmi A5 is a 4G budget phone sold in India in two configurations: 3GB RAM with 64GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 128GB storage. It has a 6.88-inch 1650×720 display with refresh rates up to 120Hz in supported apps, a 5200mAh typical battery, a 32MP rear camera, and Android 15 at launch. It does not support 5G.
The price is the part that needs care. India launch prices reported in April 2025 were ₹6,499 for the 3GB/64GB model and ₹7,499 for the 4GB/128GB model. A later third-party tracker showed ₹8,995 with no online store listing the phone. When Xiaomi India’s product page was checked on 4 October 2026, it did not display a selling price. Treat any figure in this article as a historical reference, and confirm the live price with a seller before you buy.

Redmi A5 price in India: variants and what the figures mean
Xiaomi India lists two storage configurations. The table below sets out each price observation, with its source and date, so you can see which figure is which.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Variant (RAM / storage) | India launch price (India Today, 15 April 2025) | Later tracker observation (91mobiles, undated snapshot) | Xiaomi India product page (checked 4 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3GB / 64GB | ₹6,499 | ₹8,995 (variant not stated) | No price shown |
| 4GB / 128GB | ₹7,499 | ₹8,995 (variant not stated) | No price shown |
The launch prices were the introductory figures for the April 2025 sales window, which began on 16 April 2025. They are not a current quote. The tracker figure conflicts with them, and the tracker page stated that the phone was not available in any online store. Neither source establishes what a buyer would pay today.

Before you buy, check the following on the seller’s listing:
- The exact variant (3GB/64GB or 4GB/128GB), colour, and that the listing is for the India model.
- The checkout price after any discounts, delivery charges and bank offers, rather than the list price.
- Whether the stock is shipped by the seller or is out of stock.
- The bundle. Xiaomi’s specification page lists a charger in the box but says package contents can differ by region, so check that the bundle includes the charger you expect.

Software and updates
Xiaomi India states that the phone ships with Android 15, will receive two Android major updates and will get four years of security patches. Xiaomi has not named the future Android versions in the material reviewed, and it has not published a patch or rollout schedule. Plan on the stated two major updates and four years of security patches, and nothing beyond that.

The Redmi A5 suits buyers who want a large, low-resolution display, a 5200mAh battery, a headphone jack and expandable storage at a low price. It is a 4G phone, so it is not suited to buyers who need 5G. Its specifications on paper cannot tell you how fast it will run apps or how long the battery will last in daily use, so use reviews from independent testers for those questions.
