On the official India pages checked, Xiaomi advertised the Redmi from ₹18,499; vivo listed the Y21 5G 4GB+128GB at an MRP of ₹32,999 and marked that selection unavailable. Those are different price bases and may not represent equivalent configurations, so they do not establish a like-for-like price gap.

Specifications are from the manufacturers’ India pages: Xiaomi Redmi 15C 5G specifications and vivo Y21 5G specifications. Manufacturer figures describe listed features, not an independent head-to-head performance or endurance test.

Performance: same listed chipset, no proven speed winner
Both India specification pages name the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300. That is a useful sign that the phones belong to a similar chipset class, but it does not prove identical performance: memory configuration, software, cooling and workload can affect how a phone behaves. The available evidence does not include comparable benchmark or real-world tests, so neither model can be declared faster on that basis.

Xiaomi lists a 6.9-inch screen, while vivo lists 6.74 inches. Both have a 1600 × 720 resolution and refresh rates up to 120Hz. The Redmi therefore offers the larger listed viewing area, while neither specification page suggests a resolution advantage over the other.

Xiaomi lists 660 nits typical brightness and 810 nits in HBM. vivo’s page markets 1200 nits, but the stated brightness conventions and measurement conditions are not established as equivalent. Do not treat those figures as a direct brightness test or assume that the vivo screen is brighter in every setting.
Battery and charging: vivo lists more capacity and higher wattage
The vivo Y21 5G has a listed typical battery capacity of 6,500mAh and 44W charging; the Redmi 15C 5G lists 6,000mAh typical capacity and 33W support. These figures favor vivo on capacity and charging power, but they do not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use or how quickly either charges through its full charging cycle. Screen brightness, network conditions, software and usage patterns also affect battery life.

Cameras: compare the listed resolutions, not assumed photo quality
The Redmi lists a 50MP main rear camera and an 8MP front camera. vivo lists a 50MP + 0.08MP rear setup and a 5MP front camera. On paper, Redmi has the higher-resolution front camera; both list a 50MP main rear camera. Megapixel counts alone do not show image processing, low-light results, video quality or overall photo performance, and there is no comparable camera test here.
Protection: IP65 and IP64 are not waterproof ratings
vivo lists IP65 and Xiaomi lists IP64. These are different ingress-protection classifications, not a guarantee that either phone is waterproof. Xiaomi specifically warns against immersion and says protection may degrade with use. Treat either rating as limited protection under applicable test conditions, not permission to submerge the handset.

Software and update support
Xiaomi lists HyperOS 2 based on Android 15 and states that the Redmi 15C 5G will receive two years of OS updates and four years of security updates. vivo lists Android 16 with OriginOS 6 for the Y21 5G, but its reviewed product page does not state a comparable update duration. That absence does not establish that vivo provides no updates; it means the available listing does not support a direct support-period comparison.
India price difference: why the listed figures are not like-for-like
Xiaomi’s India phone page advertised the Redmi 15C 5G from ₹18,499 and also showed a marketing price of ₹29,999. The vivo India Store Y21 5G listing showed ₹32,999 MRP for the 4GB+128GB selection, which was marked unavailable. An advertised entry price, a marketing price and an MRP are not interchangeable; the pages also do not establish that the configurations being priced are equivalent. These figures are an observed official-store snapshot, not a current guaranteed checkout price or a verified street-price difference. Xiaomi’s India phone listings and vivo’s store can change, so check the live variant, seller, stock and discount before buying. For a precise rupee comparison, compare the same RAM and storage capacity from the same marketplace or similarly priced sellers.

Which phone should you consider?
- Consider the Redmi 15C 5G if the larger listed screen, higher listed front-camera resolution or Xiaomi’s stated update schedule matters most to you. Its advertised India entry price was lower in the official listings checked, but confirm the current price and configuration.
- Consider the vivo Y21 5G if its larger stated battery capacity, higher charging wattage or IP65 rating better fits your priorities. The official store’s listed 4GB+128GB selection was unavailable when checked, so confirm stock and current pricing.
- For gaming or camera quality, look for comparable independent tests rather than treating a shared chipset or megapixel count as a result. No head-to-head performance, battery or camera test is established by the manufacturer specifications cited here.
The comparison uses official India product pages and store listings; it is specific to the configurations and information those pages show. A third-party comparison page uses performance, display, camera, battery, storage and price as comparison axes, but the specifications above rely on the manufacturers: 91mobiles comparison page.
